Ever Gotten So Lazy To Deal With A Fresh Active Enemy Assault Mech That You Decided To Just Deliberately Headcap It?

I always, always try for a headshot on an Atlas that isn't smart enough to be constantly twisting, their left eye is a sure kill from nearly any mech alpha.

I think I've surprised more than a few lazy Atlas pilots with that one...100% mech health to headshot death in one shot.

Yuppers... JR7-F=30point alpha to the face and a whole lot of people strip out some of their head armor on mediums and heavies. You leg me and stop moving? Welcome to headshot town, population you.

best is when you head cap a light at full tilt. It doesn't happen often but when it does it is ever so funny

More likely its a CT explosion but *shrug*

My favorite is when I hit the cockpit and crit it, but not kill the mech. Player's often freak out once that critical damage alarm goes off, and most often it's right behind the cover they're poking from...

...and that's when the arty strike goes off.

Nothing, and I mean nothing incites panic like laser vomit splattering all over the windsheid. Gauss or autocannon face hits are over in an instant, and it's easy to write off the panic. However, if your cockpit is suddenly filled with emerald and azure light, you panic like you're at a party... sitting next to Bill Cosby, and the room has started spinning.

If I have any mech staring me down, laser vom to the face will make them twist to protect themselves every single time, yet I almost never remember to do it.

I even printed out a craply drawn poster of an Atlas head with the catchy slogan "Always aim for faces!" and stuck it next to my machine, but I just can't seem to get away from aiming at center mass.

I think I've suffered head-shot kills twice in my various Atlases. The way I look at it, if a player's good enough at aiming to land a strike on my left eye socket while I'm trundling around the map at a hair-raising 63 Kph then best of luck to them, that's a genuine ability to aim :D

As prior military, I'm trained to fire center mass. Which is what I do unless/until my target info gathering shows me weak spots, and then I target them. Or if it's a mech with a specific load out, like an Atlas D-DC (bye ECM) or a dual Gauss Jager (bye ST). In any case, as a result of my center mass targeting I have maybe five head shots? I think the game counts them. I should check. I should maybe attempt a head shot once in a while.

I had such thing on Terra Therma - went around the corner and there was a fresh enemy Atlas. we watched eachother for a second, then i shot him in the left eye with my 6xMPL rack. I love my Hunch-4P :)

I died a few times as light early in my career from headshots. Those were the days before ingame VoIP. I was trying to type to my team that I spotted a bunch assaults heading to me, then I got splattered. Eventually I learn to just type location, get the heck out, then report who's coming.

Unfortunately due to my latency, I can't actually headshot other mechs. Even in training mode, targeting the cockpit simply gives me a torso hit.

because any combination of weapons that 18 stops, 16 also stops.

Although if you only use 16 you risk dying from a dual gauss critical hit... but that happens pretty infrequently.

they really do need to fix critical hits so the amount of extra structure damage is based proportionally on the damage done to the structure rather than the damage of the weapon.

So like a gauss that does 1 damage to internal structure should only do bonus damage based on that 1 damage
Rather than doing bonus damage based on its 15 damage.

I've been headshot in my Mist Lynx, while mid-air and torso turning.
Some people are just plain good.

This.

Was super annoyed the other day when I nailed a Timberwolf in the cockpit with dual ERPPC and he didn't go down. Dark dark red crit but no death.

1st day after ACH was released, viridian bog in my totally and irredeemably outdated MLX. Cheetah comes, fires at me (well close enough) with twice as much firepower, more speed and armor than me, repeats and over heats then it is beheaded ... felt really good; one of the last good memories I will have in my beloved little stunt, rest in peace. Mist Lynx was a bad mech that had some small things going for it that made it worth a ride .... not any more, there is nothing Lynx does that ACH can't do better at no cost.

OH GOD YES.

In my Gauss Yager, I try to remind myself as much as possible to aim for faces.

Sometimes I feel bad, especially if I punch a hole in a light, but then there are those moments where a DireWolf stands atop a rocky precipice, raining death down upon your team, disdaining to carry out even the barest hint of torso twisting...

Until my carefully aimed gauss splatters their tiny DireBrains all over the DireFloor.

It's especially cathartic if they call you a cheater afterwards.

[WhinyDire]: "OMG I NEVER DIE TO HEADSHOTS IMMA REPORT YOU AAAAAAA"
[Kiiyor]: "You should learn to torso twist. I think there are videos of it on YouTube. Just search for MWO new player guides or something like that."
[Kiiyor]: "You're welcome!"
[WhinyDire]: "&#@$*( &*@#(* %$&#$$^^&@ ^$#^*& $# (##($*$"

Hey now... be fair!

Dire's have the ability to torso twist the same way a brick doesn't. They may be able to boat a lot of weapons, but they still maneuver like a drunk 747 on its landing gear.

That being said, yes I love unloading a gauss, ppc, ac20 into the cockpit.
