Mercstar Rumors?

I've heard MS ate (merged in) at least half a dozen of new units during the event, stripped them of all the meat (skilled players), and then spit out the bones (whatever remained).

MS, Mercstar, What does it really mean?
Antonius Rex - The Canadian from Terra, how and why are Canadians tied into all of this?
Mech The Dane - Obviously of Scandinavian Descent, also from Terra - how is he involved?
Why the sometimes close, sometimes arms length relationship between these two great leaders - and why the violence, the extensive military power deployed across the Inner Sphere, including deep into the Clan occupation zones?
Where, in all this insanity, do the Spartan descendants from the original Greece, again on Terra, originators of the lethal MRDR I4ce mercenaries - where do they fit into this picture?
MS Media Corps has been conducting a deep underground investigation into all of these matters - and the guiding principle of our investigation has been to follow the money.
Money, the driving force behind a longstanding, multi-generational criminal conspiracy that goes back more than a millennium.
MS, does it stand for Mercstar? Or does it really stand for Maple Syrup, or even more specifically the Canadian Maple Syrup Mafia (or CMSM.) Outrageous you say? Have I lost you into the land of disbelief? That is EXACTLY how they want you to react - this organization has lasted so long precisely because no one would EVER believe it. When you are into a good thing, you do everything in your power to hide it - and the CMSM is very powerful indeed.... wealth beyond counting lies at the root of this organization.
Maple Syrup, that golden elixir from Canada - the market for which has been severely restricted and tightly controlled by the very real and very dangerous Maple Syrup Mafia for all of these years. The money from this trade is truly massive. The kind of money that buys military power and political influence. A dropship full of this syrup can easily purchase a planet. For centuries outside forces have been trying to break into this exclusive and highly lucrative trade, and for centuries they have failed.
How is this trade protected you might ask? How is anything protected these days? With battlemechs of course. There are openly Urban Mechs patrolling the grounds of the main production facilities on Terra - but it is felt that these are merely to dissuade the general public from looking too closely - underneath these facilities are hardened caverns that date back to before the Star League.
Indeed, it is very likely that the CMSM was the originator of the money and equipment needed to start so powerful a group as Mercstar. Mercstar, a massive organization ever infatuated with re-securing control of Terra. As we speak, Mercstar is again conquering planets in a race towards Terra.
And where does Mech The Dane fit into this picture? We are not absolutely certain, but we have uncovered some interesting information. It turns out that Scandinavians were among the largest immigrant groups to Canada during a period from the 16th through the 21st century. The region of Canada where these people settled is nearly identical to their original Scandinavia. This is the region where the Maple trees grow, the only source of the precious syrup. Why else would anybody choose to live in a mostly frozen wasteland?
While we cannot connect Mech The Dane directly - he is the current ruler of the Space Vikings - dominated by ancient Scandinavian cultural and social practices. We also know that several of the individuals known, or thought to be involved in the Syrup trade, are indeed of Scandinavian descent. While not all of them are blonde, some are suspected of changing their hair color.
So, it seems that Mech The Dane is in actual control of the manufacture and sale of the Syrup itself. Who would ever suspect such a connection? If it is true, then it certainly explains a lot of what we have been seeing lately between MS and the FRR. It would also suggest an answer to how Mech The Dane was able to deploy so many troops during the battle of Tukayyid. Yet not everything can be easily accounted for, you see, sometimes MS and FRR are friends, sometimes they are enemies, sometimes they are even training troops. Could it be a case of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer?
This then brings us to the Spartans - that elite warrior group always present with Mercstar. Further investigation has revealed that along with the Maple Syrup, the sale of Pure Virgin Olive Oil is also artificially restricted for sale in Canada, a process that in effect drives up the price by a factor of 10 or more. For more than a millennium Canadians have been wondering why is it that olive oil is so damned expensive? When we checked on who controls the distribution of this oil in Canada - it just so happens that they are the very same companies that distribute the syrup.
Furthermore - the urban mechs that are guarding the Olive Groves on Terra are the exact same makes and models as the mechs that are seen guarding the syrup production facilities in North America.
How likely is it that the Spartans are using the olive oil trade as their own source of battlemech financing? Is their involvement in Mercstar directly related to the monopoly practices of olive oil distribution in North America?
We have followed the money, and on the surface all of these business practices appear to be legal (of course.) However, using your financial and military power to control and artificially restrict the sale of one or more commodities is at best a highly questionable activity... one that is being kept from the public eye behind a carefully crafted media campaign that promotes a pure and wholesome lifestyle through food consumption.
So facts? Yes we have some facts... and rumors? The rumors include the common folk knowledge that if you cross these people you just might find yourself floating face down in a river. That is the kind of wholesomeness that can leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
