It's no wonder people don't want to play light mechs. It's almost like they're supposed to be an ECM with legs.

Oh noes the enemy team jumped us. If the light mechs had been scouting that wouldn't have happened. Thanks, raven.

We got steamrolled because we didn't have anybody harassing the enemy from behind. Thanks, raven.

I got solo'ed by an enemy light because our lights weren't supporting me. Thanks, raven.

yup, good job skipping the relevant details.

So you were killed cause the lights were trying to get kills and nobody near you knew how to kill lights. Including you. Welcome to my world.

Dual Guass Rifle Jaegarmechs behind their allies. Dying to a massive PPFLD strike isn't fun, and not even getting a chance to touch them just rub the salt on the wound.

Huginns are also infuriating to fight against because of their bloody DPS.

Funny thing is you can't really replace the word "Raven" with Kit Fox or Mist Lynx in those statements. The latter don't run off too far from the team... at least the ones that survive.

All I see is a bunch of guys whining about ravens not fitting brawling weapons and babysitting the team. The sniping ravens are a legitimate role and one it does well.

That is if the sniper in question is actually putting a hurt on the enemy. If they are lightsabering as is being put forth by Bish and others. Then no, they are not being helpful they are trying to play the "assist" system for bigger paydays. And that is just weak.

Kit fox is too slow to do the same job, and the mist lynx is too lightly armed.

I run one but I have never claimed to be skilled so there is that. Why do I do it?

It is all about the KILLS! the KILLS! the KILLS!

NO DAMAGE, NO DAMAGE.

Shamelessly enjoying yourself. Nice. However it isn't what Fred Durst told us.

that's debatable. See too many Ravens step out, lightsaber all of the screen for half a second, maybe splash a tick of dmg while they are at it......

SMH.

Seen too many LRM-bads hiding mid/back pack, never exposing themselves or their 80+ tons of armor to bear the burden of damage soaking for their team or the burden of attaining position/LOS while they lob LRMs.

You know these guys, they play all kinds of mechs but the instant there is even a freebie challenge like the past weekend, they hop directly into a LRM boat because they are so bad at the game that they feel the best way to hit a match 30 score consistently is with LRMs.

It had to be done. Yeah I actually like dogfighting near the group with a 250 and mpl in my raven. Yeah should 255 but I don't play enough (yay rl) to grab a new engine so recycled engines go!
Also want to get my 4x working again but mg suck lately and aside from jj not much else going for it... I could take on adders and kit foxes once long ago and hold out, maybe even score a kill too...

First, yes, just like any chassis, you do have good, skilled players that use it, and use it well. So obviously, it takes skill to be EFFECTIVE with one.

This is in regards to the legions of can't aim, hide 1000 meters away lightsabering your ERLLs all over the screen, players out there. Take you ecm and do something useful with it.....like actually support your team, or be part of a wolfpack.

Yes, you can eventually accumulate a few hundred damage, and sometimes even vulture a kill or two, while largely protecting your paintjob. Or, you could L2Aim, and be an actual asset to your team, fighting at closer ranges, where your lasers actually do some damage where your feeble aiming skills might let you at least keep that beam on the enemy mech, and again, yes, put your ECM to a better use than trying to protect your delicate epeen.

It's pretty bad when I vastly prefer you to be on the other team.

The Build itself can actually be a highly effective contributor. It's the Call of Duty, solo Rambo Hero mentality that seems attached to it the majority of time that is a detriment.

/rant,

you may now return to your QQing about the new Mechlab.

ERLL ECM ravens are SO ineffective that we have pretty much banned them from our comp unit play. If you want to run a RVN-3l it better be Med lasers and SRM's or you will get **** and potentially dropped for someone with more of a team mentality and their head not in their own ass.

This is a SOLO mech and even then, ECM does no good to anybody 750m behind you.

Large laser raven ?

Practically everything would take less skill.

There are few exeptions.

Well depending on the number of missiles they bring, Soaking isn't what they are there for.

This isn't meant to be on teh front line or even near the front line, and its a solid assault Mech.

Well, as a spider pilot I can say the first thing I do is find the enemy team and target all of them for the scouting bonus and then rake a laser across the entire enemy team for an easy 10-12 assists. Damage isn't usually going to be high, so you gotta get the cbills where you can. I then focus on shooting them in the back until I get chased off.

You'd be surprised how effective the harassment can be. Once you've stripped the back armor off they aren't going to risk getting shot in the back again and they'll more often than not back up into a corner and are useless right up until my team finds them and 8v1s the guy. Sometimes they'll chase the squirrel. At the very least it'll maintain parity by having to send a mech to chase you off.

The question should be, "Why does such a little mech get 3 Large lasers?"
