really? because the mech's appearance is pretty much covered up by the UI. People have been complaining about not being able to see their mechs in the mech lab.
Again... I hardly look at my mechs and certainly dont spend hours staring at my mechs telling them how pretty they are. I dont care what they look like. Aesthetics dont matter at all to me. Only functionality does. Paying MC for aesthetics has always seemed ridiculous to me.
If theyre going to add swappable heads and things like that then they should cost cbills only and be more than just aesthetic and actually have different stats. Like maybe one head gives you an extra module slot. Another head might give you extra sensor range. Etc... Kindve like omnipods except the hardpoints wouldnt change only the stat bonuses.
Home screen.
Paint screen.
Mech select image.
3rd person drone (occasionally just to see it personally).
On death screen (oh no. Look at my beautiful mech! It's all ruined now!).
The knowledge that, when other people see my mech (me) in a match, that (even if I die) I look amazing (as far as I'm concerned).
There are plenty of times you can see your own mech. Often times, it's also a remembrance to other times, such as TT figurines and even imagination. I want my mechs to look cool. I want to like my mech. Then, I want to personalize my mechs so when people see it, and they get to know me, they know that's my mech just by seeing it.
I like the aesthetics of mechs. I tend to pilot mechs that I like the looks of more than mechs I feel are ugly. I'd never own an Atlas (if I wasn't given two of them) because I think they are ugly mechs. But I love my King Crab and Stalker, because I like how they look.
Also, people spend real money on camo colors and patterns. You don't think people would spend money (though I agree some options should be C-bill as well) to personalize their mechs even farther? These cosmetic items are ways to personalize your ride, in an attempt to make yourself stand out from the rest of the players around you. They need to do nothing more than to just look cool (in my opinion of course).
As I stated above (a while back), if they give me the option to have my Crab's claw hands match, I would make them match. I also wouldn't mind seeing one form into a more human hand, to match the images of some of the
original art work for the mech. I'd even be willing to spend a little (not a lot) of MCs to make it so.
