Dishartened By Being Tier 5

look at is as a way to measure if youre improving.
Tiers really mean nothing. As can be seen by the posts today they seem to be all over the place. And I have not seen a single post telling someone that they are bad because of their tier yet.

Not really, as I don't care what my Tier is. Yeah, it would be nice to have a fancy score tag to show off. But it's more fun to drop playing what I want and how I want, especially as their is no in-game penalty for your Tier. Plus you don't get a penalty for being in Not Tier 1, what you get it (theoretically) put among people of equal-ish skill so you can have a solid game experience.
If you want to raise your Tier then I'm sure there are guides on how to max it out and charge up the listings, as where there is a rules set and maths there is a way to min-max the outcome. But if it isn't worth it for you (not a bad thing, not a good thing, just a thing) then don't bother with it and just focus on enjoying your game.

And if you do see anyone doing that then please let people know, as I'm quite sure a lot of folks of all Tier ranges would like to tell that person exactly which exhaust-port they can mail that attitude problem to.

If your self esteem depends on what tier you are in MWO then you are doing something wrong, it should not worry you in the least. My tip enjoy the game the rest will come by itself.

Thats about the same story as mine.. I like to test and tweak less common Mechs, and this made me land in tier 4... But yesterday I took out one of my fine builds for a walk and I just kept killing people...

tryhards are just MAD cuz they BAD IRL, and their mommy never hugs them, so they treat people like crap over their imaginary video game awards, because it's all they have to cling to as a "success" in life.
The exceptions are pretty self apparent by their lack of need to act as swaggering dbags on stompy game forums.
Treat them as such, and it's pretty easy to ignore their epeenions.

Yep, before anyone brags about their tier they MUST post their mech usage stat. If the majority of their time is spent in clan heavy metas then -- ignore them.

number one thing I have against posted stats.....people stop playing for fun, and worry too much about spreadsheets.
Screw the numbers...... play how it makes you actually ENJOY the game.

Honestly, I bet you have a crapload more fun than the tier 1 and 2 players who always have to drop in their meta mech timberwolves.
Tiers should have their names changed to :
"I am a Clan Meta Mech Obssessive compulsive" tier (1)
"I Clan & IS Meta Mech" competitive tier (2)
"I play fun optimized mechs" regular player tier (3)
"Lets see how this works I've never tried it before" tier(4)
"I don't care about damage I want MORE FUN! FIRE ALL THE FLAMERS!" tier(5)
And yes, you are penalized for not playing a meta-TBR. Just accept the craptastic nature of that function of PSR. I accept that I am in the Tier I am because I play, almost exclusively, light mechs (meaning 90% of my games are in lights).
----- EDIT ----
OP, realize that the Tier system is not intended to promote the meta players away from you because you are somehow worse. The the Tier system is intended to remove the "You all suck NOOB SCRUB" fun-sucking win at any cost players, the "Why did you boat LRMs you stooge!" players from your game so that you don't have to deal with that crap and can just have a great game. The ranking goes Tier1: "Its work, not fun" Tier 5: "Tis' all fun ARRGRH!"
So much this! I am proud of my Tier 3 rating, but would LOVE a Tier 5 rating even more. The fewer tryhards I engage, the better.

If that's fun for you, go for it. It's a game, so that's kinda the point. I run around in Novas and Mad Dogs while my Timberwolves and Stormcrows collect dust, so I'm all about that. I've got a dual UAC2 Nova I get a huge kick out of playing. I'm pretty much the only one I've ever seen running that build, but I don't let that stop me.

If some members of the community get their giant e-peen stuck up their posteriors about being a higher tier than you then might I suggest, in the wise words of Monty Python, informing them that you fart in their general direction? Low Tier Pride, my friend! Low Tier Pride! It's where the fun is!

I have watched the bar react to my games and its like a EVERQUEST1 XP bar ... do good matches and it goes up SLOW, do not soooo good and it goes down a bit again... if you play enough games and overall you do more often good then not then ALL will be Tier 1 after thousands of games like all became lvl 60 back in 1999 it just takes TIME.
Like back then it was possible to speed up the process by quad kiting = LRM boating or Dire 6xUAC5ing in MWO

I can say that even a small score, like death with 200pts in a WIN gives me a PSR plus but I need around 500dmg in a loss Match to NOT LOOSE PSR.
Well any more questions and I'm happy to answer more clearly if needed...
I have started MWO again 3 weeks ago after two year break and went up the Tiers pretty quick for that. I have only 500 matches and I'm pretty close to Tier 2 now. However since I started to play more serious again, to get the torunament done, I score top or at least top 3 in 90% of my matches, so this could explain it...

Want to win and be part of the master race? Run the meta and get carried in group queue until you're max Tier 1.
Want to play casually and have fun? Do you, fill your mechlab like it's Pokemon, and grind out the CBills and GXP for all those modules.
Need badges? Go farm 100 DCs for the headshot achievement.
