Your little clip doesn't show how badly damaged it was from heat, how long it was completely shut down, how vulnerable it was, and its also one shotting a cicada which an atlas can do without shutting down.
TheBeef and people like him are able to make crap builds work, because they are that good, mr average see's this, builds the DW alpha once, shuts down dies for 0 damage.
So your point is I guess, its not fair because a DW can have a really dumb build but the Atlas can't ?

NGNG Sean Land even indicated that it's a one shot kill from a dire wolf in the video below. The only way you get a one shot kill with an atlas you have to grind to the location ducking and weaving for cover then hope you get close enough without being spotted. The Atlas is too slow on the battlefield just to run up on somebody and that's why it needs an armor buff.
A lot of good pilots will not take out the Atlas unless they have a reliable team, it's not a solo mech to play.
Gimme 2 Gauss and someone standing still and I can One shot Head shot someone pretty reliably.

I don't agree with Atomic Weapon's use of that video clip as an example, but just to put some facts:
1.) That DWF build was a joke build.
2.) It did one-shot a moving target. FACE THE STORM!
3.) Atlas can't carry 2xGauss
4.) Dual Gauss doesn't guarantee a one-shot to a fully-armored head, gotta roll double or triple crits to get it (a 17% chance).

They used to last longer.
You should be taking out a direwolf you would do better.
Oh man... the past... I remember that...
Evidently, crappy hit-reg kept the Atlas looking like a monster.
Things in that video that were Beta-tastic:
SSRM2's going for the CT every time.
Dat Brawlgauss (the exact reason why we don't have instant shot gauss now)
Dynamic heat vision!
Atlas mechs able to take a pounding.

I've been Gauss head-shotted from time to time. Almost every time it happened I wasn't surprised. This one time it happened because I was shooting at an enemy, and out of my peripheral vision I see a DWF emerge from cover.... but for some reason I figured he must be looking in a different direction aiming to hit one of my teammates, and not me. So I figure I'll stay exposed and keep shooting at the enemy in front of me.
Next thing I know, *ZIP*, my head goes pop, dead.
"Nice shot!"
Totally my own fault for trusting my peripheral vision.

This one time in band camp, I was running a Jager40, and an Atlas overheated right next to me. I stopped moving, Lined up his Eye...
BOOM!
Called me a hax!

note kiddies even when the lrms are flying the mechs are always moving, not standing still hiding behind things hoping someone else is going to take the heat.

This video clearly shows a comparison between the dire wolf and the Atlas when it comes to firepower.

In my opinion, the Atlas needs a significant durability buff.
I don't own an Atlas, I don't play Atlases, I don't particularly like Atlases. But I know that when I see one on the field it's supposed to be a formidable foe, it's supposed to be scary. And they're just not. Whenever I see one, I think to myself, "YAY, a slow vulnerable short range assault mech for me to torture!"
They're really sad, and such easy targets. The poor things need help.
