Except this isn't a PGI game.... its a completely different company.

Same art. Some level of ****** that needs to be clarified.

I so want to be able to command conventional vehicles and infantry so badly now. I hope that is a stretch goal.

Or you need to take 2 minutes to read through the thread and see that PGI is sharing artwork with them. That's it. Visual look.

I need more info before I will drop any cash like when they are planning to go closed Beta. Not buying anymore from PGI for several reasons so If it seems like it won't drag out I may just do it. This twitch/high TTK nightmare PGI has created has lost me most likely for good.

All that info will more than likely be in the Kickstarter, but here is a brief summary of what we know for now:
  • Turned-based strategy (like their Shadowrun games, but with a new game engine)
  • Lance-sized mercenary company where you control both the Mechwarriors and the 'Mechs.
  • Set in or about 3025
  • Heavy on the BT lore (it is Weissman, after all...)
  • Likely to be heavy on the role-playing aspects as well, if one goes by their Shadowrun games
  • Kickstarter not for the game itself, but for extra features (just like their Shadowrun games)
  • Stretch goals rumoured to include PvP and co-op play (most likely on Solaris VII)
  • Release in 2017
Edit: And yes, it is Harebrained Schemes that makes it, the only connection to PGI is that they're borrowing/licensing/buying the art (which, in my opinion, is the best part of MWO anyway...)

I wanna know about Salvage.

Would that be an appropriate question for his AMA?

Hopefully that is the BattleTech game I've been waiting for. The MWO 3D modelers and artist are the only ones with any scrap of talent here and it looks like the new game will take advantage of that.

Reading and research are not big traits among most forum goers here.

Yes. Very relevant. Ask, and let us know the answer ;)

My bet is that salvage will play a major role though - this is BattleTech, after all.

Ouch, first I heard the 2017 date, though it's not a surprise. I may have missed that in the interview though, read it rather quickly.

It's "early 2017" if that's any consolation.

A short time honestly, we're less than 4 months away from the end of 2015 already.

The thing that made a tear slip from my eye in that link was this:

Quote

Anonymous asked Jordan Weisman

When is a new mechwarrior coming?!

Well my company Harebrained Schemes will launch a Kickstarter to help co-fund a turn based BattleTech game at the end of the month. That game will release in early 2017 - but if you want a first person realtime 'Mech experience that is available now check out MechWarrior Online.

Probably reading into it way much but I read that as at least no consideration for a single player Mechwarrior until after 2017. Which is okay really, but realistically that means no new Mechwarrior game until I'm in my 30's and I'm 25 now.

Probably Beta access with a certain pre-order price.

Personally, I've got MegaMek and dowloading MW2:Mercs right now.
I want to test Flamers and headshots...get all that juicy salvage.

Note that they dont have Dynamic salvage in the dos version. You'd have to patch the Windows version.

Im hyped for this!

Those who mentioned about not being burned yet by Kickstarter, It's definitely possible. Though I doubt this one will be an issue in releasing since it seems the company has a good record so far from just a little search up. If anyone's curious of two examples of fail Kickstarters: StompingLands with KS doing nothing even with proof of it being abandoned and CastleStory where it just stays in early alpha for couple of years and ongoing with half year+ spaced bug fix patches (forever in development in short, avoids KS refund policy though it doesn't matter because SL proved they do nothing).

The Titanium version should have Salvage.
