Absolute garbage. Seriously, give them 1 dps again.

Has anyone ever considered them OP? I just don't understand why they were nerfed in the first place.

For 1 ton you can get 2 small lasers that easily outdps a few of them, with negligible heat.

So I guess I'll wait in a corner all game until the enemy is armorless just to come out and do mediocre dps with my machine guns...

Why are they so hardheaded about this? Everyone wants mgs buffed.

And yes, the shadowcat is underwhelming, and yes I do want my 6 MG build to shine. B)

The crit system in this game hardly makes sense, if you're armorless you're most likely to get destroyed by sheer damage anyways.

If I had my way, they'd remove the "crit weapon" malarkey all together; what use is a "crit weapon" in a game where EVERY weapon has a 42% chance to crit, and the crit system is so inane as to make any weapon doing more than 3 points damage better than any amount of "crit weapons" at actually critting out components?

Just make the MGs do regular, worthwhile damage.

My Clan Arrow shines just fine as it is now....a slight Buff wouldn't be terrible.

I remember when the Ember used to be pretty decent due to those MG's being a fine backup weapon. But they didnt just lower the dmg they lowered the crits too i thought.

Mass crit attacks?


They do get a 9x crit damage multiplier...of which 15% is actual damage. Gauss, PPCs and IS ACs are better crit weapons. Hell, with Clan mechs they can even get higher crit rates, up to 54%. A single crit from any of those weapons will destroy 95% of the items in the game. AC20 being the only exception, which has 18HP.

MGs have a 52% chance to crit, compared to 42% chance from every normal weapon.



They received two nerfs, on for crit chance from 67% to 52%, the other a straight up 20% damage nerf.

Between the two, it took a 25% DPS nerf. The most nerfed weapon in the game, and one of the worst. At least they get 900% crit damage...as opposed to the 10% Flamers get. Still not great crit weapons, because crit padding makes it rather poor at it.

Don't forget continuous facetime.

And the IS version has crap cone of fire, so the effective range is more like 40 meters.

But really I don't care about the crits. Having weapons that only shine after the outcome of a battle is decided was a terrible idea, even in theory. In practice they don't even do that.

All MGs have a 3M CoF. Clam and IS alike.


They're identical stat wise, only difference being weight.

When the Ember came out we already had Mk. VI MGs; the latest nerf was a pre-emptive nerf due to them fixing the hit-reg of the MG so all projectiles actually registered. It was quite an unnecessary nerf.

Because PGI is so blind to the game mechanics that they think Critical percentage means anything in this game.

Yep, and 900% of 0.08 is still only 0.72 damage - about 9.28 damage short of actually destroying the average internal component.

just bring the damage up to 0.09, that should bring significant improvement. i wouldnt mind giving up some crit chance if we could get more armor damage. right now the machine gun's niche is finishing off mechs with open structure, i wouldn't mind having something that is better against fresh armor.
