Are the only maps that count the ones listed? I noticed not all maps are on the list, for example Alpine Valley isn't on there?

Important Information:
  • The maps listed in the Standard queue table will be the only Standard queue maps in rotation for the duration of this event.

You are not even getting any other maps.

I'm sure they'll fix it...especially if they want people to keep playing this thing...

Meantime, I'm a little sick of being stuck playing the maps I've already gotten my qualification for...but I guess it can't be helped.

So far I haven't been able to replicate this. We're continuing to look at what else might be causing these strikes.

Suggestion:

Given that a large number of people appear to be having this error, do a check on commonalities across *all* disconnects since the start of the event.

If this is a widespread defect - as it appears to be - the commonalities in mechs, servers ect should jump out of the data

Got my first disconnect. Game froze, had to restart. Logged back in and re-joined match. Mech was still alive. Got a couple hundred points of damage before the match ended. Still counted as a disconnect.

I have heard of dozens of people say they get these extra disconnect penalties, but I have not in fact heard anyone say they don't get those.

STRANGELY, I actually have yet to GET a DC Penalty, when I know I DC'd when my mech was still alive, when I saw everyone moon walking for like 10 seconds.

That or that 10 seconds of moonwalking meant I was dead already.

300 score is pretty difficult to achieve in a light mech.

Just sayin, I think we're going to see too many heavy and assault mechs in the queue because of this tournament.

My first match I had to reconnect. Alt+tabbing while waiting for match maker sometimes causes issues, and had to restart the client. Managed to rejoin and bang out a ~500 match score in my Raven though, and disco counter is still at 0. Hooray :D

Had a great run of matches in the Raven 4X, to the point where 2 kills and 400 damage while surviving seemed like a bad result. Took its KDR from 1.5 to 2.2 in maybe an hour and a half :D Still, will need to do much better than that to crack the top 10 leaderboard now. Ended the night on a 1130 damage match in my T-bolt. I may not answer my phone this weekend, if I want to improve my leaderboard rank :D

Another RNG-based event, ggclose PGI
As every game is a 12-0 stomp one way or another, no-one on either side can reach 400 score. A 12-0 means everyone did their job, which leaves them hanging with 300-400 damage a piece, which translates to around 200 score.

This is hilarious, please check out this picture:

Nothing against the players here, they are just playing the system, but xxxxxxx for example, just quickly did what damage he could at start and then headed to play ultrasafe, not contributing much to the ongoing fight.. Same for xxxxxxxx on enemy team.

Match score winner with xxxx score might have been a guy who pretty much played first 5 minutes of the match. Kudos to him, but screw this system.

How can this even remotely be intentional and working as intended as PGI claims?

Honestly, it's tricky to achieve it normally regardless of the mech from what I've seen.

I've been in recent pug matches where MAYBE 1 guy gets 400, 3 get 300, the rest don't even make the cut; in matches we have won, on Skirmish mode. :/ Sometimes only one person will get 300, on Skirmish mode, and the rest won't make it. Don't ask me how, but that's what the score screen says...

This is just not true, here is my progress after 5 hours of this event:

This event has very good prices on normal queue, infact its the first one that is actually a little of a Challenge, you know what that word actually means. Where you need to do good and play aggressive mechwarrior and contribute to success of the team. I have used light mechs, mediums, heavies and assaults to do these scores and infact light is one of the best in current system to get good scores, if you are aggressive and can pull it off with consistency.

You need to analyse your game and figure out what you are doing wrong, if you can not push the damage and score envelope. Aggressive gameplay, pushing, taking angles, kicking the door down at correct times is pretty much required to do well in MWO. Many people play passive and end up contributing very little to the match, even if they do "200 dmg" at the end and are alive.

I had to redo couple maps twice, which costed atleast two hours to get to this point. That is in bad luck of not getting correct maps, but its not that bad, it is very bad if you need to go 3 or 4 or 5 times on a map to achieve 400+ score, but this is a Challenge right? Consistency of good gameplay is the key. Playing well "under pressure" when finally get a missing map is a huge deal as well. I like it. Many days to complete as well.

ps. And I'm mediocre at best compared to the really good ones. Several of my unit mates have completed the thing in under 4 hours. Trick is, that they achieve the score very consistently on first try.

Wow. Some enticing prizes for a change. Thanks PGI!

Good Job PGI! And you know you did a hellagood job if people like MB are on your side. Being here long enough, I know who traditionally hates the developer haha

Whoever did this prize pack needs a damn beer. WAYYYY BETTER. You could even go overboard and give the other 7 in top 10 1 Marauder variant or something.

Yet another reasonable, evidence-based argument completely lacking in exaggeration.

Played a handful of matches so far (most maps only came up in the rotation once), most of these drops in a Raven, and I've been getting 300+ in almost everything. That 185 game on Caustic some silly people insisted on a base rush to end the match prematurely, just as the brawl was starting in earnest.

I've had a few match scores from 600-800 during most gaming sessions lately, I don't see it being too hard to get the Tier 2 award. Cracking the top 10 though will be tough, since I don't play nearly as many games as some folks and I don't actively try to game the system at all.

Zero disconnects. Because I don't DC after dying, ever, and haven't gotten any random DCs or interweb burps.

I think you only get them on the counter if you DC, whether before or after you die, you DC, you get a DC counter.

I know they weren't supposed to penalize you for leaving after death, but really...it's not illogical that leaving= disco counter. Bugged or not, it's not confusing.

Bugged is bugged, especially when their rules state the the penalty is for DC before death.
