Better for them to be transparent, it gets the word out even more that they're cracking down on cheating and it stifles the many many requests for the info. Especially after we spotted some of the forum-goers with the "banned-cheater" tags.

Your friend is lying. I'm sorry, that sucks and it's upsetting. They'll likely never ever cop to the truth. Out of thousands of bans I've handed out in various games I've had a handful of people fess up honestly about it. If they were the sort of people who'd be honest, they probably wouldn't have cheated.

They're a cheater though. They'll try to rely on PGI not being willing to give exact details to prevent other cheaters from trying to circumvent detection to play the 'gray area' card. This wasn't because they used some graphics enhancement and got swept up in error. They cheated, sincerely and legitimately cheated, and got caught and banned.

well, i saw how people in lol were banned for zoomhack which they did have but never used
they just experimented with 3rd party scripts and left some traces in their files

Congrats to PGI on clamping down and getting out the ban hammer. The game will be much better without these losers.

BTW. PGI is going to be 100% sure when they ban. Banning someone and locking away their account on a hunch or guess is a good way to lose a potential lawsuit. They aren't going to ban someone unless they have proof. The people on that list did cheat, that isn't for debate.

Its a shame because I'm sure many of them wasted their money, and all lost their respect.

Just happy that none of the players on the list are those that I regularly drop against.

Always disappointing when you hold a unit in high regard (in any game), to find they harbour cheaters...

Russ has said that it was for wallhacks and aimbots nothing else.

Unless your ToS/EULA says "we may ban you for anything" which theirs does as does pretty much any game ever

Trust me, PGI has proof. There could be potentially a lot at stake with some of these accounts. They have their evidence.

I do have a feeling that could in theory be challenged legally if a lawyer could convince a judge that blatant fraud was being committed by PGI (which clearly there isn't).

Yea though, I suppose in reality it wouldn't be challenged for how little money was at stake anyway.

It's more just bad PR to freely ban left and right with no proof, just hunches.

Just an FYI... I was almost a Founder... and my account says March 2012... but I did not start to play until Jan 2013.... mostly because I was a cheapskate and did not trust PGI... and did not want to pay money for the closed beta....

Those 2012 accounts are for the FORUms.. not playing the game...

HAHAHA lol

Most of those Founders are Closed Beta testers....so majority of those players did play in 2012... but still... some of them did not... Maybe I'm just the rare exception...

I could be wrong but to play at all in CB you had to be a founder, or were there random keys as well? I cant remember lol

Cause CB access was what they said they were selling with the CB founders' packs
