The changes they made are things that people in the community have been asking for. They didn't just make this decision from no where.
And the new Clan mechs aren't out yet. But I gotta admit with the Timber and Stormcrow nerfed. The new Clan mechs probably will be all the more desirable. So perhaps the timing is a bit suspicious.

And competitive Crow will give zero fracks and move to the next Op chassis/combo, rinse and repeat since the dawn of time.
You remind me of the guys who play 40k and cry when rules change and the miniatures they spent 200$ cuz those where the best OP units are no longer OP and need to waste another absurd quantity to remain on top.

Few of the omnipod quirks are a bit extreme but then you just use another.

While i agree that these quirks are not right, this behavior is pretty childish. Everyone has had to deal with their best mechs being nerfed, it has been happening since day 1.

Useless? HAHAHAHA, omg you're kidding right? I don't even have to go into Clan mechs are the Stormcrow and Timberwolf are two of the HIGHEST PERFORMING CLAN MECHS IN THE GAME. But the Firestarter has been a major issue, being a major pick as an IS light because its fast, durable, and can dish out insane amounts of damage in comparison to other lights. The Stalker laser boats have also been ridiculous...just so many Stalkers, so many lasers...
The point of quirks were to bring mechs up to an even playing field. There were so many underperforming mechs that 'God Tier' were the only viable options to play unless you wanted to get absolutely rolled. Instead of evening them out into a middle ground (nerfing top mechs and boosting bottom mechs) they decided to quirk everything upward to compete on the level of the top most mechs (timbers, scrows, etc).
The problem has been that general nerfs lowered the effectiveness of most clan mechs while the top tier mechs barely took a hit, then the IS mechs got a full round of quirks, many of which over-buffed specific chassis or mechs in general (ERPPC TBolt, SPL Firestarter, etc) and that cause the whole chassis spam issue of only those top mechs on either side being played. Its slowly gotten better, and they're being FAR more cautious with quirks after that initial 'oops' moment.
I'm actually really happy they took a slight nerf to these outliers so that we'll see them used a little less and maybe some other variants more.
You know what I hope they do next? Fix clan ACs to get rid of the monopoly that Clan laser boats have on clan mechs right now. Far too many bullets on ACs to be considered useful for clan weaponry, a reduction to 2 shots per salvo would still spread the damage but allow the weapon to still perform better while keeping its rating/range/damage ratio in a tiered system. IS ACs right now use a simple range/damage system with the heavier and harder hitting slugs not going as far. Clan ACs don't really have that, as their damage is split so ultimately the Clan's AC20 is actually the worst ballistic, even when compared to a clan AC5 at the same range. People complain about Clan laser spam, but Clan LRMs get chewed to pieces by AMS (reduce the length of the salvo's trail maybe?) and ballistics spread damage so poorly and have such a high change of losing damage consistently that they're not worth the tonnage required for them.

In case you haven't paid the slightest attention to these forums ... the Timberwolf, Scarecrow and to some extent the FIrestarters and Stalker-4N are the THE MOST complained about mechs on the forums.
The Timberwolf and Stormcrow are arguably the most powerful mechs in the game.
So all these changes do is ... and that only maybe ... is bring these mechs into better alignment with every other mech out there.
I own 3 stormcrows, I own 3 Firestarters ... and I fully support these changes with the hope that it brings these mechs into a better place with respect to the other mechs in the game. PGI can't buff everything to the level of the Timberwolf and Stormcrow ... without truly destroying the game ... so there is a bit of pain for these dynamic, power house mechs that can do almost everything well. They decided the 4N and Firestarters were also a bit over-quirked. Fine. It says in the terms of service that it is an online game and play experience may change over time ... it isn't surprising that it does.
