I could be wrong but to play at all in CB you had to be a founder, or were there random keys as well? I cant remember lol

Cause CB access was what they said they were selling with the CB founders' packs

Some of us got cb invited when pgi let some slip by mistake. Oops.

I can confirm that I got a CB key but was not a Founder. Maybe they liked that "why you should pick me" writeup they asked me to submit. :P

I vaguely remember a small number of keys being dished out in a competition of some sort... PC Gamer magazine possibly?

I was in CB well before Founders packs were offered.

I played in closed beta before founder packs. Back then Catapult was the premier chassis and LRMs were a *****. Oh we were given free cbills and MC to mess around which reset weekly(?) I can confirm there was beta keys given out

I wonder how many big name, marquee players will be lost in this ban fest?

looks like none. But TBH, the real big name, marquee players play on a real public pedestal and would be IDIOTS to use it. ModeratePudding was a not ready for prime time wannabe that flew too close to the sun and got burned. The real comps, some of them might be Dbags, but they are at least legitimately skilled ones.

There were testers in CB for a few months before they put in the Founders. I was one of them, and got in on the second round of hardware based tests.

It was a simpler time. Atlases and their Hunchback kin stalked the hills of the Forest Colony. Catapults claimed large territories in the open spaces. Jenners dashed to and fro, taking what scraps they could. Then came the frozen city map, and we were damn grateful to have it! This was followed by the dark times of the Trollmando, random explosions from using flamers against your opponents, and finally Dragon bowling matches for hours on end.

The scrolls speak of a time when the CB shall return. An Atlas savior will come and lead us all to the promised land, to hunt each other in the great Forest Colony in the sky. In whispered tones, they say that flamers will finally work, but many consider that to be heterodoxy.

I just hope they got them all, and wasn't just the fruit of people getting reported and such.

One of my friends left MWO because he was sure cheating was rampant. Myself, I always blamed skill and/or luck on a lot of shady things like people being prepared for a sneaky flanking locust coming around a corner from an odd direction...

well, 64 is a pretty small number even for our playerbase size. So I'm sure this is just wave 1.

I'm a closed beta player that couldn't afford a founders package at the time. The completionist in me so wants those crappy 4 founders mechs though.

PGI should round up all of the b@ founders accounts and work out how many mechs are available to be given out and run a compo for them ^_^

My only problem with making the names public is what if there was a mistake made. Will the company own up to it , appologize and fix it? I would like to think so but I would not hold my breath.

Also what were the offences, were some major things like wallhacks and aimbots or were they silly things like editing a sound file. It's kind of like police going into a small town, arresting 64 people but not telling anyone why and offering no proof other than here is a list of the people so you know they are criminals........but why are they criminals. Were they repeated offenders, single offenders, major infractions, minor. Is a permanent ban really needed or maybe a warning to cease and desist be enough as sometimes people really are ignorant that something is a banable offense.

Typically game companies go through a step process ie 1 day ban 3 day week and then permanent or some such thing. Going right to the end is suspicious to me as it smacks of making an example. It says to me that we have a problem/are getting lots of complaints with cheaters so lets make some examples so that the rest of the players think we are on top it.

Maybe these people deserved it. However some time should have been given for them to plead their case to make sure no errors were made as once they are made its rather hard to unmake them.

I am a conspiracy theorist at heart though so anytime someone in authority states that they are 100% certain they made no errors I am about 75% sure they did.

This is from Bhael Fire:

Quote

To put things to rest.... no, I have never cheated in this game. I want that to be known.

Apparently, my kid's account was banned for running an exploit that her and a friend downloaded last week on the family computer...so they banned my account as well (without any notice).

I am horrified and humiliated beyond measure. I fully understand that I can't be associated with A.C.E.S. now thanks to the "public shame" thread. The damage is already done....and I am deeply saddened by that.

I've sent emails to support explaining what happened and so far no response; I guess that's that.

Sorry guys. :(

Russ told Bhael that Russ had personally seen the video of Bhael cheating, which is an outright lie.

Why is this stuff not being posted in the forums by a dev? We need Twitter to get announcements?

Better for them to be transparent, it gets the word out even more that they're cracking down on cheating and it stifles the many many requests for the info. Especially after we spotted some of the forum-goers with the "banned-cheater" tags.

It is not really that transparent though. It is simply stating they banned these players. There are some tweets from Russ stating global this wave was guilty of these offences but still seems rather vague to me.
