... bit the dust last night in a match and switched over to a guy in 3pv assuming it was some sort of noob but quickly realized that this person was never missing a single shot. It was a fast mover that would buzz openings behind the line and the reticle would jump to the location of a mech and the lasers would fire without any spread whatsoever - the reticle had a bead that did not move once it was on a mech. It's like the cursor locked on a mech while firing and as they moved the reticle was moving to positions on the screen rather than being manually moved.

I'm not the tinfoil hat type but this was a bit too amazing.

I hear folks complain about aim bots but always shrugged it off but now I'm starting to wonder.

Anyone else see funky things like this lately?

Nope. I have seen guys like this, played with a few in drops, and I have seen videos of the best guys here. They don't miss barely ever. I am dead serious. These guys are pros. You probably saw one of the best out there. They are amazing. Not to mention MW:O has guard software built that blocks stuff like aimbot doesn't it?

I agree that there are really good pilots out there but the cursor movement is what was suspicious to me. It jumped to locations on the screen rather than being moved.

The forums are not the best place for this kind of issue ShadowSpirit, please send an email to support@mwomercs.com with information about the player so the situation can be reviewed and addressed by staff.

Thanks!

I've heard it's pretty much impossible to hack in this game due to multiple redundancies and checks?

I mean I don't assume to know what the hell I'm talking about, just what I heard. If you've got something like shadowplay, do a video dump, upload it and send it into PGI for review. Just remember the spectator cam is a little off, shows little wobble and smooths out cursormovments. Might just be a quirk of the cam.

Try out 3rd person a couple of times, it feels like the cursor will pop to the target once it is close; it is really wierd.

With a little practice, it probably is not hard to manintain that pop/focus in third person with no deviation.

It's like a little aim bottish like in and of itself.

I have contacted support but I want to ask here because it was, as of now, just a strange observation...

Thanks.

I have seen some suspicious stuff as well but left it alone.

Since you didn't name and blame the forums is actually an appropriate place considering he is posing a debatable topic

From what I've seen around the internets, something like this might possibly exist but the overwhelming majority of this community is mature enough not to stoop to these levels. Plus it helps that scriddies can't write basic hacks and hooks due to the way the game is programmed.

A simple report will do and I'll be surprised if you'll see even 1 more suspicious player for the rest of the year.

If you play in third person the cursour does tend to randomly jump around the screen alot.

The HUD uses a lot of smoke and mirrors to look good in the cockpit, but 3pv kinda exposes some of that. The targeting reticle projects from inside the cockpit in all views , but 3pv is at a different angle, so it sometimes jumps around changes in the terrain based on what you would see from in the cockpit. Not sure if this is what you saw, but it happens. It could just be that you saw a really good player, and the natural jumpyness of the 3pv reticle combined to look really suspicious.

3rd person view moves YOUR point of view. So instead of looking out direction "through" the reticule, you're camera is above the mech. The reticule then has to "hop" as your aim point moves across things that are at different distances from your mech, to compensate for the angled point of view. No built-in aimbot, just visual compensation for angles and ranges.

That is why the reticule hops about. I can't comment on the pilot's ability to hold a target. Possibly a bot, possibly someone with really good aim and really steady hands/mouse.

Haven't seen anything that looks like an aimbot lately, but even the best players out there will lose lock on a moving target that twists and turns. Did you see the target mechs twisting/rolling their torsos?

the cursor "bead" does lock on certain mech parts when in 3rd view... toggles from one location to the next at predetermined location which makes it impossible to hit pinpoint what you want...

as for aimbots, which is prohibited to talk about in the forum, but 3 shots, 3 kills...
match lasted 1:25... 12/0...
for a pug drop, no 8+ premades,,,...
humm....

but ive seen this only once in 10 million matches....

The good think with MWO and cheats is that everyone have invested loads of time and/or money into their account so there is a lot at stake. It can't imagine it would be worth the risk to cheat, probably only someone trying it out on a fresh account?

Ya that was me.
I am amazing I know.
Thanks everyone.

But not really. I'll keep my eye out for this, nothing so far. Then again I would assume this person would be In an ultra high elo bracket.

I have not seen anything lately that looked like an aimbot to me.
However, a quick search in the net will show you that there are Hacks for MW:O available (i have no idea if they work, or how they work, tho, as i have never clicked any link i had found).
I would be surprised if there weren't any.

Recently we had a TeamKiller around that used Trailmechs (mostly the Nova) in order to kill his teammates right after the game started; on one occasion he said this:
"get our guide! www.[i wont tell what he typed, but a google search returned the address given as a hacking site.]"

Of cause PGI states that Hacks are not a problem, because they have to.
I have no idea if Hacks are rarely used or PGI has ways to deal with them that we simply don't notice (like players getting banned immediately).

On the other hand, given the (relative) huge amount of hitpoints you have to get rid of in order to kill an enemy here makes it hard (for yourself) to notice any Hacks.
So, my personal feeling is, that i have never played any shooter so far that has less hacking present then this one (again: this is my personal impression).

But thanks for bringing up this topic, ShadowSpirit, in the future i will keep an eye out for odd behaving cross hairs. ;)

@ anyone who doesn't know:
Do not create a forum-post stating the name of the player you wan to report.
Your post will be deleted (no Name and Shame here, report to PGI directly).
MW:O has no ingame report tool, so you have to report anything you want to report via email to: support@mwomercs.com

Nothing is impossible when it comes to computers and people wanting to show-off their coding skills, especially if it means they can get an edge off people in a game.
