Ok, how about we start by telling solo's the TRUTH?

Think that would help?

Tell them CW is primarily designed for Group and Unit play. Maybe a big popup when they hit Faction? Big red letters in bold font "Faction Warfare is for Group and Unit Play. Solo play is very difficult" with a nice confirmation box.

Then they would know that this area of the game might not be the best place for them but the actual Solo queue, until they are ready.

Lol :)

You do realize this is what is already happening and is one of the reasons that the CW queues are so small, right?

The majority of MWO players play solo (PGI once even said it was 86% but this number was debunked though not officially) ... though even taking their numbers in terms of groups still meant that more than 50% drop solo. SO ... creating a game feature that is designed to appeal to less than half of the player base is bound to have fewer players to start with ... add in the greater time commitment required ... the preference for organized groups over random groups ... and you get a situation ripe for low player populations.

Y'know we only have 18 people in EmP to specifically avoid what you described, but keep talking out of your ass I suppose.

only having 18 players makes every EmP member have equal skill? well ok then.

Well, pug vs semi pug was a fun game just now. Actually went on for awhile. Counter attack is the only CW that is any fun at all.....

How does the score end 42/42 and we win? we were on the "defense" side of CW....does Omega count in CA?

CW can be great fun for PUGS, i have done it often and reached level 10 Davion pugging.
CW rewards in game are really poor for the time you invest and that's its biggest downside along with the fact there is no reason to fight as capturing planets means absolutely nothing.

But if that "minority" hates the game the "majority" wants, they can either keep paying to support the "majority" and shut up and take it or gtfo right?
Because that seems to be the message so far....

is OP ******** ? There is plenty of good reasons why CW is a barren wasteland compared to puglandia. Why would you even make such a stupid statement.

What kind of fool would deliberately play in a worst environment

I always preferred pugging in CW even when I was in a unit. PUG vs PUG matches let you pad your stats an enormous amount and are so unpredictable compared to 12v12s.

Except there are no stats in/of CW matches. No padding from there. (I suppose that's another detractor)

Lots of reasons here are my top 3.

#1 there is no reason to fight for planets.
#2 12 people can't take planets anymore , You need at least 24
#3 Clan/IS balance is still way off for the top most used mechs.

Pretty much #1 - you see in Battletech the Houses raided each other to capture resources - mechs, weapons, etc...but in MWO its just handed to us for credits or real money.

And just think how wonderful CW would be if these anti-group solo rambos would actually participate in the core mechanic of CW, grouping/unit play.

Just think how wonderful CW would be i these anti-group solo rambos used the tools they asked for time and again.

No, instead of using what they asked for or participating in core mechanics, everything must change to suit them even though they have an area designed specifically for solo players. They do not want the tools they asked for, they do not want to participate, they do not want to do even the minimal amount of effort to take control of own gameplay. Instead, they want PGI to change everything to suit them. They want the rewards from CW play without participating in CW, just be honest. CW has to change to cater to solo play so they can get the rewards. They do not want to work as a team. They do not want to group. They want the reward for just showing up and not having to take part.

I want a place where teamwork and grouping is central to the experience. That place is CW. You want a solo playground. That is the solo queue. Not asking to take my group into your solo playground and ruin your experience, so don't ruin mine.

How many people play a game on Nightmare level play? Should nightmare level play be made easier for average players to participate in?

Average players can play in PUG(easy) or Group(average) if they have the moxy. But they better have their big person pants on to venture into CW(nightmare)!

Thats how I see it. Its also how I would like it to stay. I want to be able to play in Nightmare... but my experience says... I need more practice... and better teamwork skills.

Anyways, here are the problems with CW, rest of you take a seat and get out your notepad:

1) No immersion. Go play MW 12349000, or MechCommander, then go play CW. Tell me where the depth is. Where is the sense of struggle and vying for control of a piece of a galactic pie. It's not there. Period.

2) Grind oriented rather than logistics oriented. CW should be based around concepts of planet control that dictate non-linear progression of unlockables, supplies, wealth accumulation, and house political dynamics.

3) The maps are all 100% strictly MOBA-style. MOBA makes me want to scoop my own eyeballs out with a spoon. Nothing else to say, you figure it out. Consider the guy who posted BF:BC2 'rush' map and meditate some.

4) CW was designed for hardcore play, but all hardcore players laughed the entire mode away from their focus when they realized it was a beta [so will be obsolete later why bother nolifing], a grind, one dimensional play, sometimes difficult to quantify a true 'winner' (however this is also true in war on occasion), and nothing but pug stomps. All you people talking about "all the hardcore players stomp my pugs thats why game sucks" lol you don't get it, those people are not the top hardcore players, you rarely see those actual bosses in CW.... the groups of casuals you get rekt by, they are simply social and grouped players with simple chemistry. If you get stuck on that notion, online gaming with other people is not for you, or well, CW isn't.

You're welcome, nerds. Do I have any solutions, sure. Make it like MechCommander. Better yet, go search forum for Cyborx' suggestions for CW. It needs more variables to fight over - sensor tower, turret generator, etc. Maps need to be more diversified instead of 2/3 channel bottlenecks of garbage in arbitrarily awful spots (like why are we front dooring a canyon with gates instead of drop shipping behind, killing all of them and generator within 2 mins......)

"They do not want to work as a team. They do not want to group. They want the reward for just showing up and not having to take part"

Everyone's a telepath these days. Maybe they just don't see the need to join a unit. Its not like they are advertised much here. Back at MWL your unit designation showed up with your avatar, so it was obvious that joining a unit was a gateway to more fun. Here, not so much.

That's something that surprised me when I came to MWO 6 month ago - no ladder leagues, no organized team play. Sure, I found a few seasonal leagues AFTER I joined a unit, but nothing like MWL had.

Maybe that's where MWO should start - create some 12 v 12 ladder leagues. Cultivate teams and get players to join in on the fun. Then transfer that pop to CW, because CW is not really creating them on its own.

Part of the problem there is that MWO goes out of it's way to make it difficult for league play because they want to control it rather than a 3rd party. It's hobbled the game from the getgo and trying to get support within the game to actually do league play has been like pulling your own teeth with a pair of pliers.

At least they've got private lobbies and the like now.

Here being on a team gets mocked and ridiculed. Then again so does being a PUG, but PUGs got so offended Teams just stopped advertising other than flying a banner.

That's really stupid. Almost as stupid as MWO losing ~ $100 per month from me because they simply won't respond to a complaint I sent customer service. These kinds of stupidities are making me re-evaluate how much time and energy I want to put into the game.

It is an accurate generalization based off what people say on these forums.

More info that CW is for Groups/Units out front is a good idea. I suggested a big pop up box when you hit faction as an non-aligned player that clearly states this mode of for Units/Groups and anything else will have a harder time, and a nice confirm box.

I like the idea of ladder matches, I will generally support anything that brings more Groups/Units into CW.

CW WILL get more populated once we have reasons to fight and hold planets, waiting to get there is hell.
