That's right, I said it. This is a PvP game after all. You play to win and test your skill against your enemy, so why are we hand holding the bads that complain they can't compete?
I can see a separate queue for the first 25 games for your cadet bonus, but after that, the big boy pants need to be put on.
For me, the biggest issue is you actually punish the higher ELO players.
Why should I have to wait 10 minutes in the group queue to get a game?
Why should I have to be in a group of 6 or more to compete because the MM thinks I should be able carry the whole team while leveling a non elited, non meta mech?
Why does the MM pit groups of 2 and 3 high ELO players against 8, 10 or 12 man comp teams? And how is getting rolled by those group of comp teams any different than a new player getting rolled by veteran players?

So yeah, the MM needs to go.

No. It really doesn't. I wouldn't mind having a 75% win percentage again but the matches are generally better now than they were before.

We need player separation because many have been collecting these all their lives:

Matchmaker is stupid. It is one of the biggest things that keeps me from playing. I like to win. I don't like some artificial force trying to help me to lose. Elo only works in a 1 on 1 or (possibly) 2 on 2 setting. Any larger group sizes render it a poor methodology.

Sorry you're too '733t for the playerbase, even with TeamStack Mode; Maybe you should restrict yourselves to a lobby, with D00z you respect …

This is what has come of all the "e-sport" hogwash: Don't want a GG, just to beat up on some n00b.

Think of the new player who does not even know they can change, or would want to, a Mechs weapons.
There is a learning curve to this game... its just not that simple.
Perhaps the play time should be taken into account, just like a pilot.
Tier1 - 0 to 40 hours battle time.
Tier2 - 40 to 80 hours.
Over 80 and your in with everyone just like the OP says.
... that aught to do it.

I premarily like to have fun. I really like to win too, don't get me wrong. But I enjoy a good fight that I couldn't win much more than a steamroll which I did win but was without any thrill. As I sometimes have VERY little time to play I'm not interested in wasting my time in a match that I never could win. No matter how good I played. That's actually the reason why I don't play CW. CW has no MM and it sucks for me. I'm restricted to Pugging because of time constraints. Thus, I get steamrolled in CW and this simply stinks. It's no fun at all - for me at least. MM has to stay if you ask me. It's the better option.

Yeah those of you who want to get rid of the matchmaker are morons. Sorry for being blunt, but it has to be said.

What a thorough, insightful and elegant explanation of your point of view, backed up by solid facts.

The MM sucks, and being caught in Elo hell isn't fun.

You know what's worse?

...

...

...

...

...

THE FREAKING HEAVY QUEUE! Gah! If I'm in an average Elo heavy, I wait FOREVER to find a game. 2-3 minutes. Its the worst. Its not the MM doing that, its the saturation of heavy mechs in the game.

The whole MM and 3/3/3/3 thing needs to be re-thought.

Thank You.

I would like to understand how the match-maker effects you in the way the OP is claiming.

Are you a high Elo player who is forced to carry low Elo players then? Is that it?

On bilbos line here, while frustrating like hell at times we need a mm to at least have a chance of a good match. I wouldn't mind of they trashed elo and used some other metric though, or a combination.

Well CoD Hardcore Search and Destroy, and MWO are the only games I play and I get plenty of great close games on CoD with no MM system. That I know of anyow, players seem very random skill level.

Good ideas in this thread, who doesn't enjoy stroking their fragile little epeen by blowing up noobs in stock mechs eh? If we stroke enough possibly these participation trophy babies will stop playing altogether. Who needs new players anyways, this game will live forever!

As a somewhat high Elo player I have to heavily disagree. I vividly remember the time when we stomped bads all day every day, and it simply was no fun! At all! I prefer waiting for a better match over over boring stompfests with no challenge or chance to improve your game because there's no freaking contest!
If you need to club seals to feel like a 733t xxx420xxx MLGPr0 I feel genuinely sorry for you. I feel better when I get at least some kind of opposition.

No I am a middle of the road (maybe lower) player who has no problem facing whoever gets dropped across from me. I fear no player.

As was mentioned in this thread, you could have a MM based on time played. That's something that actually makes sense.
But the people who say the current MM is needed and is just fine, have totally ignored the issues higher ELO players deal with. Their attitude seems to be, F them, their better than me, so they should suffer the consequences of my $hit play.
