Hunchback Grid Iron + 4P Are Now Useless

The 4P... uh... 2MPL+6ML= easy legging AND you out range their cSPL. Frankly the cERLL and Gauss spam is more problematic for the 4p than anything.

It's really frustrating leveling my new hunchies. Gauss still hits fine. LRMs obviously do just as well no matter the latency.
With AC20s, I'm watching round after round seemingly strike enemy mechs, but do no actual damage. Or worse yet, they fly directly through the mech without even exploding. So far it's a 50/50 if my round does damage or not, even firing center mass at a seemingly stationary target.
I mastered my 4J and Grid Irons, so I'm just shoveling the 4G into the junk bin. Time to level the rest of my new easy mode clan mechs.

lag and much slower projectile. So HSR probably really screws you on it. Gauss moves fast enough, the latency probably doesn't matter much.

Yup. It really tells me how bad players have it over there when they are fighting on NA/Euro servers.
Now I know the frustrations they have. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Your torso will bust open 100%. Only good games I managed to get are those that after hyper manouvering I manage to protect my toro and spread arround the dmg a little bit more, a tactic that was the only way to play those hunchbacks anyway (specially 4P). But I say again, every mid skill player and higher will never even bother hitting you anywhere else... back + front side torso = gg.
I won't even bother about lights getting on your back unnoticed because that was always a desaster
Mechs are only useless to the incompetent.

And its really no different than any of the other mechs that all their weapons on one side or lumped up into one torso just waiting to be lopped off the first time you make a mistake. The Cheetah really isn't any sort of determining factor in this at all, its just a fast medium mech in a lights body and not even all that scary if you can shoot halfway decent.

You have two mechs with Power Ranger Super Quirks™, able to shoot other mechs as though you're a 'Mech twice the weight of the Hunchback, and you still want to cry that the 'Mech is dead/broken/bad?
For pete's sake, it's a 50 ton medium 'Mech, you're not supposed to be able to stand around and faceroll while staring at the enemy team going "TROLOLOLOL I R HUNCHIE".
Guess what people, the Hunchback isn't a bad 'Mech. It wasn't ever a bad 'Mech. It was a fine 'Mech back when it had no quirks.
Do you know what the problem really is, and always was?
PILOTS THAT SUCK AT PLAYING HUNCHBACKS.
Kill the quirks, and get better at piloting your 'Mechs by learning all the roles and tradeoffs related to raw tonnage.

As one of the last Inner Sphere pilots who hasnt quit because of Clan easy mode I look forward to when there is balance. All you Omni mech pilots on your alt Inner Sphere accounts need not respond to this reply.
When Inner Sphere mechs have a fair chance qagainst Omni mechs and the crutch seeking Can players are crying like 250 pund man babies I will be responding with alot of "HAHAHAHAHAH" replies. See if Im wrong.

Yes they do, I whould prefer to see them dialed down a litlte bit in favor of at least some extra armor on that torso. I don't know I used to do amazing with them now they seem like a really bad pick, specially for competitive games.
and the hunchies have both stupidly high quirks (- 50% gauss cooldown +50 MPL range) AND +18 armor +12 structure on RT.
believe me, the grid iron is a hell of a medium. if you're going to rambo vs cheetas, you're doing it wrong. call a streakboat for support or 2shot their legs when they're busy chewing your assaults.
or you sound like "buff my 2gauss 2lpl 6cerml direwolf, cos i cant wtfblast a strafing cheetah in one shot".
no.
EDIT:
the Hunchie 4G with AC20 can chew lights (not 1 vs a lance of course) but get better at shooting legs. AC20 works
also the wang is funny to engage cheetas with, or the BJ-1X. all of them can chew light legs. if you really cant aim or want to do it quickier, move to a streakcrow 5CSSRM6 ART+TAG+BAP.

*rolls eyes and sighs*
I play both IS and Clan mechs. I have played both, I will continue to play both.
Until the balance update comes, there isn't anything concrete anybody can say. But, to this point, there has been no balance, only "flavor of the month" power creep.
IS mechs currently have an overwhelming advantage over Clan omnis, on top of being exceedingly cheaper. Those advantages will be sharpened when we see the IIC mechs come out that enjoy the current MWO benefits of IS mechs while carrying Clan-tech gear...which is the only real advantage most Clan omnis have over IS mechs.
Quirks aren't the way, not when it throws weapon/engine/tonnage/critical-space rules out the window - and any chance at balance along with it.

The Grid Iron's quirks are a bit fantastic, but the 4P? The 4P gets some beam duration reduction and that is about it. There is nothing fanatical about it's quirks. It's still probably one of the best platforms to train someone how to manage heat because it is hot all the time.
Now if you want to remove ghost heat from the Hunchback, now THAT would make it awesome. Well, that or an increase to energy range.
Double energy range... RISE OF THE PARTY BACK!
