I really really really want FUN jumpets, like the ones in MW:LL. They where fun to use and not overpowered. They shot you forward at a 45% angle very fast, and where amazing. I think during the enire flight phase your accuracy should be decreased. It would be better if it didnt shake your redicule, it just changed color and stayed centered, but your weapon spread should be higher while in the air at all times, to stop poptar.

I would also like it if they weren't fixed equipment either. Lore be damned, thats 8 tons I can put into heatsinks and weapons.

I assume you are talking about Clan Mechs?

Well the Scientist Caste and Khan say you have to have those Jump Jets, so get used to it. ;)

MWLL didnt allow customization. You had to use stock mechs. Thats largely what kept the JJ mechs balanced.

MWO allows customization though. So buffing JJs could easily result in a JJ meta where players only take JJ mechs and any mech without JJs is useless. So to prevent that JJS need to have some serious drawbacks with regard to recharge time, heat generation, and firing while midair.

I really want jump jets to be fun. I do not like people taking one or two to get most of the benefits out of them. I also get that some people would like to free up some tonnage on certain mechs that have a lot of weight tied into hardwired jump jets.

To that end, I would like to see a new system that would replace the current jump jet system for both IS and Clan. Jump jets become an upgrade and have 3 options: None, half, and full. None would obviously have none. Half would have half the mech's max jump jets rounded up. Full would have the max number of jump jets. These would be hardwired into predetermined areas of the mech.

Next make the heigth, speed, etc of full jump jets fun and useful. Then set the performance of the "half" option to 15% - 25%of full jump jets. That way, builds that just need a bit of maneuvering or extra space can take half but investing further tonnage into the equipment grants much bigger benefits.

I'm not too worried about poptarting as I think the PPC velocity nerf actually did that in, but if it becomes an issue add reticle shake to the whole jump duration.

I think the drawbacks are fine, just the Class 1 JJs need to be brought into line with the other ones. Literally that is all that needs to happen, the rest are not bad if you equip a lot of JJs.

It sounds like the Class 1s need to jump at the same rate as the rest. Class 2-5 act over a shorter period of time, which is why the Class 1's feel SO sluggish.

IMHO, the other classes need it as much or more so than class I. They are more reliant on maneuverability and need it.

If you take more than 1 or 2 JJs they are actually pretty effective

Even with reticule shake you will have a resurgence of pop tarting just with large salvos of LRM's. a minor point given the proliferation of ECM capable mechs. I use pop tarting to maintain lock all the time.
JJ simply need to be more effective. they don't have to give you 360/s rotational speeds. in fact they shouldn't really give you anything but minor turning.

I take 6 in FSS and though they are "effective" they still need more air.

What exactly do you think will happen if class 1 jumpjets are buffed to the state they should be at (i.e. thrust per ton comparable to other classes)?

Do you really think ******* Highlanders are going to become the new meta, in this ******* ridiculous era of Laser Vomit and Dual Gauss cheese?

All that will happen is a few ****** chassis' will actually become viable.

Shake on the way down.

Return them to actual jump jet status.

Not WhitemanJumpJets™.

I can't think of anyone I know in-game, or posters from HPG or MWO Official forums who seem to like the current state of JJs and yet the current state remains.

I like them...
