There is one thing your forgeting. It may be shorter than other mechs of the same tonnage, but in return it's torso is very long when viewed from the side.
So the weight looks about right.

agreed. How other mechs make up for a small side profile with taller height, this one makes up for a large side profile by being shorter.

We've spent a long, long time complaining about mechs being too big. So tell me honestly, would you really rather they scaled it like the Nova, another 50 ton mech?

Spoiler

Oh boy. They can't redo the nova soon enough. lol. it's so bad.

Even smaller frontal profile than the 40 ton Cicada? How does it even...

That's mainly just because the Cicada is probably too big. 5 tons more than a Jenner, yet significantly larger.

Ugh its too small. Scale shouldn't be used as a balance point, then we get these tiny mechs running aroudn trying to one up eachother at being small.

I see what you mean, but...front-to-back, it has enough mass that it looks ok to me. Rotating side-to-side will not do as much for the Crab as other mechs, especially if people use XL engines in them.

Actually the Cicada is considered very small for a Medium. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that Mediums are large as a whole.

Oh for crying out loud. "It's too big!" and now "It's too small!"

If anything SDR is too big by weight. Weight is a bad criteria.

assuming relative density ( a fair assumption in military hardware), no, the Spider, and all Lights are actually WAAAAAAAY too small...or more accurately, all Mechs bigger than Lights are actually way too big.

I could understand it being scaled up SLIGHTLY, but not by any large degree. I'm talking no more than 5%, tops.

Medium mechs being too huge is one of the most infamous forum complaints that has been around for years, since pretty much the beginning of the game. The Crabby Patty here is actually fairly close to where a medium ought to be sized: smaller than a heavy.

Also keep in mind that it has a questionable torso shape, so this helps to compensate a bit.

This here Cat D9 is about the same size as a spider's torso with no arms or legs...54 Tons. Try that again?

looking how long it is on the side view, I would say there is no need for upscaling, it looks pretty accurate, and man, it's gonna hate life from flanking shots. It needs a small frontal profile to help compensate some, or it truly will be DoA.

try reading the second half of my comment. Obviously was speaking in relative density comparison. Also, humanoid type bone and musculature is a whole lot less dense, than your average earth mover. Also go stack those same components into a human configuration with spindly arms and legs. and lets ignore the part that earth movers are actually designed specifically to ADD weight, not cut it, and thus are not as weight efficient as military machines...because mass is a bonus for earth work. (Spent 7 years driving those things)

So first, let's compare apples to apples, not oranges, and then third, instead of getting your knickers in a twist, read the whole comment.... you might note where I stated everything bigger than Lights are oversized.

The Jenner is near perfect, actually, and yes, the Spider IS undersized.

Try again?

Crab is perfectly scaled. Folks look at it side-on to figure out where the rest of the surface area is.

I've no idea what the hell are you guys going on about!
Crab's scaled PERFECTLY with the Hunchback and Enforcer. It has a different body-type, a very long torso and double-jointed legs, (and pretty large arms with massive claws) which might make it shorter, but size-wise it's PERFECT.

Nova should follow suit and be made in a similar size.
(If only the Centurion and Trebuchet won the re-scale votes instead of that bloody Uller!)
Seriously, it's FINE, and you guys know me as the first one to whine about oversized or undersized 'mechs.

Torso is still very long, but the mech is small enough it may be alright. The custom geo is pretty sweet too. I wonder if it has direct tv or dish? :P

Love the look of the custom geo too. It is how I imagined my mechs back in TT days where the only thing keeping you on the battlefield were the parts you salvaged off the battlefield. This mech has that held together with bubblegum and prayers look to it.

I spent five driving the Abrams which to repute your military comment is only slightly larger but another 18 tons heavier cause of that, you know Armor and weapons thing. You do realize that our humvees have gone from 2 to 6 tons and are now being replaced by a truck that weighs almost 15? That might have been the most ridiculous comment you've made on here yet but thats irrelevant. The point that weight is a BAD means of determining size stands.

As to the spider, its just fine where its at. that aint no elemental.

The scale looks about right to me. If you remove the torso from the hunchback and bolt it back on lengthwise, and then add an extra knee in each leg, I think you'd get something like the crab in profile.

I don't think so.
If you take the enforcer or the hunchie and "make them bow", you'll see that they have the same height and volume.
There is a trade here: tiny mech but easy to hit from its side.

Very happy to have all 4 variant!
It looks awesome, has very good speed, 50 tonners can have good builds using st or xl.
I hope PGi won't screw the hitboxes so much.
