To all the people posting jack-of-all trades builds, those are exactly the kinds of builds you don't want a new player in. New players need to learn to focus on the role of a build. Builds built for every role are awful at every role and a horrible experience for a new player who won't have any goal for how to play the build.

No more than two weapon types and no more than two weapon groups needed should be the goal.

Now ,knowing meta builds are great and the best builds out there. If one of these mechs is chosen for a champion/ trail mech, shouldn't it give a new player a good look ALL of the weapon categories that are available? When they are ready to purchase their own mechs then they can say "I liked the laser aspect of the mech , I wonder if it would be good with a more energy focused build , hence the incentive to buy a timber wolf and tailor it to their OWN play style or preferred type of weaponry on the mech.

Okay, as there is no information of about if we are allowed to switch omni-pods or not, I'll just assume we can't - because its one champion mech.

Normally, I would notbuild such a thing, but for beginners, it may be good to have a balanced mix of weapons where they always can do *something*. Also, those builds are unelited, meaning they need a lot of love from extra double heat sinks. So... here is it - not meta, not even overly powerful, but good for beginners:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8b46f36dc4721bf
Timber-D (all D omnipods)
3-C-ER-Medlaser
2xLRM15
2xSRM6
43% cooling efficiency

TimberWolf All-Purpose

2 UAC/5 with 3 tons ammo
2 SRM6 with 2 tons ammo
3 ER Medium Lasers
2 JJ

Doesn't look like much but it's been such a successful machine for me. It's heat-efficient, the UAC's provide Med-Long range capability, SRM's provide up-close punch and the lasers are for everything inbetween and finishing off weak opponents. An brilliant all-rounder on every front.

I made a video showcasing some great combat with it, complete with MechWarrior 2 sounds and music.

Here's my Champion Build sugestion:

The Warewolf:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...cb9349b34617af6

The name comes from the fact that it has something to throw at the enemy at every range, and packs a solid punch for your c-bill.

2 x LRM10 ( 3 tons of ammo)
2 x SRM 6 (2 tons of ammo)
5 x ERMLAS
4 x Jump jets
6 x Double clan heat sink

Firepower: 79
Cooling efficiency: 31%
Speed: 81 kph
Armor: 441 (Max armor all components except the legs, shaved those down to 53/54)

TBR-A central torso, TBR-S left and right torsos, TBR-PRIME left and right arm

Would be even better if the nerf's were removed fot the cmhampion, with no negative quirks, or even some positive ones, but we all know they won't do that..

Also unfortunatelly, I don't understand WHY we can't get a HERO mech, but only a champion..

But, still, the community started requesting special clan mechs right after Tukayyid.. so.. yaaay, the dev's took notice!

TBR-Spg "The Tabletopper"

Design Intention:
This build is inspired by some of the other excellent builds presented today and intended for maximum new-player friendliness.

Defense:
Armor is evenly distributed front to back, to allow new players to explore the map without the risk of being cored out from the rear.

Weapons:
LRM20 allows for long range skirmishing, while steak missile system provide protection from lights. Clan active probe will allow the new player to acheive lock despite enemy ECM protection.

A small laser has been added to strip armor, at which point the player can finish the enemy using their machine guns. Attention has been paid to ensure sufficient ammo has been provided to allow some wastage while new players are learning.

A flamer has been added to allow new players to explore the "stun-locking" potential of this weapon system.

Why a timberwolf? What about a summoner?? damn... it could have been the summoner with which Joanna killed Natascha Kerensky!! :D
There are already so many Timberwolves on the battlefields, its gonna be even more with a Timberwolf champion...

But anyway, here is mine:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...40e84ab8c6ec4d3

Throw 1 or 2 jumpjets out and then + the last ton, put MASC inside!
Or go for dual ballistic arms with ballistic points in each arm!
Something new! Please!
Thank you!

I know this build won't get chosen, but hey maybe I'll get lucky.

I like this timberwolf because it really is different than all the other timbers you see roaming in the wild, and I think a champion should really be unique when you spot it. Running a bunch of lrms, UAC 10's or medium lasers is just really kinda normal type stuff and doesn't really take much of a different playstyle. But this timberwolf requires you to get out of your comfort zone and really get your hands dirty.

My favorite part of this build is it takes a much higher battlefield awareness, paying attention to your radar anticipating what the enemy is seeing as well as what they're doing. It trains you to really have a tactical awareness of the battlefield because thats the only way you'll get in range to bring the pain.

So without further ado, I present my favorite timberwolf:

The BloodWolf

Anyway, maybe this will be my first champion if it gets chosen.

What if everything you ever wanted, came in a rocket can?!?!?! That or a Timberwolf-C with an LBX-20. Shuck and jive with the best of them in this "Big Buckin Chicken". Dispense peace and justice throughout the inner sphere one brawl at a time!! Accomplish more than entire legion of poor inner sphere saps with this exceptional specimen of clan tech!

Play around with the Heatsinks for bigger TC or more Ammo/Armor.
Need to know when your time has come in this Mech.

Ok i will give it a try.

Medium range timber with some good brawl options:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3211b6a7b3a1872

Only 3 weapon groups, medium lasers packed close, small lasers for unexpected brawl or push and can put out decent 9 dps of sustained dmg, good survivability. Requires to shield your left torso and some heat management but its not that scary and can be fun.

5 c-mpl 2 c-srm6 2.5t Ammo 3JJs 23DHS Max Armor 38% efficiency 64 Alpha.

Decently cool and plenty of firepower. I have much more fun with this than true laserus vomitus. (Plus, an IMBAwolf without it's ears just isn't as cool. :P)
