I, for one, think that Puma/Uller need less re-scaling and more of a stance change, to have their posture lowered, to something like the Cauldron born has.
Maybe a little bit of both.

People saying the Shadow Cat will take over for the Kit Fox, that is similar to the Executioner taking over for the Dire Wolf. The Shadow Cat will not replace the Kit Fix because the Cat will be bigger thus easier to hit no matter what advantages it has.
The Cheetah will not replace the Kit Fox because the Cheetah is more of a Clan fast ECM using solo operator. Sure the Cheetah could do escort duty like the Fox but it hurts the Cheetah more since it should operate better on its own, if it does not do that, the Cheetah has failed.
Yes, we should get 5 votes, NOT one per weight class. It could well end up where one weight class does not get a Mech on the list (I believe there are no Lights that qualify for the top 5). I just remembered though that this forum allows only 2 types of voting.
- Choose one option.
- Choose as many as you want.
The second would allow people to choose more than 5 and mess up the vote. I wish there was a way to vote for only 5.
I will never understand the Shadow Hawk other than meta players must be looking to give it more of an advantage than it already has. It actually stayed quite close to what it has always been, it is even a bit skinnier than it was in CBT. Roughly the same can be said for the Stalker.
I own both the Centurion and Kit Fox and have run the Trebuchet. Why did I sell the Treb if the Cent and Fox are worse off? Hmmmm.
Treb original art.
Treb miniature.
Compare those to what is in game.

"The question is whether the advantages make up for the disadvantages"... hmm, let me think about that. Do you think I'm discussing how effective one mech is over another? because I'm not.
Your original statement was "If tonnage or weight class is of no importance, then you mas well trade your Kit Fox for a Hellbringer."
I was not discussing what mech has the most value for 30 tons, nor was I discussing what mech has the most value for a light mech. So when I remove tonnage as a constraint I am not then discussing what mech has the most value period. I'm not discussing what mech has the most blanket value, I'm discussing what mech fills what role the most effectively. Being a 30 ton mech is not a role, it's a characteristic.
Your train of thought seems to be simply "Artic Cheetah will be better than kitfox because it better light mech; thus nobody will use kitfox anymore." In my opinion that's entirely the wrong way to think about it. The Cheetah WILL NOT replace the kitfox because despite the fact that both mechs are 30 tons, they fill different roles. Do not make the erroneous assumption that people only pilot the kitfox because it's the least crappy clan light we have, and that once the cheetah comes out, we're all gonna jump ship; some of us do actually like the cute fox.
The Cheetah will fill the sorely lacking role of a traditional IS style speedster light, the clans don't have one of those yet and they need one. BUT the kitfox will still see use as a heavily armed close support and sniper mech... or at least it would if not for the Shadowcat.
Now the reason that the Shadowcat WILL replace the kitfox in most cases is because the Shadowcat, despite being 15 tons heavier, fills most of the same roles as the kitfox. Maneuverable close support and sniping is what both mechs are built to do. The Hellbringer does not have that maneuverability, so while the Shadowcat CAN replace the kitfox, the Hellbringer CAN'T.
TL;DR: It's not about getting the most value per ton, it's about what role each mech serves. Shadowcat takes the Kitfoxes jobs, the Cheetah does not.

Nope, I think the Hopper needs work especially in twisting, it just does not feel like a fast, mobile platform. The fast part is deceiving due to height but mobile, it just does not twist and respond correctly.

Give it a spot on that screen when you start MWO where the pic changes between 4-5 different top items.

look at the QKD. thats oversized.
the catapult is and always was be a fat mech. just like the awesome.
the cat needs the lrm ears redone, thats true but considering that the catapult torso doesnt even reach the QKD shoulders im not the one hyperboling here.
No the Catapult has not always been the fat, pudgy kid in class who ate at McDonald's an entire year just to get a large pile of dirty talking Minion toys.
Original Catapult art.
K2.
Miniature.
Even the Arrow IV using C3 was OK.
All those had a smaller body, smaller launchers and longer legs. MWO and MWLL gave us the Fatapult with MWO fattening the ears.

Well no and yes.
Yes the Shadowcat will be easier to hit while in the open, but it will also be better at ridge peeking (making it harder to hit). I also don't think it can be said that the kitfox was ever hard to hit; it is after all fighting with the Cent right now to be rescaled. Still you have a point, and my concern over the Shadowcat's hitboxes is why I have voted for the KFX in this poll. If hitboxes ruin the Shadowcat then I want to be able to fall back on my Kitfox, which thus far has been my all time favorite mech.
Where I disagree with you whole-heartedly is this absurd comparison of an Executioner to a Direwhale. The Executioner is supposed to be a more nimble assault and I think it makes a fine addition to MWO. The whale on the otherhand can barely be considered an assault mech. The bloody thing has over 50 tons of podspace; it should really be put in a class of it's own x3 . The whale and the Executioner, despite being within 5 tons of each other, are about as different as assault mechs can be.

the mech itself not.
it has that torsoshape (fat) and nothing will change it.

You underestimate my ability to lose against all odds.
I remember this one time I lost my Cataphract to a legged 4xMG spider, who managed to crit my Gauss rifle, which exploded and killed me.

Did you mean, "cretin?" I mean, I know the Clan education system isn't very good, what with not being able to spell your own slang portmanteaus, but really...
