Top:
Left: lists primary and secondary objectives (something to do with a dropship in this case).
Middle: Lock on warning
Right: Weapon Display, including ammo

Center (from the left):
1) Blank/Unused
2) Mech being targeted (possibly centurion?)
3) Communication display? Full artwork here.
4) Radar - Notice the top says Active.
5) (Top) Compass/Heading - Notice it has an enemy marked on it, and what appears to be 2 waypoints.
6) (bottom left) Throttle/Speed
7) (bottom center) Jump Jet fuel
8) (bottom right) Overheat warning - looks to be unlit.
9) Heat using core temperature. The mech is at 50%, so maybe core is a baseline.
10) Mech status/damage
11) Blank/Unused

Bottom:
Computer for input and logs. This would show startup procedures, alert messages, and allow interaction with the mech.

Mech Controls:
This pilot prefers the Saitek flight systems.

Red Box - Players view point. Notice that non-essential monitors (blank ones) are not visible.

Limited View - The view changes depending on the mech you are in. Some mechs are going to have a lower field of visibility because of their design, and this will effect gameplay.

Heat Monitor - Because the heat scale seems to begin at 50%, colder planets may start with a lower base temperate (say 25%) resulting in more shooty time before overheating. This also gives pilots immediate data on on the environment is going to reflect their load out.

Possibilities - If each of these is an independent object with scaleform texturing loaded onto it, then players would be able to move the screens around however they wish. There could also be different (not better - different) screens that could be purchased to replace the default ones. It means that the color and lines could be dynamically set to whatever is aesthetically pleasing to the particular pilot.

Furthermore, scaleform would allow for real-time feeds to be processed inside the cockpit from UAV's enhanced imaging etc, increasing immersion and eliminating the need for 3rd person mode.

Alright, I am unable to right-click and select Save Image As... anywhere on these forums... does anyone have any idea why?

S3dition, that's insane.

Very nice. I got a little chuckle out of the "consumer grade" joystick and throttle.

Thats a Dragon being targeted. You can make it out easier on the bigger image when you click on it.

on 2nd/ 3rd look...maybe not.

This forum is a better place for that question.

Thank you. Credit also goes to No Guts No Galaxy. We were discussing the images prior to the pod cast starting up.

I thought that too at first, but look at the right arm. It has a slight downward angle. The dragon's right arm is perfectly straight, like the rifleman/jaggermech.

It's possible that it's a variant of some sort or early artwork as well.

Love the assessment on the cockpit image.

The screen at the top left (the one listed for objectives), from what I can make out what I read elsewhere it looks like it might be more for communication than objectives. Or perhaps it just shows the comm traffic related to objectives instead of point form objectives?

I thought it was Dragon that was being targetted as well, but the right arm appears off compared to the released concept art. Though a Centurion, as mentioned elsewhere, fits the bill and a Thorn (mentioned in the facebook album) kind of does as well (I'm sure there are several more that could probably fit it closely too)

"This pilot prefers the Saitek flight systems."

Oh yeah baby! it's the way i prefer to roll!

Lord I haven't played a mech game that actually USED cockpit monitors since Earthsiege 2, and boy am I glad that it looks to be coming back!

I see a head fin on the mech, makes me think its a Centurion.

I bought one of those in 2009 when the trailer was released. It's been waiting on my shelf for 2 freaking years!

At least I can finally justify it though ;)

Ah, wasn't able to make that out, now that I have an idea of what it says I can clearly see that on the bottom portion of the screen (what appears to be the only part you would see normally if the red square is your typical field of view). So the top portion must be like a condensed mission brief or comm brief.

Actually in addition to

If you read the VERY first line, it says "Commander: We need to (destroy?) that dropship before they can take off. Otherwise they'll just keep *intagible* (me?). If you can *rest is intangible*", so its a mission briefing/comms brief sort of thing.

S3dition, thanks for brilliant analysis.

Some of the sketchy comm traffic makes me wonder what the development team is thinking along the lines of ECM.

Not sure if this got mentioned yet or not, but if you look at the top of the right hand screen (showing the weapons info) it states that Burst fire is selected (possible fire mode for the AC-20 or maybe similar to "Linked Fire" in MW3 weapon groups) and it also states HEAP rounds are selected/loaded. Perhaps alluding to actually having configurable ammo loads or at least different ammo types as discussed elsewhere on the boards.

Love it love it love it.

BUT!

The center console is far too wide. No man, regardless of size, could not comfortably reach the firewalls or move the pedals. Would combine the center 5 screens into 1 large MFD, like the F-35 (look it up). Would move the radio stack from the ceiling to the right side of the cockpit, and remove one of those side panels, as one is identical to the other in every way. Where that center-bottom console is, add an ejection lever.

Just some tuning for ya. Nice 'pit!

Sharp eyes.

I would really love if they included different rounds for ACs. No other Mechwarrior game has done that.

oh yeah, AND a mechanic like that would mean that FINALLY LBX AC's could be appropriately dual-purpose rather than -just- used to fling giant buckshot. I want to fire really big shotgun slugs gorramit!

Someone on facebook suggested that the "Report C.... do you read?" could be, "Report Cadet do you read?"

That fits, and it also fills in the following line.

"Received. Thank god team leader"

Puts the whole thing as

Quote

Are you reading this?
Report Cadet do you read?

Received thank god team leader
They hit us fast we cant run
Jammed my ac20 is jammed

Coolant ruptured

Tell my husband I love him

Seems like the first part is the lance leader trying to reach another member, the stuff in between I'm not clear on (all the capitalized stuff, could be computer readouts if it is intercepted transmissions as appears suggested). The italics would be the cadet reporting back to the team leader, the bold a computer warning voice heard in the background (suggested on facebook regarding the messages).
