Ever Gotten So Lazy To Deal With A Fresh Active Enemy Assault Mech That You Decided To Just Deliberately Headcap It?

I think I've surprised more than a few lazy Atlas pilots with that one...100% mech health to headshot death in one shot.

Nothing, and I mean nothing incites panic like laser vomit splattering all over the windsheid. Gauss or autocannon face hits are over in an instant, and it's easy to write off the panic. However, if your cockpit is suddenly filled with emerald and azure light, you panic like you're at a party... sitting next to Bill Cosby, and the room has started spinning.
If I have any mech staring me down, laser vom to the face will make them twist to protect themselves every single time, yet I almost never remember to do it.
I even printed out a craply drawn poster of an Atlas head with the catchy slogan "Always aim for faces!" and stuck it next to my machine, but I just can't seem to get away from aiming at center mass.

Unfortunately due to my latency, I can't actually headshot other mechs. Even in training mode, targeting the cockpit simply gives me a torso hit.

because any combination of weapons that 18 stops, 16 also stops.
Although if you only use 16 you risk dying from a dual gauss critical hit... but that happens pretty infrequently.
they really do need to fix critical hits so the amount of extra structure damage is based proportionally on the damage done to the structure rather than the damage of the weapon.
So like a gauss that does 1 damage to internal structure should only do bonus damage based on that 1 damage
Rather than doing bonus damage based on its 15 damage.

This.
Was super annoyed the other day when I nailed a Timberwolf in the cockpit with dual ERPPC and he didn't go down. Dark dark red crit but no death.

In my Gauss Yager, I try to remind myself as much as possible to aim for faces.
Sometimes I feel bad, especially if I punch a hole in a light, but then there are those moments where a DireWolf stands atop a rocky precipice, raining death down upon your team, disdaining to carry out even the barest hint of torso twisting...
Until my carefully aimed gauss splatters their tiny DireBrains all over the DireFloor.
It's especially cathartic if they call you a cheater afterwards.
[WhinyDire]: "OMG I NEVER DIE TO HEADSHOTS IMMA REPORT YOU AAAAAAA"
[Kiiyor]: "You should learn to torso twist. I think there are videos of it on YouTube. Just search for MWO new player guides or something like that."
[Kiiyor]: "You're welcome!"
[WhinyDire]: "&#@$*( &*@#(* %$&#$$^^&@ ^$#^*& $# (##($*$"
Hey now... be fair!
Dire's have the ability to torso twist the same way a brick doesn't. They may be able to boat a lot of weapons, but they still maneuver like a drunk 747 on its landing gear.
That being said, yes I love unloading a gauss, ppc, ac20 into the cockpit.
