I think you'll find that a lot of the T1 level players want to keep it private or completely invisible. Actually good players don't need the additional validation, but you'll see a lot of T2/T3 players complaining about scrubby pugs. We get enough people crying about bad pugs and labeling people as T5 scrubs is bad for the community.

We don't need more e-peen waving on the forums or in chat, trust me mine is bigger than all of yours. :)

Wanna put it on the table and see whos biger...

I hope this is only visible in the forums. I REALLY hope this will never be made visible in game. I do not want my enemies to know if I am a higher tier than surrounding mechs. World of tanks has plainly visible ratings in game and in their forums and it leads to stat-based pissing contets and getting stat-sniped in game. Incredibly annoying. No matter how valid your point is, simply because you aren't super l33t pr0 stats your argument is invalid. Very toxic environment there because of that. Moreso than here, even on its worse day after a nerf patch when everyone's favorite mech gets Paul'ed.

(sorry Paul, but you have a reputation. LOL)

Here's my first post in nearly a year. But 2 if you want to get crazy.

I am so sick of the internet hiding. And this polls results only further fuels my hate.

Too many big mouths with no way to back it up and you people are voting to make it optional.

At least we haven't hit WoT levels of stupidity but it's coming.

People want to stay private from the internet, thats fine but when it comes to games I think it should be open for all to see. A gamer's profile is not a personal overview of your life in depth, not at all.

Stop giving us the choice. We are gamers and no one should hide that, stats or not. You suck, that's life, you talk smack and not good general smack talking but the childish BS, deal with the repercussions etc and so on. I have screenshots of people being fools but I can't post them because of some shaming rule that games have, that's sad, but unlike those punks I don't go reporting them unless it's above and beyond the normal smack talk.

I want my KD and WL to show but yet no one can see it. Same goes for my purchases. I want to show it all because I paid for it or played for it. What's next? No names? Just to protect those few who are overly paranoid? GTFO of here with that mentality.

SHOW IT OR STOP PLAYING.

Also, off topic, group drops are a joke, PUGs play better than clans. Sad. Remove the 2 man drop grouping. I want to play with a friend and I shouldn't be forced into 4-6 man groups who don't speak or actually know what they're doing, clan or not.

I won't be replying as I got games to play. Check my profile for e-peen status.

Full disclosure:
While showing player's tier doesn't affect the player at all, it helps the rest of the player's team determine what kind of performance can be expected from said player and what kind of tasks can be assigned to them.

i.e. when running with a low tier player, ask them to hang back in the group and poke at the enemy instead of having them lead the charge, stuff like that.

+1 full disclosure.

Most sports are full disclosure with rankings from youth to professional.

Youth wrestlers, T-ballers, basketball, /ETC can handle their records/team records.

Worrying about epeen is a non issue, it will happen regardless. Now people will have to back talk with action.

As far as lower tiers getting 'voiced-out' MWO seems pretty, eh, 'mouldable' to both general public opinion and the opinion of leets.

We made it this far, i dont see how disclosing rankings will ruin anything. To me aside from self betterment as a pilot, i think public disclosure would be an interesting metric to factor into MWO.

  • Will Tiers be displayed in the game lobby, so we can see the balance between teams?

It's actually unclear where this would be listed. I'd rather do it strictly forums.. and if you had to do it "in-game", you'd not tell who had what rank, but list the ranks that's on your team (pre-game) and on the opfor (post-game).

Quote

  • if the matchmaker fails to successfully balance those teams, is there a penalty for dropping? Will there be tiers for every weight class or every chassis, or every variant?

There have been instances of "failed to find match" that have been reported, but it may have more to do with the current population at the time.

  • I know that I am much better at Mediums than Assaults, the differences is even greater when comparing my performance between Wolverines and Atlases, there is even considerable differnce between my WVR-6K and WVR-7R capabilities. How will these variances be incorporated into my PSR.

PSR is a one-lump value. It factors in BOTH solo and group (a total mistake IMO) and all of the weight classes (the Lolcust is treated like a Direwolf as far as the game is concerned).

Quote

  • Will PSRs be viewable on the forums, or only in-game, and if so will they only be viewable in the players profile, or on their forum badge. And if they are displayed on their forum badge, which PSR will be displayed, the highest, or the average?

It's unclear... it would be good to know either way.

Something to think about for those that voted opt-in: If it's opt-in, nobody will display it unless it's tier 1 or 2...in which case players will realize that you're probably mid-low tier.

So, you not really "hiding" your tier level anyway. B)

I think that is a false assumption. I know I wont be any higher the 4 and I will display it proudly. I think only those who wont will be those who are bragging and want to hide how bad they are. And that will be known.

Sorry I only read the first page of comments. Was it stated where this would be displayed? I see several people posting as if this info would be on the end of match info screen or something. I assumed it would be in your profile but you know what happens when you assume.

Will there be different ranks for different weight classes or different chassis, or is it just one overall rating?

I know my rating is probably quite different when looked at based on chassis.

As far as all the comments about who will want see this info an who won't want this info seen and is it good for the community or not; there are no right answers. Some people will want this, some will want the choice and some will believe we are better off without it.

I believe the majority will want a choice and when you add the choice and post it for everybody people you will have an overwhelming majority.

OPT-IN always. some epeens would get butthurt over not lording over everyone who doesn't have as good of a score to show, but at least new players wouldn't get thrown around by T1 overlord with nothing better to do but measure everyone else's peen.

You are opening a can of worms if there is Full Disclosure. Units will then put requirements on recruitment, for example you have to be Tier 1 or 2 plus have 10,000 matches. You will then see units full of high level players only and then in turn they decimate other units with ease. Teamwork last as long as it can until actual skill starts to reinforce it, then it's smashing the opposition time.

And how is that different to the current system every T1 unit uses?

I think you bring up a good question on where Tier level is displayed. I was assuming it would be on our bio page on the MWOMerc website. But that could be totally wrong.

Clarification Paul?
