So What Is The Point Of The Mist Lynx Now That The Ac Literally Does Everything Better?

-AC has way more hardpoints
-More armor
-Better hitboxes
-Also has ECM
-Runs faster
I hope the balance pass introduces features / address situations like this where one mech totally makes another pointless in every single way. Lights should not be just about how many small lasers you can boat....

It's great nostalgia.
How about CAP removal? That would be something worth aiming for!

I dunno but yeah, it literally has zero use, functionality or reason to exist right now.

mist lynx gets tinier not so ugly weapon pods on the arms when
mist lynx gets better quirks (a summoner like speed quirk, heat gen quirks) and possibly another version with some torso energy hardpoints for better builds when
all the lights get 10 true dubs when

Equip MGs and flamers on it. Or the AC2.

also note that ach has ecm in the torso while mlx in the arm... and picking that ecm arm lynx forfeits any chance to pack even 4 lasers
on top of the cake ach has a better cockpit with a significantly better view

Other than that I can't figure out another reason to keep them.

The Spider, Vindicator, Shadow Cat, Griffin, and Wolverine can jump better than it. The problem is, most are better off not mounting that many JJs, and the Mist Lynx is no different.

Remove its hardwired CAP, give it an extra 10% speed boost quirk, give it torso energy?
Guess what - the Cheetah is still 100% superior to the Lynx in all ways and forms. More weapons, better weapon/ECM placement, still faster, still better pod space...all of those fixes result in a 'Mech which is simply a bit less crushingly inferior to the Cheetah without actually giving it a role the Cheetah doesn't handily outdo it in.
Better idea - give the Mist Lynx some hardcore bonuses to things like its hardwired probe. Double the ECCM range for the Lynx, double the TIG bonus. Give the Lynx something like four 'Mech module slots. Give it a role, albeit a very narrow one, as the superior reconnaisance/IW 'Mech, when Paul gets around to rebuilding IW the way he's promised to do.
Nothing you can do to the Lynx will ever make it anything but an embarrassment as a combat light now that the Arctic Cheetah's here. Make it an EW platform instead and at least it has a job the Cheetah can't do, even if that job is narrow and generally not desired by many.

nope, it's a shame, but lynx lost even that
45 tonners shadowcat and vindicator 1aa, even 55 tonners griffin 1n, 1s, 3m, sparky, and wolverine 6r, 7k, quarantine jump better than lynx since the class 4 jj buff
anyway ach jumps not that much worse than mlx

The Clans rank their units into a series of categories based on intended role, skill and equipment level. Front-line units, always composed of trueborns, are the primary assault forces of the Clans. They utilize the best resources the Clan has, organized into combined-arms formations - OmniMechs, OmniFighters and Battle Armored Elementals - and assigned the most important missions in a campaign.[61][62][63]
Second-line units are a Clan's reserve and garrison force, used to hold ground taken by front-line units or to attack secondary objectives. These forces typically consist of trueborn warriors less skilled or who have aged past the point where they are still worthy of serving in front-line units, and while not given the latest equipment many still possess Omni technology and given good logistical support. A step down from second-line units, though in the same category, are provisional garrison units. These forces are held in the rear to clean up after front- and second-line units and hold less-important targets. Such units rarely use Omni technology or battle armored Elementals, instead making due with conventional BattleMechs and aerospace fighters, along with combat vehicles and unarmored infantry. Some Clans make no distinction between second-line Clusters and Provisional Garrison Clusters (PGCs), leading to a larger reserve force with admittedly greater inequality between units. Freeborns, regardless of skill, are assigned to second-line units if a Clan allows them to serve as warriors.[61][62][63]
Lastly are solahma units, the proverbial bottom of the barrel. Equipped primarily as infantry units, occasionally with outdated vehicles or 'Mechs, they are given the least prestigious assignments like bandit hunting. Consisting of aged or disgraced warriors these units may occasionally be ordered, in the face of overwhelming odds and near-certain death, to hold a location or attack an enemy as part of a major campaigns. A Clan planet's defense militia force will consist of solahma units.[61][62][63]
