I thought seeing this was funny on PGI's 'we're hiring' after all these people claiming to refund their wave 3.

Hard to say if this is a business model reality. When i took a break, resistance and wave 2 packs weren't in the pipeline yet. Clan wave 1 was pretty new. Seeing full packs of mechs dumped into the game was rare And long between. Imagine my surprise checking into the game and seeing that not only did both IS and clan getc another full pack, but another one each was on the way. At the time i left there really want no precident to say they were nerfing old mechs to bump interest in new ones. Quirks hadn't been introduced yet.

That's what really allowed PGI to nerf on a mech by mech basis. And of course, with new packs released on the regular now, its now vastly more likely that need mechs will overlap roles with older ones. So id have doubted before that PIG would intentionally nerf mechs to bolster sales on new ones, but i can we it now. New paid content is streaming in faster now than ever before. And new mechs are competing for roles occupied by current mechs, and this mechs do the job well enough that many might not see the new to opt in. Look at the black knight and cauldron born. Would you want those as much if your current stable was still as good? Id by the clan mechs regardless... as i need those to fail out my roster, but if you're happy with your Timby you might not need an ebony jaguar.

So i can see both sides of that.

idk, I am a sucker for non-humanoid mechs so the Shadow Cat and Ebon Jaguar/Cauldron Born/Turkey Banana, Crab, King Crab etc are a soft spot for me. I just hate looking at mechs like the Awesome have its arms up all the time and you never get to see how they almost reach the ground when straightened - and how much of a formidable melee weapon they are. So I like chicken walkers that have their arms up to begin with - it looks much better and more natural imo. I would always take Cauldron Born over Timberwolf but Crab and Shadow Cat are a tie. Alex did a really good job turning a stupid-looking stick with legs into a fine mech with the Crab (again). Shadow Cat has always looked cool. I've basically always wanted a slimmer Cicada with arms and that's pretty much what the Shadow Cat is.

In fact, I like the Shadow Cat so much, I'm going to nickname it Scat because it's going to be the first MASC 'mech in the game and it's p much as fast as a Cicada when running MASC.

Mixed bags were not bad loadouts. They were just not GREAT loadouts. But they could still get the job done. That is all in the past now sadly.

not so sad about it.
more diversity now.
also many people already stated mpls and med lasers still work very fine.
just no large laser/large pulse spamming anymore.
good thing.

Kinda confused about this... a proper layout for stormcrow prime mechs is a laser boat. The proper layout will no longer work if it is used as PGI wants the mech to be used, but still works fine as its being used in the meta. Mixed layouts on t-wolves and s-crows have been hurt significantly due to a loss of output on the few lasers they mount. T-wolves and s-crows focusing on mounting large numbers of short range, fast acting lasers have been largely unaffected due to how a heavy energy based mech is actually used in a match. So the meta PGI was trying to reign in is still largely unchecked for these 2 clan mechs. For how they WANT these mechs to be used, there is now actually less incentive to use a mixed layout with energy weapons supporting missile or ballistic mains. I don't know what they're thinking here.

yep and the prime stormcorw was running alot hotter than we had it here.
you can still mount them can you?
you still got the range aye?
you are still faster than anything comparable with that range and damage power at longer ranges in the 55ton class?

its just not so much above anything now as you need better aim and weapon management compared to pre patch.

If you like the ******** SRM/SSRM vomit meta which will dominate clanbuilds now, then by all means yes.

Considering the terrible state of cUACs and PPCs in general nope, Its a terrible balance decision.

sorry, i play with PPC and srms very succesfull. also with C-UAC on a tbr.
yes let them come so i dont have to run to them to get a fight.
now use S-SRMS alot and they will be nerfed too. because thats what happens when they get boated too much.
im waiting for it. long necessary.

I can't say how much worse the meta build is now, as i don't run meta. However, with how the meta builds are being used, i can imagine that this will not impact them greatly. My build is built around small and medium pulse lasers to take advantage of the speed and manoeuvrability of the mechs.... with a single large laser for long range harassment. The quirks DO greatly effect my build in a standup fight, which is not meta. The did not much huh the meta, but they did hurt diverse builds.

And that is a prime example why balancing decisions should be based on competitive play in a great measure.

"I can totally use it IT MUST BE OKAY LISTEN TO ME PGI - every twentieth match im going over 500 damage if the stars are aligned right 11!!!1"

There is a good reason you don't see cUACs and (cER)PPCs in comp play (unless you play in artificially created scenarios).

sorry if you only hit that bad, i am not.

you should thank the comp players actually, they ruined your loadouts. because they used it the most.
its not players like me that cause it.
only the players that use them too much are causing it.

you got a bit more heat, a bit more face time in a brawl. thats all.
you have to play more within the team than as a single rampage mech.
so PGI done everything right.
its not the One-Mech-to-kill-them-all anymore.
this is not what PGI wanted from mechs.

Fantastic quirks !

The Firestarter was too powerful and this was definitely needed !

Also the Stalker 4N is too powerful, but it needs to be nerved more - also the Stormcrow and Timberwolf are still to powerful. Hopefully we can see additional nerfs in two weeks.

Fantastic job PGI - the community will love you !

i never wanted to play meta.
its boring, fairly dull and playable by everyone. some can play it better some less.

apart from that, i dont have to cry about the godmech beeing nerfed. get over it and learn to play as a team and not as one mech army.

You seem to be a bit slow so I'll make this as simple as possible:

People are not complaining about their godmechs being nerfed - only a ****** would disagree that the TBR and SCR didn't need a nerf.

People are complaining about an absolute hammerblow to the single competitive weapon clans had.

absolute hammerblow?
lmao.
really.
how come some people say the nerf is actually not that bad and massive?

alot of people are just draggin things up to hyperspheres so they can cry towards PGI.

Yup, typical founder behaviour. They think just because they bought into MWO early they're entitled to OP mode. Read the EULA people. They can change stats whenever the heck they want to.

PGI has always had a difficult time finding employees to actually fill the positions they've had open since very early in their development of this game.

After a few more games, really feels like the nerfs on the timberwolf achieved the opposite of what the devs intended. The reduced DPS and longer face time affected my close range brawler builds with only 2-4 lasers the most, while the alpha striking cMPL tbr is barely affected.

For all practical purposes lasers feel like an all or none option now. I guess the large number of lasers and pinpoint damage still mostly offsets the reduced dps. I guess PGI wanted everyone to go meta.
