Dropped CW to see if it was better, ran right into a dedicated 12 man.

Whee hard mode lol

I see why noone plays this mode now

well I was curious as literally their plans for CW were why I bought into the game in the first place so I guess Ill just hold out hope that some day it becomes less ******

Don't get your hopes up. Wander over the CW forums to listen to people defend this trainwreck of a game mode, as they spew venom everywhere about how the "real problem" is that not enough people are willing to devote their lives to "gettin gud" at a flipping video game, and that's the "real reason" why CW is a failure.

Nevermind the mediocre maps, repetitive game play, horrible lack of role warfare, lack of a point to actually capturing planets, and laughably unbalanced matchmaker that considers it accept to throw PUG's and casuals against 12-man teams. No, no - clearly if everyone would just quit their lives and "get gud" at MWO, it would be a great game mode... or so we're to believe.

We warned PGI what would happen if CW remained a clunky, unbalanced mode solely for teams and try-hards, and exactly what was predicted has come to pass.

I've been out of the loop on this game for a while now. But hey, looks like CW is still a mess because they haven't made it casual-friendly yet by making the max team size four.

There is no MM to really speak of.

It's literally "first come, first served".

That isn't the actual problem though,

We could have had a new mode for solo and group queue to go along with conquest and assault but instead we have seperate queues and long ones.

The problem isn't 12 mans pug-stomping their way across the IS. It's that CW simply isn't fun (it's a total camp-fest with static objectives when it could have been so much more), C-bill rewards don't justify the greater time commitment, and the 20 min queue times do it no favors either. Did I mention taking/holding territory is completely meaningless?

CW should be completely reworked because if it hits steam in anything like its current form, PGI is gonna have a real bad time.

Been looking at the steam store, there are indy games that have more game modes...

Very soon you will have 4 man drops in 'cout mode' in CW and other things to help engage more people.

Russ said on Twitter that no major additions to CW were planned until Later on in the year months ago. Until then PGI is reworking old maps, balance pass on the way, new mechs released and on the way, new features added in UI along with bug fixes and optimization and the new spectator tool. People in these toxic forums just need to chill out!

To me it seems like they're trying to fix other aspects of the game before they make their Steam move. Like reworking River City and Forest Colony. Working on the game. Making another hit registration pass. Working on the UI. And doing that huge mech rebalance they promised. And a new spectator mode. Which is great if you're a tournament caster or maker of videos.

Before this they were pumping out CW maps. Trying to address some of the issues and add features. Now it's been at a dead stop.

When more people were playing. I enjoyed CW enough. It definitely lacks an overlay of immersion. And lacks incentives unique to CW that are actually interesting. And especially lacks interesting game modes. But it's still a fun experience with a nice group.

Well I think the main problem was that PGI thought people would be OK with CW being hard core mode and getting chopped up in the meat grinder. Thats why theres like a hundred and fifty players atm.

I also kind of think they threw CW out there, half finished just to shut ppl up about their BS of 90 days after... When they were straight up lying to us when they said that as they hadnt even been working on it yet at that point, and I think they figured out it was something they couldnt do well so they plopped it out half formed SO that it would fail. Like they did with the 12 man queue.

They threw that out there and instead of supporting it they abandoned it so they could go "look, noone even wanted that" and then kill it.

Pro's
Respawns (though some might call this a con)
New maps (though some might call them poorly balanced)
Dropship animation
Free Mechbays

Cons
Long queues (few players outside events)
Premades feast on solos and small groups
30 minute play time
2 or 3 laned channeling like a MOBA

Very little is with PGI and yet I continue to have a shred of hope that CW will become not ****. The promise of what CW would be is literally the only reason I ever put a single dime into this game

I've heard rumor of 4 vs. 4 for CW... (not understanding why ONLY CW though... because I think 12 vs. 12 only compounds meta/alpha strike/ECM/balance issues in the first place but who am I i'm not being paid to half-ass balance)

Having CW be "12 man only" was one of the big things we pointed at as a failure in 1.0.

It didn't change. Cue CW's ever-shrinking audience and stagnation.

CW was a waste of resources from the start. This game had suffered from get good scrub syndrome since day one. The game has no issues bringing people in. It does however have an issue of keeping them.

Right now your options as a new player are.

1. Get good at pvp if you stick around long enough to build a copy paste meta build, all thre chassis to master it, and gain the cbills needed for those oh so cheap modules, while getting stomped game after game by beta players.

2. Quit

There is no new player friendly environment in this game, it's "GET GOOD NEWB!" day one install. There is no outlet to play and practice, no place to just get a feel for the game without the communities negative feedback of how bad you are.

So what does the game lack and need?

PVE

If this game launches on steam without a solid PVE experience it will be the end of MWO. I'm not a doomsayer but you won't recover from that kind of bad press. Look at batman, it was so bad steam pulled it from the store.

MWO really needs steam and new people for CW to succeed and be a focus again. That's just the bottom line.
