Why do people still want a beta over a finished game? By the time they finally say it's finished which might never happen you will be sick of the game.

HBS shipped three complete Shadowrun games without a perpetual "beta". There have been some bug fix releases, but the games shipped as advertised.

Have some questions, hopefully someone can answer them.

What is :
1. Source book
2. Field manual
3. Technical readout
4. Handbook

I remembered having a copy of a book (no longer have it) with details on designing of battlemechs, armoured units and aerospace assets. What would this fall under?

The rules (table top game wise) for designing mechs, armour, and aerospace fighters are in neither of the books offered for the kickstarter add-ons.
There are however background infos and technical details in the Technical Readouts. But these are ready to go builds and fluff.

As far as I can tell by skimming through everything, it is indeed more fluff then rules.

I see. In that case it might be better for me to upgrade my pledge package than grab some fluff, though i might consider the merc handbook.

Generally speaking, a Sourcebook is a lore tome pertaining to some specific aspect of the BattleTech universe (e.g. a House, a region, an era, a Mercenary company). It may or may not have game rules, but it is generally not considered a Rulebook.

A Field Manual is a form of Sourcebook, detailing the military forces of a specific faction.

A Technical Readout is another form of Sourcebook detailing equipment, with in-game stats and lore fluff.

A Handbook is a third form of Sourcebook, detailing a faction.

You can find a list of all BattleTech products (with links to descriptions and contents) on sarna.net.

That would be the Tech Manual, and its companion Total Warfare. They are Rulebooks.

Or the old classic CityTech booklet. Which had also all the construction rules for mechs, armour and aerospace fighters.

I forget from last time I did it, how can you pay through Kickstarter? Is it only credit card or do they accept other payment like PayPal?

Who is the 6th House in the picture at 1:40 in the video?

I believe that you just select PayPal as your payment option, there are instructions on the Campaign page. Also, the sixth faction is not a "house" it is just the Atlas skull and generic Battletech logos for people who do not want to align themselves with one of the great houses.

Ok, we are almost at the 3rd tier! So make those pledges and then we are on the home stretch to PVP and ongoing development!

Quote

The STAGE 3 EXPANDED MERCENARY CAMPAIGN puts you in full control of your life as a mercenary.
  • The single-player story campaign is now open-ended - charter JumpShip transport for your mercenary outfit to travel to various hot-zones across the Periphery and Inner Sphere, and continue your career even after the game's main story arc is resolved.
  • You’ll be able to choose your contracts and alliances, with both the 5 Great Houses and other sub-factions within the Inner Sphere.
  • A procedural contract-generation system will ensure that you always have fresh contracts available, wherever your Mercenary career may take you.
  • The missions you choose to accept and the objectives competed in those missions will determine your reputation as a mercenary, affecting the contracts and contract terms you may be offered in the future.
Funding Goals Update

Now, MechWarriors, it’s ONWARD towards our next major objective: STAGE 4 - PVP Multiplayer!
HBS Command has identified two high-value targets on our march to STAGE 4.
  • $2,000,000 - Customizable Home Base: As part of the ongoing campaign, you'll acquire a home base (likely in the form of a derelict DropShip) for your mercenary outfit to call home. At this funding level we'll also allow you to adjust its appearance, repair and upgrade its functionality, and grow and evolve your base as your outfit grows and evolves.
  • $2,150,000 - Legendary 'Mech & MechWarriors: In addition to the game's standard 'Mechs and customizable, procedurally-generated MechWarriors, we'll include rare legendary 'Mechs to find, and rare hero MechWarriors to hire - including some famous characters from BattleTech history. Such legends may not stick around for long, but will be well worth hiring if you can afford them.

A bit premature, lol, but I do think it's get there within the next 12 to 24 hours.

Didn't expect the Paypal amount to increase $3k today since it hadn't changed in days. Maybe they just hadn't updated it on the page until now since it is what tipped it over the next funding tier.

I just got an email from HBS saying that stage 3 has been reached and martian has posted the new, expanded stretch goals. We have made it my friend!

This game will be what I had hoped community warfare in MWO and Mechwarrior Tactics would be.

Wooo-Hooo!
We got the extended mercenary campaign, good job lads. Now, kick all your friends once more or buy some extra for we had to have the customizable unit's dropship and you all know it. Who needs food or savings when you can have that wonderful useless jacket and custoomizable dropship

If you mean this image - https://s3.amazonaws...TTLETECH-07.jpg - the middle image is the Cameron Star of the Star League, the image behind the Capellan Confederation looks to be the Terran Hegemony insignia.
