Battletech more than most tabletop games benefits HUGELY from computer assistance! If they were to stick to tabletop rules that would be too good to be true!

Oh, i can only imagine how awesome Scorpion would look like in this new MW:O artstyle.

Wonder if it will use the same art assets from the now defunct MW:tactics.

Well, from the posters, it seems like they'll be using the art from Mechwarrior: Online instead.

HBS has successfully revitalised Shadowrun with Shadowrun Returns, and I have confidence that they will do the same with Battletech.
Do not be so sure. I had many years worth of satisfaction from Creative Assembly's Total War series, but when I did decide to pre-order Rome 2, the thing turned out to be unplayable rushed out junk. It took nine months, and twelve patches to turn it into something acceptable.
Well known companies are not infallible.

Hopefully it will be a very successful Kickstarter campaign.
The Atlas looks a bit PGIish.
Would be great if HBS and PGI had some kind of deal were HBS would use PGI's artstyle. PGI's Mech designs are just the best.

We can only hope not. Based on the feedback I saw from MW:T, most people hated the MW:T art style. That could only result in utter failure.
Looks like the MW:O art is being used on their webpage, which would be great if PGI allowed it. Might be able to give a jolt to the entire franchise.

Which is why I already know I am backing it. MW:tactics looked awful. MWO has excellent mech models to work from. Now to go full circle and release physical models for BT from the same assets and start selling physical merchandise and you might have an IP that can grow through synergy far better than it did as any of them did alone.

I don't want "watered down" digital card game sub game, mucking about with my TBS.
Well... I can be persuaded, but not likely.

Tanks, Aerospace fighters, infantry, QUADRUPEDS, oh man, i'm already overhyping myself and this game hasn't even started its Kickstarter!

Wow, if it's modable and the engine is versatile enough you could recreate all sorts of history, timelines, battles etc. I could see the player community taking this to great places, not saying the original BT game they make won't be awesome, but with newer tech and the correct platform to mod on, this could go places we have been waiting for, at least for a turn based game.

I also do believe that Russ and the guy behind Harebrained Schemes are friends.
But I am sure this will get a lot of attention off MW:O. I mean, a lot of people here play this game just because it's the only battletech game around.

Those recent Shadow Run games look great. To bad they are turn based. Anyway that cyberpunk atmosphere is the best. I watched some of the game play and it all goes down hill when combat starts. Also first person is always preferred.
Want a good tactical sim? Check out Kenshi. Kenshi > X-com, Shadow Run, but early access. Found on Steam, free demo off steam on their own page, but not F2P.
Anyway I wish the best for anything Battle Tech related thats done well as it will improve hype for this game resulting in more content for Mechwarrior Online hopefully.

Very excited for the @WeBeHarebrained announcement of a turn based #BattleTech game.

Also excited to have an agreement in place with @WeBeHarebrained to bring art style consistency back to the brand.

From then on, there was MechCommander and its sequel, the Front Mission games which were pretty awesome, and my last turn based game had nothing to do with the PC, but was expensive nonetheless --- the Mechwarrior Dark Age games. That was really fun, had a lot of depth that you can't imagine but there is too much lawyering in the interpretation of the rules.
Then there was fantasy turn based tactical games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battles. And then came Disgaea, a franchise that is still running strong today, and turn based games are never the same. Finally, Valkyria Chronicles raised turn based tactical combat to a level that I would never imagine, and never seen again. Valkryia Chronicles was just quality from start to finish.
Anyway, I like to see how Jordan can do this again.

How can they not like it? Have you looked at the poster on the website? The Griffin, Atlas, Locust and Stalker seem to be pulled straight from MWO.
If they didn't like it, they wouldn't be letting HBS use their art assets.
