If I don't know if I handle a fully serious Stefka!

You know that I love PGI, but not always I'm agree with some of thier decisions....and that's when I say "Thanks PGI" :)

With this move PGI is winning me as white knight, though

>on the flipside, aimbot seems like it would be easy to tell - whoever gets more than 1-2 headshots in a game is clearly cheating

any smart aimbot user would aim to the ct

i guess, but that would also suck in this game. when there are faster ways to drop a mech most of the time than shooting ct. or even more useful/efficient like legging them and leaving.

why would you shoot ct on a dire wolf or warhawk, unless you're in a 100 ton mech yourself. any facetanking match you will lose unless you shoot their less armored sidetorso, and take away some of their guns. what about a dragon, or even jager>?

from what i can tell by just playin the game, most players can land shots on an enemy's CT even in their sleep.
they'd have to be pretty bad to need help with that, or targetting a mech that has a tiny ct and moves fast, like stormcrow, timberwolf.
but again, why would you want to? i guess they are so bad that being able to shoot ct reliably - is an improvement?

unless they always keep away from facetanking range and heavier mechs, but that would imply they possess some sort of skills for positioning and strategy... so why would they not just learn to aim?

also - who is managing their heat? i could understand if you shoot cockpit with your aimbot, that you don't even need the skills to manage your heat, just 1 shot kill.
but if you are going to cheat by targetting a ct that takes 15 ppc shots to chew through or whatever, then you are expecting to at least use SOME skills to manage your weapons, ranges, manage the heat...

the only advantage i see to it, is being able to core a light mech in 1 shot, but! do they have an aimbot that can lead their shots? that's a fancy aimbot!! so many questions.

it seems that for all the skills they would have needed in the end - it's kinda pointless,

i feel like aiming is not the hardest part of this game. positioning, heat management... ranges on your loadout (if you are not just boating medlas), twisting, focus fire, and targetting components.

it seems like not only is aiming one of the least important aspects of this game, but a hack to shoot ct would actually make you worse than most players, better only than cadet noobs.

they should have stuck with the games version of aimbot instead, LRM targets mostly CT and they lead/chase targets. LOL!

seems cheaters are not only lazy and mediocre, but also stupid

For rounding up the alts - PGI probably looked at the associated credit card/paypal account used to purchase anything. Same credit card/paypal on two accounts? Assume it's an alt and ban them both.

I lately stumbled over this (see below). IMPORTANT: I do not use it. I would just like to know if it is against the rules to use it before I get it. If not, it looks neat to have another means but a mouse to activate commands (I hate the side buttons of my mouse).

I think that is legal. My unit has a player that has muscular dystrohpy, and he plays MWO by voice command (we can hear him command his mech through teamspeak, since he's constantly talking)

Example: Legs, Legs, Legs (Legs is his command to walk forward) Target, Legs, one, one, target, Legs,

Teamspeak doesnt mess with the game client

edit: redundant post I guess as its already been said!

addendum: pleased to see PGI monitoring for cheats, and doubly pleased that there actually weren't that many, which means that we know that PGI are acting with due diligence.

rightfully so?? lol, I haven't gotten any info( I wasn't banned ). Look how much confusion is out there on what is or isn't a cheat.. PGI doesn't do a great job of saying what is, look at this thread, PGI had to step in and say "yes we didn't ban this or that even though we could". Cheating is a word with many levels, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people on the list were banned for thing most wouldn't really see as cheating but more of just being a dumb ass or not knowing better because it wasn't obvious.

It has been made quite clear that the bans were only for aimbot and wallhack.
There is a paid cheat program, if you were using that you would know.

It looks ok, only seems to be performing basic functions a program like Autohotkey does, just with voice commands instead of keypress.

To do anything fancier like actually aiming would probably need to interface with another "illegal" app.

Though no reason PGI shouldnt grant special permissions to those with a genuine need to enable them to play.
That would need special personal permission. I dont think anyone would begrudge someone with a real handicap being allowed to use aimbot style tools when they cant use their hands or something.

any smart aimbot user would aim to the ct

because only a real idiot would be so blatant about it?

Mind you, people that need to cheat at games are not usually rocket scientists to begin with, but most have some basic level of cunning. Using it to consistently put 90% of a large laser beam to the CT or ST every time you activated it, would be just as effective, and much less noticeable.
