I doubt that 5(6?)xAC/2 is a stock build.
I didn't say that it was. What I said is that the stock builds, the ones that were released, are lacking on armor. I was merely hypothesizing that the squishy CT might be the result of low armor and, given that the mech hasn't even been out a day, pilots haven't universally readjusted their armor placement. I don't know about hitboxes and how good/bad they are on the Mauler.

Mine are fully armored up CT: 104F/12R (or 10 :/). If I died last night, it was a CT death. Maybe this will change a tiny bit as they skill up (earn 2x basics) due to better torso twisting, but I have a feeling they are a bit CT hitbox big.
I'm not sure if it is worse than a Direwolf (players often complain of their CTs being big), but it is noticeably soft in the CT region.
Still, a majority of Maulers will probably be XL, so targeting side torsos may still be the way to go. (Unless you know it is mounting something that won't fit with an XL).
That's interesting. Perhaps then the CT is pretty large, hit box-wise. I'm not sure that the stock builds are that awesome given that the armor placement is what, in the 300s for one of them? I think it's probably mandatory to remove the FF and put in ES, though three of the four do have DHS at least.
