nope. timeline should not be moved upto 3060. because the clan homeworlds are conquered by then. it would make no sense for IS and clans to still be fighting.

Also battletech in general really sucks after 3060. that whole time period should be perpetually avoided. If anything, they should keep the game at 3055-3058 forever.

PGI has already Stated that MWO is Alternate TimeLine,
as such even though Events will be Lore Driven their outcomes are not,
so that Future may not be the Future for CW in MWO, just an Event,

Edit-
if PGI doesnt want to move the TimeLine up,
then they should at least allow for 3060 Tech to enter the game,

oh god... MRM40s...
As much as I would love that, i think it would be incredably hard trying to balance a 40 damage, mid range shotgun.
Suddenly, IS assaults start looking like walking honeycombs. All of them
Surely they would be used as just insane brawling weapons.

Oh my... stalkers... 3 x MRM40

The OP mentioned making them stream instead of working like a shotgun. I picture them working similar to clan ACs but much slower and with vulnerability to AMS. I think the combo of having to lead your target, stay on target for the entire salvo, limited ammo, and AMS working against you would help keep them balanced. I'm sure they will throw Ghost Heat in there somewhere as well.

Light weight ballistics are needed. AP Gauss and Mag shot please.

those weapons are around 3066-70, so not likely anytime soon,
i think these 3060 weapons would help Balance Tech out,

I agree but unfortunately as it could already be out i cant add it to the list,
as this List is about Only Future(3060) Timeline weapons,

i do however have another Topic that Discusses Missing Weapons,
(Weapon Invasion, New Intershere Weapon Options!)
i dont have GB-Gauss in the Topic but i'll add it,

I do not think PGI will be in a rush to add all the new weapons. Their philosophy has always been to make weapon upgrades more like side grades- They will want the IS ACs to still be viable to any new UACs, much like how the AC5 has not been totally replaced by the UAC5.

The lightweight engines would completely replace XL and Standard engines.

If they added more UACs for the IS I would imagine them being burst fire, like Clan UACs.

XPulse lasers would just replace pulse lasers.

I don't think HACs would be popular.

And it would be hard to design MRMs to be different enough from SRMs while keeping them useful.

I really like the idea of adding MRMs. They would require face time to get the full volley to hit and, since they don't track, you would have to continuously lead the target while firing which would prevent using them with lasers unless the target was stationary.

Since they are supposed to be compact they could even reuse the art from the current LRMs. MRM10 could look like an LRM5 and fire two missiles per hole. Same with MRM20=LRM10, MRM30=LRM15, MRM40=LRM20.

Lord please give me some MRMs that stream launch and have an arc travel.

They aren't giving mechs Battle Value the way a lot of people are thinking. In reality they really shouldn't have used the word "battle value" because I think it has mislead a lot of people. PGI is spending time assigning mechs a 'battle value' in house so they can determine what mechs need buffs the most and what mechs need them the least. They are going to use these battle values to help guide themselves in balancing the mechs since they can't do it through gameplay experience like we players do.

In short the 'battlevalue' system isn't going to be a game mechanic, it's a buzzword they used to draw attention to the fact that they're going to try to be more careful and precise with their balancing. Russ clarified several times during a town hall that MWO was not getting a battlevalue mechanic. Don't get your hopes up fellas.

MRMs... meh. They would have to be incredibly fast in order to hit stuff past 300m, and it don't see PGI making them as fast as PPCs. I see them as a huge waste of tonnage, except as a replacement for SRMs, and that's only if they have a tighter spread.

If they travel roughly as fast as an AC/20 round...I can make them work.

If we spent more time making new weapons instead of new quirks, balance would be a whole new story. It would be more like which bad ass weapon gets nerfed first. I mean with weapons like Plasma, X Pulse and Heavy Gauss, who needs Extended Range.

This thread clearly delivers and I hope the right people at PGI see it and consider the 3060 jump.

I'm in no hurry to see these weapons appear (although the I.S. streak 4s and 6s and UAC/LBX 2s/10s and 20s arn't to much power creep since these already exist as clantech weapons and have I.S. weights and crit slots.

My actuall favorite time period to play Table top Battletech is between 3037-3045.The technology revival brought on by the discovery of the Helm memory core.

No clan tech no omni mechs no geneticly engineered super soldiers no battle armor etc...

light gausses would be nice and lighter AC's since it enables a better variety of guns for many mediums and light mechs.

When do Plasma rifles and cannons appear? I'd love an ammo dependent PPC that added heat to my foes. You could add a cap for maximum external heat transfer, just like in TT, to help prevent it being too overpowered.

these weapons have no points. Ammo + high heat? lol, in lore they had purposes for forces, or by costs. but in MWO, there is no place for such a bad system

If they somehow worked in the extra heat to the target - either as a straight increase to the target's heat or as a dissipation debuff, i'd argue that they were at least... well, different.
