If you think I'm taking opposite views, I'm not. I'm just stating which was given and what wasn't.
When I said "examples of moderators publicly taking opposite views on the same issue", I was referring to "hot" topics that involved the CoC. A very good example are all the periodic mega-page discussions on whether or not hiding is a legitimate tactic. Three moderators basically had the differing positions of [1] never, [2] it depends, and [3] always. Obviously, that created a whole lot of confusion as posters were quoting one of those three to bolster their positions.
And so when this came up in the latest patch notes:

You'd automatically assume that hiding is in fact allowed, given it's absence from the list. And yet ... argh!
All I am requesting is that the support and moderation teams be on the same page so that such confusing spectacles are avoided.
That and what I think is 627's moderation warning feeling like it's a little on the excessive side. There will be banter between opposing teams. It's the nature of PvP games -- online or otherwise.
And there will be oversensitive ones who will report anything and everything they do not like. A little leeway will not hurt MWO but I fear less just might.

Also I am disconcerted about what sounds like a very real possibility that I will get moderated for typing "gilf" or "glhf" at the start of every round, or for having more or less unrelated conversations in game about things like Scotch whiskey.
Considering it's a new feature that more than just a few people are obviously concerned about, I think it's best placed in public eye until things settle down.
