I thank our PGI overlords for removing turrets and making Lights worth playing in assault again.

Yes, there are those of us who enjoy winning a match without ever firing a shot.
(Which should be a fat XP bonus, IMNSHO)

And those are the people we like to call "Wrong". The old River City map was terrible for many reasons.

Such as?

Because queue size, obviously.

Because the less maps you allow the MM to search for the longer you'll search. Want to find matches fast - set all maps, want to play maps according to your preference and setup - wait longer. Natural balance.

I can't decide whether to get the hero wolverine, I need one more, think it might be a cool CW mech.

Sorry, can you try again? Not sure what you mean, except maybe the Awesome is broken somehow.

It's got NINE Energy hardpoints. What's the joke here? If they give it any more buffs endless rivers of P2W whiners would drown the forums.

Literally on all accounts, it's a very good mech.

Simply having more energy hardpoints isn't always better. The 5SS already runs hot with 7MPL and a -15% heat gen quirk. Can you imagine what 9MPLs would do? 54 alpha is nice but I bet its worse sustained DPS then the 5SS. Also anything over 3 slots for weapons in the torsos doesn't allow you to run 3 DHS anymore so now you need to find room for those elsewhere or cut them out, further making this mech worse.

I have a feeling you're going to cop huge flak for this but I, on the other hand, agree. I find whenever a meta mech or loadout is good at piercing through armour in a split second, it's always a mech that boats only one type of weapon.

Builds that core in 1 or 2 alphas:
8+ SL (Firestarter/Executioner/Gargoyle),
6+ ML (Nova/TBolt/BattleMaster/StormCrow/MadCat)
4+ LL (Stalker/DireWolf/ WarHawk/Zeus/Battlemaster),
2 AC20 (Jager/Cauldron/KCrab - Although the KGC was designed for it so that's okay),
2 Gauss (Cataphract/Jager/Cauldron/MadDog/Dire/KCrab)
4 PPC (TBolt/Warhawk/DireWolf),
6UAC5 DakkaWhale,
4+ SRM6 (Oxide/Griffin/StormCrow/MadDog) and so on.

Guess what mech + build combos you always see in game.

If you just happen to be unlucky enough to get hit, you either have red armour or red internals and that pretty much puts you out of the fight especially if you're a brawler. I have a lot more respect for pilots that carry a mix of Energy/Ballistic/Missile, and it's why my main ride is The Protector Orion.

All of these builds either cannot be alpha'd more than once due to heat or spread damage like crazy. small laser boats can core mechs quickly but you have to be within 100-200m and they do not alpha, they can 1-2 combo if you hold them on target while in a short range brawl, not exactly a problem for balance.

They just re-did a map, made it larger, and with more stuff on it, and you are surprised it is a big patch? Really?

WELL DONE! WOW. That map. Well worth the 1.4gig. Beautifru!

Not to mention, the really short downtime. The Euros are rejoicing!

Is it just my connection or is the download really really slow? It's trickling in at about 100-300 kb/s here.

Gee, a pure Energy Thunderbolt with a slight range buff. Not OP but c'mon with all the Energy boats.

Wolverine Hero gets better quirks than the Thunderbolt Hero? I see 3LLs plus whatever.

Why boost IS AC10 ammo? Not needed, no point.

Clan LBX gets nerfed.

PPC & AC5 meta returning.

40 - 80 ton Mechs get more hang time meaning more potential for poptarting.

90 - 100, we will have to see such as on my Executioners.

Legged Mechs, why change anything?

Awesomes, Centurions, will have to see.

Spiders even more killable?

More Timber and Crow Laser nerfs, more complainers incoming.

Optimizations, result in FPS gain?

Never saw a Mech through walls with Thermal, how could anyone given how blobby it is and how all the color sometimes mashes together?

How could a Mech power up after firing PPCs since you cannot fire when powered down?

They REMOVED/LOWERED some of the earlier nerfs.... aka these are buffs. Read the notes again.

An alpha with all 8 med Laser will bring you up to around 40% Heat. He will be hot as hell.
The 5SS is still the top Dog T-bold. This one will be ok but it's a No go for me to buy it with MC. Not worth the REAL money.

If you are stupid enough to alpha 8 MLs, and trigger the Ghost heat, then no mech in the game can help.

This TDR will have at a 78.48 heat cap. Dissipate 4.07 heat, and that's if it's running the 9 ML build. If you just fire the MLs in a group of 6, and then 3, you're going to be just fine.

Is it the best TDR? Probably not.

Is it strong? Yes.

Will it be OP? Nope, and that's the single most important thing about a new mech being released. It's gonna be good, but not OP. Especially if it's MC only

Of course 9 MPLs will have worse sustained DPS. You're trading DPS for burst here. That's what you're doing, when you strap 2 extra MPLs, and remove at least that many DHS (Or downgrade the engine a bit).

interesting they modified both the c-AC and the c-UAC to fire less shells - i would have thought it'd be smarter to just give that benefit to the c-AC's only so there'd be a reason to use them over c-UACs now

if you'r not going to give c-ACs any kind of advantage over c-UACs then why even have them in the game?

also when they redo forest colony i hope they keep the map available for private matches - it's perfect for some of the low player count tourney matches (like 1v1)
C-ac's are essentially LBx's that fire single rounds instead of cluster ammunition this was done because PGI had orginanly wanted LBx's to fire two types of ammo, however the code was lost or something... But in Lore Clans do not have standard autocannons so giving them any kind of buff would also apply to LBX cannons.
