I somewhat feel like I'm being cheated of IS bonus mechs as I purchased Resistanse 1 in late November yet only January and later months count... Wouldn't really complain about it if bonus clan mechs had something noticablel aside cbill bonus and skin though.
Cicada has jumpjets (althorugh I will be getting it), Wolverine has MASC, Zeus has a fair amount of various harpoints... Nova has an arm ballistic slot in LA (that will be obviously low) and a missle slot in RIGHT arm - when the only other available missle slot is in LEFT torso, seriously? EXE has a left arm with one missle slot... when D variant already has two. Same goes for LT energy slot. The only thing that looks somewhat useful is RA ballistic slot, for 2uac10 builds, probably?
I can live with that as these are just bonuses, but damnit, this isn't even remotely fair, PGI...

I asked the same question a bit ago. Hopefully we get a reply today.

I am a Resistance Package pre-order customer. My Resistance mechs were purchased in November 2014.

I did not qualify for the cut-off date on the Year 1 Appreciation ( originally Sept. 2014 and later extended to October 2014 I believe). Nor do I qualify for the Year 2 Appreciation Rewards which only start on pre-orders as of Jan. 1st, 2015.

Is what PGI intended with the set dates?

Excellent all around! I like that it isn't a "top tier of all packages" so everyone can be included in some way. All of the mechs, with the exception of the nova, look pretty good! Thanks all around to PGI!

I was reading the Customer Rewards thing and way down at the bottom of the page it says that each purchase can only qualify for 1 reward mech.
Since I did both the Resistance 2 Mauler pack and the Origins IIC Highlander pack since January, I can qualify for 3 mechs... the Cicada (for matches played) the Zeus (Resistance top tier) and executioner (Origins top tier)

Can anyone confirm this or not?

I think I qualify for all. Thanks PGI.

But the clan rewards... are... well... not so good (read trash)!
NVA-D? EXE-C?

Why not the 40 ton Viper or WHK-F or DWF-C?

Because the viper is worse then any nova out there or ice ferret or kitfox or what ever strength of the viper that facinates you. On top of that it is a completely new mech and not a variant
Warhawk F is 3054, 3 years to far, and using PGI's +1 rule, still to far.
Direwolf C is 3054, 3 years to far, and using PGI's +2 rule, still to far

Nova: giving the thing a missile in the arm, making it a reasonable agile and mobile arm mount for nice SRM 6 packing'. that and now you got a clan trebuchet- you can do 2 LRM 15's and 6 er smalls for eg. or other weird combos.
When you look at the wolverine, which is worse to all other wolverines besides the fact it has masc which we learned from shadowcat is only worthh it if you are not a medium mech.

Executioner: ignoring all hardpoints aside besides 1... the arm is amazing, it's on the other arm. that means we can have ballistics and missiles on the same executioner with ease, you can run duel UAC 20 which I have to remind is on a 95 ton asault mech that accelerates like a light, turns like a medium, and hits harder then a warhawk.

Viper is very much a viable addition. A clan 40 ton "medium" mech that can run at 143 kph, has 8 JJs and 8E hardpoints max with 8.5 pod space. That is the textbook example of hit and run. Closest comparison is the Ice ferret that lacks the hardpoints and JJs.
People are already calling the arctic cheetah god tier... wonder why?... 143 kph, 8-7E hardpoints, JJs.... see the pattern?

You compared kitfox with the viper???... sry but i can not take that serious to even start explaining.
Nova and the viper?... well... speed!... and by speed i mean about 50kph more on the viper... otherwise you could compare the direwolf with the gargoyle in terms of firepower.

Regarding the executioner-c ... well i'd love to see what it can do with 2 tons of ammo for those UAC20s!

Also... we're already past 3052 in the mech packs and variants.!

On the contrary, I think the Viper will be a great mech in this game, so long as PGI scales it properly.
  • it's 40 tons, so it should be smaller than the Shadow Cat
  • it runs 142.6 kph, same as the Fenris and Hankyu
  • it only has 8.5 tons podspace, but...
  • it can boat 9 energy (more than the Hankyu)
  • it can jump higher than a Shadow Cat
  • it has somewhat decent build diversity, considering.
I surmise these would be your options:

- 9x ER Small Laser + 4x DHS.
- 5x SPL and 4x MG (1.5t ammo) + 1x DHS
- 5x SPL and 2x SRM4 (1.5t ammo)
- 5x ER Small laser + 2x Streak4 (2t ammo)
- 1x ER PPC + 3x DHS

It can be a glorified light mech with boating options that the Fenris, Hankyu, and Cicada don't have, it can be a very effective light hunter, and it can even be a poptart if it wants to (probably with PPC quirks on the -B or MPL quirks on the -Prime). Basically, it should be better than both the Fenris and the Shadow Cat in every way except maximum armour (and no ECM). It should blow the Kitfox and Adder out of the water. Especially if Russ follows through on the matchmaking idea (going with tonnage per group size instead of 3/3/3/3), because then instead of being a mediocre medium mech, it would simply be a +5 ton investment up from any 35-ton light.

I want it. I'd probably play it a lot with 9x ERSL.

Why I compared viper to the kitfox? because it's meant to be a bigger version of it to a degree. it was inspired by it.
Much like the ACH to the MLX, or the Hellbringer to the warhammer.
Why I compare to the nova? same visuals, simular hardpoints, and 50%+ of the mech IS the nova. (ie legs, arms, etc). and profile.

Now going with your only valid advantage being speed- what about the shadowcat then? not as fast, but same JJ potential and better hardpoint locations and such...

Follow up question- why not simply go for another mech instead? for instance the

Griffon IIC?
Horned Owl?
Hoplite?
Incubus?
Mongrel?
Phantom? (which I should add now, 40 tonne mech going 151 kph with no speed tweak stock with simular hardpoints minus B)
Shadohawk IIC?

A few mechs of the light and medium weight class that are mostly battlemechs that fit a simular shoe or better that or more unique for the role such as the Phantom.

What makes the Viper better then taking those? the viper on paper is a less firepower faster higher JJ nova, but the Phantom, mongrel, SHadowhawk and griffon IIC's
etc... have much more features and stuff with simular traits but more unique flare.

Nice idea and interesting variants, thanks =)
Will there be an option to get unwanted reward mechs removed or to sell them? While the Nova and Exe add two interessting pods I wouldn't want to have two mechs I'll never use clutter my mechlab.

location of omnipod hardpoints please? I calculated 6 max E hardpoints from gestimation of art work, I do not have any solid sources for what is where on a mech. just loosely what it has.

Even though this pleases me.

The problem with hving more then 6E hardpoints is ghost heat for all clan small and med lasers are linked. this is why you do not see many 7E ACH's running around.

I have to repeat myself that I do not hate the viper and I would probably buy it with real money. But my main point is what makes it "that much special" to bring it into the game without the necesary quirks for clans to make this worth it and unique? On top of that some variants there and combinations match the very same Nova we just got- which begs the question is it just a 'reskin' of a mech with minor changes the only thing that would please em.

I am up for the viper however, I am a sucker for pokemechs and the viper is some of the few remaining mechs I may want (KODIAK!!!!j$hbshb error 404 kodiak not found)

I am just pulling a counter arguement for the situation.

Thanks for the visualisations btw!

Does buying a mech with MCs in game qualify as A LA CARTE? or needs to be only in the forum store?

Just a little nitpicking, why is it not MC bought since the last anniversary, going by the fact that this is an anniversary celebration?
(Got my last MC in Dezember -.-)
