Looks like they are going for a May 2017 ship date for the game, and their previous Kickstarters stayed close to their target time table. I wouldn't be surprised if Kickstarter funders end up getting beta access by this time next year.

I think so, too. While there is certainly a lot to criticize with MWO and PGI, they *are* delivering a game that not only is fun but that also makes me feel like piloting a mech. I mean, folks, the very fact that you are here in this forum for this game means that no matter how disappointed you are, you still think that it's worth your time to play MWO - and in many cases, pay for it, be that for MC, premium time or Mechs.
Nope. I used to be regular but even with these map changes which too me has actually made the game less fun due to making them huge and just making having meta builds even more neccessary than having strong tactics, I maybe play a round once a week if that anymore. I dont feel this game has improved significantly at all. The prices still suck and always will, never will get a story, quite honestly the franchise is dead too me. It died after mw4 mercenaries was released.

Why do people still want a beta over a finished game? By the time they finally say it's finished which might never happen you will be sick of the game.

It could be possible in the Natural Selection format, where one of the players of each team is a commander, not playing inside a mech, but with top-down view (like a strategy game but with humans as the units).

As neat as it would be to have a Natural Selection/Dungeon Keeper II mechanic of going from commanding to piloting a Battlemech... Or reverse that with a BF2142 command interface, it wasn't what I was hinting at.
Having a story campaign that runs parallel in what PGI is doing and what HBS is doing would be absolutely amazing. You can still use Clan tech and other technology that is after the 3025 time period in multiplayer, but the single player campaign would be concurrent with what HBS is doing.

If HBS allows Clan Tech in Solaris, it should be era appropriate and very rare (like maybe a prize for winning a renouned tournament or something).

Of course, I'd go with the Lyrans. Go Steiner!

The beta duration for most competent developers is fairly short, especially when the entire project is intended to release in around 18 months. You are likely used to MW:O and other poorly developed free to play model games where the beta duration ends up excessively drawn out because they are using that to milk players for money while still trying to fumble through developing the game.

^ Truth
I quote this from their company page:
"We are currently developing MechWarrior Online, the 5th title in the popular Battletech franchise. MechWarrior Online is a Premium Free-2-Play title that utilizes the BattleTech Universe to deliver a BattleMech combat simulator with a heavy emphasis on tactical strategies. By placing the player in a first person view of a BattleMech pilot, MechWarrior Online provides a whole new level of immersion into the game space...
...Today MechWarrior Online is a very successful, online multiplayer title, with a large, dedicated following and is headed into future with more features and content being delivered every month."
Currently developing... BattleMech combat simulator with a heavy emphasis on tactical strategies... MechWarrior Online provides a whole new level of immersion into the game space...Today MechWarrior Online... headed into [the] future with more features and content being delivered every month.
All of those statements... Just... Yea, they make me laugh. I wonder what their Steam page is going to be like. I've decided to stop fighting against it and to stop trying to argue for a better MW title, because the fan base for MWO that tells people like me to shut up apparently doesn't care about getting a better MW game. From now on I'm going to sit back and watch the train wreck happen.

We might need to spread the word around, some of the old timers of BT might not even know this project is up and running.

It's Jordan Weisman himself, they know.
