Good move PGI to advertise this. I'm sure they are grateful for your support.

When I think of turn based mech games I think of Front Mission first and foremost, and those were brilliant. Can't wait for it.

Personally never liked turned based games so no I wont be putting any money into this.

I just dont trust kickstarters to begin with too many take your money and never actually finish the game.

This is the third game-related Kickstarter of HBS and so far they one of the exceptions who delivered the project on schedule.(They also had a boardgame kickstarter which already released: Golem Arcana) I loved their Shadowrun renditions(SR: Returns, Dragonfall and Hong Kong) and have absolute faith in them.

HBS has 100% Kickstarter record: 3 games offered, 3 games funded, 3 games delivered as promised. I would say that this is a good track record.

Define "finish"...?

:P

I'm interested in the kickstarter. Just waiting for details on how they're going to lay out the packages. If the smallest buy in is $1K, I'll wish them well and wait for a playable release. I don't think I'm ready to toss that much in up front. But if there's an option that's only a couple hundred $, yeah, I'll probably buy in to that. Hopefully their funding options make sense.

I'm on their mailing list, just waiting to see the details.

Not sure what they are selling....is their a link to what the previous Battle Tech Game was 20 years ago? Is it similar to Battle Tech the Crescent Hawk Inception?

If so ....at least bring back the ATLAS and return it to the former glory of KING OF THE BATTLE FIELD.

I don't remember any Atlas in the game, nor were there a lot of enemies to fight, but it was turn based. Here's a good write up of the game:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/BattleTech:_The_Crescent_Hawks'_Inception

And if you want to see it being played:

I remember playing it on a C64 many, many times.

Esactly.
That's why in my first post I said: It's BT fans' turn now!
We need a turn based game in the pc since the beginning.

If you don't need fancy graphics:

Thank you. Someone else mentioned it so I didn't have to. And, btw, it's free and has more mechs, maps, and tech than you can shake a stick at.

My problems with Megamek are always been related to doing scenarios and campaigns, being mostly a solo player.
Also AI is not so brilliant.

The idea was to make a version of Battletech to play on the computer. The focus was never really on a single player mode :/

And it's best when you can actually understand the rules and how the frack it work. X)

The best way to learn the rules is to get the Battletech books. Buy or d/l them if you can. There are a ton of them out there but it's all out of the books.

That picture with the King Crab amoungst the tanks and other troops is what MWO SHOULD be. That would rock. Imagine pulling some world of tanks players over and some others from other games to play such a role. Of course if a player died in a mech, they could always be transported to an infantry or tanker role until they die then get put lower and lower untill only they can satchel charge some legs.

Not that it matters overly much in a turn-based strategy game, but just from the art that's been released it looks like they've got the scale much truer to BattleTech lore than a lot of the MechWarrior games have (including this one).

'Mechs are supposed to be roughly 9 - 14 meters tall; they get half cover from a one-elevation terrain hex and full cover from two - and one elevation level is 6 meters.

At MWO's scale, an Atlas (roughly 18 meters tall) would need at least three elevation levels to get full cover.

And I'll definitely be kickstarting this; HBS has an excellent kickstarter record, I've enjoyed the hell out of their Shadowrun games, the game is set in 3025, and it looks like it'll be a digital version of the Mercenaries sourcebook.

Ticks all the boxes, so take my money please.

If this game is backed by BattleTech, why the need for Kickstarter?
