Seriously, though; we know the devs read posts, because they respond to them - do we really need semi-regular topics painting ourselves as victimized, unloved children of the development team?

I hope its not pointless, this forum is fountain of knowledge and insight into the Mechwarrior Online game. Where the great thinkers of our age drop pearls of wisdom into making the ultimate online game. Where game developers go to seek words of enlightenment concerning the proper way to make games.

Where else does one go to seek the advice of the top level "Armchair Developers" on the planet but to the Forums of the Games those same AD's play. It just doesn't get any better... :)

Some people got outraged. Other people said it wasn't so bad. Still others got outraged the original group was outraged.

Memes resulted.

....

Again... I read the forums daily. I do not have the time to respond to them because that would generally lead to a discussion. If I did this for every post/idea/feedback thread I would have zero time to get my day to day and feature planning tasks done. The forums actually ARE the best place to give feedback/suggestions. The CM (Tina) also collates and highlights all high activity threads for us which are brought up in a weekly production meeting.

I guess this is me asking you not to make the assumption that the forums are a deadzone where feedback goes to die. I use twitter probably once or twice every two weeks. If I'm looking for the heartbeat of a certain topic.. I come here. Not Twitter, not Instagram, not Facebook, not Reddit.... here.. the MWO Forums.

I guess that begs the question: Which section gets the most attention from Devs? Feature Suggestions seems rather dead, and Gen Disco gets buried in no time.

Seems more and more like an echochamber these days. The struggles of the vocal minority. (in patcher polls plz)

Requirement #1 in forum feedback... actually acknowledging there's a problem.

Once acknowledged, then there's a potential for a healing process.

Otherwise, we're going to get slightly more bitter over time.

This doesn't happen often enough, thus issues get repeated over time.

We used to have section that acknowledged all the active bugs in the game. That disappeared probably due to maintenance/upkeep of that subforum.

If you ever wanted to quell repeat posts about the issue, you'd have a subforum (probably worked on Alex Garden) just to keep people apprised.

The longer a bug (or related issue) continues to linger on, unaddressed... it's almost like saying you don't know or don't care to address it.

So, it is what it is. Communication in the forums should always be a two way street.. even if your time is precious, addressing things clearly and concisely (whatever the matter is about) is all important when you have the time.

This.

For all you PGI employees reading this thread, this post right here.

The forums are never better than when we see you guys talking to us, acknowledging our concerns, feedback, and yes, whines.

If we don't see you post, it's easy (if not very justified) to jump to the conclusion that you don't read, and from there it's just a short hop, skip, and (illogical) jump to "PGI doesn't care", and the forums get worse.

So basically what I'm saying is that you have to post, not just read. You don't have to do it 24/7 like ol' Joe, but without a few new posts a day from someone at PGI, the forums become a worse place.

Not surprised they dont reply often because it easy for players to make stupid replies and some good ones, but if they made even the smallest mistake some players would make a big deal out of it right.

For the record, I've said this a lot more to prior to Tina's arrival... when Niko was still around, and publicly. I don't think I mentioned this to Garth as much, but the theme was still the same then than it is now.

The biggest problem that has existed for PGI... as long as I've been around in the forums (since early Open Beta anyways) is that the communication is never where it needs to be, and that PGI's consistent failings has to do with poor PR.

I think I've tried to made this clear since it keeps propping up, and while I personally don't think anything has come of it, it's always been something that comes up now and again, to varying degrees. Being diplomatic as much as I possibly can, may probably reach a boiling point... but then again it's easier to point out the hypocrisy or errors through humor instead. (If you wanted to know what I really think, you'd probably not like what you hear.)

TL;DR
Anyways, it is what it is, and I don't expect an actual change anytime soon unless another mech is going onsale soon™. Giving free PR lessons is easy (I'm not even in that field to care, nor an expert), but being responsive to things is very important (not everything is important, but things that are actually important need the most attention) and the longer people are left in the dark, the more speculation.. founded or unfounded... will be more detrimental than clarity.
