Can you play against other people in Shadowrun Returns? Me thinks therein lies your answer...
CN:No you can't.
I don't think it'd rule out multiplayer for Battletech, might be a stretch goal for the Kickstarter and HBS has to know how important it is to Battletech/Mechwarrior players. Even if it's a post launch expansion...I'd be fine as long as the core game is solid as hell and once the multiplayer aspect hits (or earlier) there will be a robust game editor like Shadowrun has.

Jordan's name is in the credits of the first rulebook. Those ARE his rules for his vision of Battletech.
A lot changes in 25 years and we just aren't sure how hardcore he'll go on the rules for a RPG game on the computer. Here's hoping it's an in depth experience without getting too bogged down. (Can we have melee finally? =D)

i hope they will use the experience of mwo
when people actually play vs people they quickly realize the problem places of the theoretic design like how boating is incredibly effective and needs special stuff like ghost heat to hold it a bit, how legging is the best strategy unless there is something as generous as we have in mwo - 40 kmh hopping on 1 leg with no problems, i never ever read about torso twisting in any battletech novel either etc
MW:O isn't the only 'mech game to have rampant boating, all the past sim games had it as well. I do hope 'mechs are more stock and if any changes happens they can't be too drastic so different variants and 'mech types matter over "what can I rip out of this 'mech," since Inner Sphere designs aren't supposed to be very modular without a ton of time and a ton of money. Also..there's plenty of torso twisting in the novels...some implied and the rest actually commented on.

MMORPG: In the past there has been some controversy over the use of images. What kind of impact does that have on your art team? Are we going to see the original Mechs or do you plan to go in an entirely new direction?
HBS: Whatever controversy there was regarding images from Southern Cross and Macross was settled over a decade ago, so there will be no impact on our art team.
My biggest question, and one I'm sure a lot of people share... is that this doesn't seem to stack up with what's happened in the last decade. Wonder if we'll ever get a more clear answer or that the unseen redesigns from CGL will help put this to bed for good.
