Right cause all the MWO art is super close to the original stuff. New Maddy is a very good representation

I like that too!

Just need the body to be a little less wide and I think I would nearly be ok with the new design, though I would like to see your take on the cockpit size and torsos.

I am putting my money in for the worthy cause of sticking it to IP trolls. The mech itself is just the desert.

How about this comparison?

Thanks to Tennex for his superior photoshop skills on the arms.

I can't believe what a huge difference not having the glass cockpit there makes in making it look more like a MAD to me.

Personally I'd be very happy with the above changes and would buy it without hesitation. If the current design goes in I'd still be having second thoughts about getting it.

Don't get too zealous about where you think the arms should go. I've made a 3D model of my own idea for a Marauder re-design, and the arms can be a problem because they can hit the legs as you torso twist.

There is probably a reason the arms are mounted the way they are.

Also, the mech needs the glass canopy. You need to see after all, and going with just a little mailbox sized slit to look out would be terrible.

The other thing is mounting the gun on the right torso, which is a correction the mech has needed for a long time. That is a change I am fine with. It is similar to changing the Thunderbolt to have the head on the left and the missiles on the right side to match the stats better.

I dont think the pauldrons effect where the arms go. pauldrons are just draped over the arm's original mounting point. wouldn't make a difference to remove them

Really, though, the mecha pictured (the basis for the Wolverine) is the T10C Blockhead from Fang of the Sun Dougram. -_-

I played Battletech as a teen, I am pleased the IS players are receiving this Mech. Hope PGI does not forget the Clan players as I would like to have a Marauder II-C.

If prefer a cockpit with good vision a la the Griffin over a coffin-box like the Shadowhawk.

Also, does anyone else think this will be extremely non-XL-friendly? Those STs are gonna blow up asap.

I somewhat worry about the big vent/duct things at the back - if that gets blown-out, the corresponding arm goes with it, and most MADs don't have weapon mounts in the CT or the head...

Yep. Removing that big-arse glass cockpit and straightening the arm pods out really makes a huge difference. All of a sudden it looks like a Marauder and not just something trying to be a Marauder.

This is to Tina and PGI at large,

If you can do anything like B or C, please do. B has such small useful changes, hitbox included. C might be going a little too far but I hope you would at least consider it.

A: No changes at all
B: Changed shoulder and gun arms (Tennex) and reduced side torso (me)
C: The above changes with a more concealed cockpit (this really makes it look like a Marauder and yet it still has plenty of differences from the original Glaug artwork)

PGI hear us!! let us know if these are even possible!

Maybe the concealed cockpit in your C version is a bit too extreme, but I do agree that some concealment would help a lot to make it look more like the original.

Maybe a compromise like this:

Maybe it cant look more like the original.

I do like the PGI Marauder look, but like the Fan altered, larger gun barrel version even more.

I would actually prefer the larger cockpit over the tiny veiw port. Compromising functionality for asthtetics based on the old school Macross desgn seems unnecissary in 2015.

The proposed design PGI has shown us is easy to identify as a Marauder and has plenty of uniqueness to defend as original art work.

I think it lacks some volume, I understand that original design was skinny but let's be honest it looked silly. It's a 75 ton battlemech, it is supposed to look menacing. Also it lacks curvature, this applies to all recently released mechs which were basically modeled by extruding parts here and there but that's not the concept artist's fault. Also the shoulder gun WILL be smaller which is disappointing.

Anyways, PGI could've contacted a guy from deviantart and he probably wouldn't mind if they used his cool design in MWO.

this is nice, but i like PGI version too and they would have to pay this man when they have people who could model the mech themselves as they did.

I like it

I think Alex went with shimmering sword's cockpit design for legal reasons. But what you did was a good compromise
