That's NOT the issue at all. It no longer turns with you so it's completely disorienting -and the symbols are so small you can't tell the difference between an Assault and a Light unless you full screen the minimap and only an idiot would do that in the middle of a fight.

It's not something that is going to change either... animals are hard wired to the perspective the old minimap showed. That's feeling of disorientation is actually normal. Can't believe they don't have a person on staff to quash ideas like this...

Also, some people freak out, some criticize in a cultural manner.

Eyes forward, shoot things!!
Option to toggle between the old and new mini map would be cool but maybe the zoom will sort it.
The need to stay grouped is in a large part forced because everyone have so good automatic SA. If you're alone, the enemy will quickly find out that you are alone and push you and kill you. When that SA is taken away, interesting gameplay can happen where a spread out team with good (non automatic) SA and some crossfire might be better than a death ball.

It's not even whining. It's a half-completed, poorly scaled map system that removes useful information from the cockpit view and fails to replace it, while presenting it's new information in a format no pilot would sanely be able to read easily while playing. Oh, and it ganks seismic module use too. Despite adding new options, it takes far more away from the operation of a 'Mech than it adds.
It's a War on Information, not Information Warfare.

And people could buy cars with stick shifts still but they'd be gimping themselves on the road versus cars with fast shifting sport autos.
Ferrari and Lamborghini don't even sell manual transmissions anymore...true story.

Well you couldn't see the difference between assault and light before either. It's more a tactical think I think to see where to go and attack or defend, not so much what you look at while in the fight.

This is a step away from FPS and towards simulation. That's nice. I wouldn't mind a slower game that felt more tactical and less twitchy. I probably would enjoy that more. But since the rest of the game didn't slow down any, I don't have time for the info it is trying to give me. If I look at the mini map for more than a second then many, many bad things can and will happen.
Oh, and TTK may go down, but stomps, particularly in PUGS, will just happen that much more frequently. Information is key in this game and this map is serving up non-elite players on a platter.
