so how are you sure that people are using wallhack and not just plain seismic sensor?? lol, sounds like it would be difficult to sort em apart

on the flipside, aimbot seems like it would be easy to tell - whoever gets more than 1-2 headshots in a game is clearly cheating

i wonder how much success they have with that too, would a simple torso twist undo their aimbot? lmao.
i bet any half skilled player wipes the floor with those haxxors every single day, they probably get a few kills out in the open - alpine, caustic

I'm also discussing how rational or irrational it is to ban someone for something they didn't do.

The rationale is that the owner of the account is responsible for anything done from that account. Whether Bhael was at the keyboard or not, he is responsible. Full stop. It's in the EULA which is adequate warning to any rational person.

Even if it was Bhael's daughter, and I have no reason to disbelieve his comments, he was responsible for what happened from his account. That means he failed in his responsibility to protect others from cheating from his account. The ban is appropriate whether it was him or his daughter and IMHO the ban should stand.

The moniker of "cheater"? Well, that's why I disagree with naming and shaming. Some people deserve it, some don't.

Do graphical bugs where you can see mechs through buildings but not target them count?
Do FOV changes to the user.cfg count cause you see more than default?

Yeah Nadia Comaneci was using an aimbot when she scored the first perfect 10 in mechnastics at the 1976 Montreal Olympics

This is AMAZING! Erik Zunder split my old unit and has driven me and my TMC buddies out of it, I'm so glad Karma finally hit him

No and no. Both is answered in the CoC Posts, everything that you can tweak in the .cfg is legal, since they can limit the function of the commands. And bugs just happen. As long as you don't actively exploit them.

Anyway why 64 accounts exactly? Seems like a suspiciously 'neat' number.

Illuminati confirmed.

This is from Bhael Fire:

Russ told Bhael that Russ had personally seen the video of Bhael cheating, which is an outright lie.

First, I'd like to suggest you take this opportunity to take a look at your User name before continuing to post in this thread.

Secondly, the acknowledgement that someone in the household was using a cheat is *completely consistent* with what Russ said.

There are some alts on the list. Presumably, alts are detected in a way that Bhael and his daughter register as alts. It is unreasonable to assume that PGI can differentiate between two distinct individuals on the same machine.

Therefore, even *if* the "Bhael Fire" account was never activated with the cheating program, the "alt" presumably was.

You are also assuming that the other player did not log in as Bhael. I would not consider that a safe assumption.

Therefore, before you makr accusations of "outright lies", you would be well served considering the entire chain of events that led to the ban being implemented.

By his own admission his (presumably minor) installed and used hacking programs. This is far different than "I have absolutely no idea how I possibly could have been flagged"

And I'm asking to see the proof that Russ claimed was a video of Bhael cheating. I'm also discussing how rational or irrational it is to ban someone for something they didn't do. Why are you acting such the PGI fanboy here? Why are you white knighting for them when you're not involved and have nothing to gain? You've said your peace.

Geeze, this morning (Aussie time) when this topic started you only had 15 posts to your name. 50 of your 65 posts have been nothing but defending these cheaters and arguing that proof needs to be given to you.

I'll come out and say it - are you one of the banned players using an alt?

Asking for proof here in the forums is going to get you nowhere. If banned players are not happy with this issue they should take it directly up with PGI, not via proxy on this forum. If you are not an alt just leave it be and let the banned players take it up with PGI. You will get nothing from PGI and honestly you have no rights to it.

Eboli.

im just worried i would get banned for something stupid like running my joystick profile software that lets me use my throttle and pedals in game.
The only things that will be banned are things that affect the game files.

Game controller profiles are purely external, and affect the hardware, won't even touch the game.

I have a question though - did PGI only ban actively playing accounts?

What about the accounts that used hacks/cheats in the past and just stopped playing since they knew PGI was investigating?

This is my THANK YOU post!

THANK YOU cheaters, for helping PGI fine-tune the ways and procedures to detect and eradicate those who use PGI's platform to gain unfair advantage over others, just to pet their own ego.

THANK YOU PGI for keeping your game a bit cleaner!

THANK YOU Community for providing so many posts that made me GRIN from start to finish while reading it!

To all of you, THANK YOU!!

On a side note, PGI better be ready for much more of this (cheaters and cheating tools) when the game hits Steam!

And as a request placed by others:
PGI, raffle those banned accounts items for us all as a way of thanking the cheaters for all they did to help the game, keep the items in use ;)

Wow keep up the good work PGI!

I have played with and against a number of the people banned, even though most seemed like ok people in voice and text chat they were ruining the game for everyone at the same time.

The less cheaters there are the better the experience of playing mwo will be for everyone else.

Keep swinging that hammer!

No thanks. I'm simply very proud to be a part of this community, one which has taken the responsibility seriously of handling this issue pragmatically, and that PGI has been reacting to it diligently.
