actually, what all the mechs need is no range weapon quirks. like, at all. you should use a mech for two reasons, you like the look, and the hardpoint layout. hell, honestly, the only weapon quirks any mechs should have are ones like the Crab here should, better heat dissipation because it's specifically meant to BE an energy boat, the Awesome too. if you want longer ranged weapons on a mech, you PUT longer ranged weapons on a mech.
and FYI to the people who'll say "but Clanners'll beat us more without quirks"...yeah... we have about three months fighting wave 1 with no quirks. we did fine. from what i remember, Quirks really only got added to incentivize use of certain underused chassis (the Wolverine and Thunderbolt, for example, two solid mechs people were too afraid to actually get inventive with builds on).
I'm an IS MechWarrior, I'm staying an IS Mechwarrior, i'm damn proud to be an IS Mechwarrior, and i'll be lazing my name into the remains of Clan mechs with this thing when meta-quirked mechs and giant coward-filled ECM bubbles've gone the way of the dodo.
