The best laugh is when someone is caught hacking who you remember as bad.
WTF... what guy was hacking? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Somebody like that was on the last list. Driven me out of my old unit.
The satisfaction, I cannot possibly describe it

We're the moronic ******** that voted 'em in...
You were the (in your own words) "moronic ******** that voted 'em in", not me. (Or in other words, I am no Yank. )
On the other hand, I have been one of those trying desperately to undo the damage. But I'm not even done yet and some of the people you moronic ******** ( ) voted in are already itching to start another batch of troubles (i.e. war with Iran). <smh>

Luckily I task manager killed it and ran the repair tool. Fully operational!
Yes, this was a joke, but it really happened. Apparently it has happened to others before? Repair tool just cleared my shaders and was good to go.
Patcher has been ****** up for me of late. The last one it froze while installing then just disappeared. Ran it again and it was redownloading the whole game -.-

I believe Mystere was referring to the witch hunt hysteria that pervaded the game directly after the first Ban Wave was announced. We always had some of that in this game, but it got really bad right after that announcement as most people were under the impression, for reasons totally unknown to me, that no one could use hacks in MWO, so they suddenly started accusing EVERYONE who killed them of using hacks once they KNEW they existed.
On the other hand, before the bans, everyone who questioned cheating in the game was basically called an idiot, told how it was "impossible to cheat in MWO" - despite absolutely no facts supporting that claim, which was then usually followed by a story about how the person who denied the existence of cheaters was themselves "accused of cheating because of how awesome they are." The thread usually ended with lots of snark and "git gud" nonsense, while people swapped stories about how they are sooooo skilled in the game that they could easily be mistaken for cheaters. It was nothing but laughable idiocy, which is why I greatly enjoyed the public name and shame of the cheaters, not only because they are pathetic losers, but because it also silenced the "nobody can cheat in this game, but look at mah skillz!" crowd for awhile.

I was in spectator mode and seen a guys aim bot bug out. Lots of funny stuff. I think the next ban wave will be just as big or larger. I also think they ban players for cheating without announcing it.

Banwave 2
They should make it into an event. Hand out Banhammer cockpit items and stuff. Leaderboards and personal challenges.

And that was a sad thing, because it was all bs, but some of us didn't tell them they didn't exist, we knew better.

Hacks existed for MWO before it was released for CB, it's a CryEngine 3 game, hacks for it have been around for a bit and they all worked just fine when MWO hit CB with only slight tweaking done to them. They actually did things like change weapon damage, make you impossible to kill, wallhack, aimbot, all that stuff, because the game was still all clientside auth at first. Once they changed the netcode to serverside auth, the hacks all ceased to work for a short time. But, being that the maker of the working hack DOES make money off it, it was updated to work in MWO fairly quickly, but without all the previous hacks being usable, now only wallhack and aimbot work, serverside auth kills all the rest so anyone telling you someone's using a damage/armor hack, full of it, those don't work unless you actually hack the SERVER, and that's something that would be noticed real damn quick by everyone.
MWO's hack is a business deal, the folks doing it make money, charge a monthly fee, and they update it whenever they realize it's been compromised. Thing is, PGI probably has a couple of accounts for the hack, so they see the updates they moment they are released and can fix them. So anyone using the hack is going to be caught, that IS a given. Keep in mind, the folks who make the working hack, they do it for GRIEFING purposes, they WANT it to be caught, they WANT the exposure for their hack so people will visit their site and buy it to get back at the people who griefed them. They actually push for their customers to spam the games with their website while using the hack, their forums are a very good view into the mindset of the people using their products, and of the mindset of the people making them. It ain't a pretty view either.
Mystere, the dichotomy of your statements about the name and shame compared to your sigline...really cracks me up, especially with that bonfire pic you just posted

Out of all the players banned, only 1 was notable at all and she long had suspicions about her from proven people before she got banned. Everyone else were randos.
In 99% of cheating claims, replies of 'git gud' are warranted.
