Tell that to Steel Battalion.
But uh, not Steel Battalion : Heavy Armor. Though I imagine that was a tough one to get into with the controller price and a game so hardcore it makes any Mechwarrior look like Super Mario Bro's.
This is probably true. It was simple and in some ways stupid maybe but it was one of the first LIVE titles and I believe the first one where you could shoot things. It did show a bit of what the system could do. Moto GP and more so Halo 2 sort of mopped the floor with it on that one but it had a place in the systems growth. Honestly I liked the second one more as the teams were not allowed to take just anything and the VTOL dropping supplies made for a nice logistics mechanic. The maps were arcady gun-line friendly in some cases though the most damage generally went to the team with the better supply line. Overall Lonewolf ironically was fun as a team game.
As a Battletech game there were some weird things... the giant Madcat sculptures were just... I have no idea what really. Silly mostly to think that ancient statues would depict rather recent mechs. Hacking was silly, some of the weapons like the timer missiles were just...whatever. I did like the Raptor though. Never understood why they made a Blake mech and named it after an existing Omnimech but it may have been one of the best things to come out of the game.
I don't really look as Mechassault being related to Battletech anymore than I look at Super Mario as being related to Plumbing. Mario was still fun.

I really enjoyed the MechAssault series. They were deffinitly an arcade game from the outset and shouldnt be compared to any of the MechWarrior series.
It would be like comparing MS Flight Sim to Crimson Skies imho.
Thank you, and thank you.

I totally agree with BTone, and it's these type of people and their attitudes that might get this game to fail because they don't want to see any newcomers in here at all. They're almost as bad as Star Wars fans... probably are Star Wars fans. I've never played the game and I regret that I never did, but I'm sure it's a really fun game if a much more simpler version of MechWarrior, hell I'd love to get some friends and just blow **** up without having to deal with hour long mech creation and tons of micro-managing that can turn plenty people off pretty quick. I just downloaded MechWarrior 4 at another members suggestion and started playing, I haven't played a MechWarrior game in nearly 15 years, so I had no idea what I was doing, and died on the first mission a few times, and I didn't even learn how to turn my torso until the second mission. I was almost ready to quit, and I love Mechs, something like that would definitely not cater to the usual xbox player.
LOL, disregarding the star wars fan thing, (I'm not going there...) that's exactly what I'm saying. It takes TIME (like a lot) to master Mechwarrior games. I thinked I aced the Mechassault controls in the first mission or two.
