Greetings all you new and shiny pilots who have not had the experience of PGI fixing something. It normally goes like this ...

1) PGI throws something out on the Test Server
2) Playerbase plays it and gives feed back
3) PGI does something ... normally having nothing to do with the feed back from the Test Server
4) Implementation causes out cry on the Forums
5) 2 or 3 years later PGI comes back and says their implementation could use a new tweek

So, feel free to comment here. I dont think PGI reads their Forums preferring Tweets, Face Book and every other social media.

So what I'm getting out of this is...

- PGI still detests 25-tonners, but especially TDKs. Clearly they had to do something about the MLX/COM dominating the light queue! 25t OP, nerf plz!

- Adders were OP too and desperately in need of a good nerfbatting.

- The ENF-5P is apparently so OP that it deserves to become the only 'Mech in the game that can't torso twist. Yep, time to strip that one and park it again.

- The HBK-GI and 4P will handle like assaults, because reasons. Gonna strip those too.

- Vindicators?! You mean people are still using those? Nerf time! Might keep driving them just out of spite.

- Urbie needs negative quirks because it was just too awesome. If they didn't act fast, it might have reached critical mass and caused an awesplosion, obliterating the ACH and FS9 to make way for the One True Trashcan to become meta and take over the universe.

I'm of the opinion that there should be NO delay to target aquistion. Locally, at least. Instead, have a delay before that dorito is shared to the rest of the team.

Time to aquisition,
time to share,
time to lock.

Remove the magicjesusbox and make the time for all 3 above increased by 50% if the target is under ecm cover.
Now put bap, tag and narc and artemis in that to counter it and you have a real e-wars with the new sensorquirks.

But if ecm stays as magicjesusbox, the whole sensorthing is obsolent.
It doesnt matter if the magicjesusbox is 90m or 1000m, its still a magicjesusbox that counters all sensors at all ranges.

Exactly.

As I've said before, if you had a broken leg and went to a doctor, and he recommended a brain scan MRI and removal of your wisdom teeth to treat your broken leg, would you consider him competent? Even if he then changed his recommendations to just the brain scan, would that mean he's suddenly a skilled doctor?

This is basically what PGI has done here - propose an utterly insane and random pile of "solutions" to problems that they clearly do not understand and others that don't even exist. There is no need to waste hours downloading the test environment just to see the madness yourself or sit around assuming, "Well, I'm sure the final product will be completely different and better based on no data whatsoever."

No, this insane drek they considered ready for public testing and viewing. They clearly do NOT understand their own game even remotely, and that bodes very ill for the future of MWO.

They have been working on this for far too long for the numbers to just be "arbitrary". That's ridiculous.


If all they wanted to test was a "new set of quirks" for sensors and throw it out half-baked at the community, they could have implemented that in less than a week.


Russ & Sean have repeatedly sold this as a massive balance overhaul. This is not just to test "InfoTech".


That's not what we have, we have the entire removal of all weapon quirks.

We have a bizarre application of quirks across the board with no rhyme or reason.

It's so bad, it looks like multiple people did this and never showed each other their work.


We have mechs that clearly need help getting nerfed, it's unbelievable.



This was so poorly planned and executed, and so badly received that they already shut the PTS down yesterday.

I've been playing around a bit with some of the stats put out on the first day of this thread. Even the overall nerfs to most Clan mechs can be overcome, or at least mitigated, with omnipods. The same does not hold true for IS.

Things are overall going to be worse for IS than when Wave 1 was released if this goes live.

It can't go live. It just can't.


I mean, let's look at Battlemasters.

Just how the **** did they go from being mechs that needed across the board BUFFs to mechs that suddenly need negative accel/deaccel or -torso turn rate?


Really? Mechs that were T3 or 4 at best, with their giant easy to hit hitboxes now need agility nerfs?


A mech that we only barely saw on the field even with positive firepower quirks?


It's just ridiculous.

Lol i remember the first NGE in Star Wars Galaxies 10 years ago.
Nothing could be as epically bad as that,am I right?
PGI google NGE and learn from it.

Please go watch Sean's video about this test. Then come back before laughing too much at the quirks. They are trying to normalize the chassis by role and weight first. They will then add quirks to balance the over performers and under performers in their weight and role. Then I expect that well see IS vs clan balance changes.

The most we are really learning from the pts are there ideas for how roles well perform. The real complaints should be from people that don't want mechs to feel the same, because that is what the mean when they say they are getting rid of the meta.

This garbage is why I don't spend any more money on MWO and the $14.95 I did spent was $14.95 too much.
All Quirks are nonsense randomly throw it at a wall.

Not actual numbers but go look, you will find dumb stuff. Like -300% intellect.

Chassis 1 Mech A -10% torso twist
Chassis 1 Mech B - no torso quirk.
Chassis 1 Mech C - +10% Torso Twist

So some guy climbed into the gears and welded a stop in there and then went to the other one and magically added teeth to the gears on the other mech?

They cant build stuff in the future cuz you now "lostech" but have the tech to make 3 different gears for the torso twist in 1 model? In the future people are stupid, you would only use what provides you with the best results and turn the rest into scrap to be melted down and turned into the better version.



They will NEVER get rid of meta no matter what they think. Steam users are going to laugh, I know I am.

Sean's video sounds like a lot of backpedaling to me.

Take a look at Awesomes, Battlemasters, Black Jacks, Hunchbacks etc.

Those mechs are not being "normalized" by their role and weight, they are being bizarrely nerfed.

Mechs that needed desperate help, mechs that even with quirks are still not that great.


Nerfing them isn't "normalizing the chassis". To be frank, if that was their goal they have failed spectacularly and it looks like they literally have no idea what they are doing.

The funniest part of this entire thing is that as long as we can use our eyeballs to locate targets and fire at them, "Infotech" is utterly meaningless except for LRMs and possibly Streaks.

It's not like we're having 8 Km standoff dogfights like modern fighter jets, we're fighting at less than a Kilometer, typically.
