Is Anyone Sincerely Happy With The State Of This Game?

I'm tier 5, with mostly badly build crap mech. There has been many horrible matches, but there have also been some good and interesting ones. I am also having pretty good fun with the mechanics and the game's pacing.
I have given the game some cash, I will again come next year (I'm willing to shell out $30 a year for it. I think that's a fair rate considering how the cash shop is handled. Would spend more if cosmetic items are cheaper and worth it.)
To sum it up:
- MM is a total hit or miss (could be good and also horrible)
- Gameplay is still quite fun. Not perfectly balanced, but the good still outweigh the bad.
- Horrible cash shop. Cosmetics items are way too expensive, and MC often can't buy mech packs--I already bought MC, why do I have to pay again instead of using my MC to buy mech packs?

In its current state (today), I really like it though. I am having fun with it and log on almost every day.

MWO is now just over 2.75+ years old right? "MWO officially launched during September 2013" (CB time does not count as it was not for everyone) while the "F2P game model" allowed players access while the hole was still being dug for the Games foundation.
For some, seeing a Game being built from, literally, scratch (month 6 I believe they opened to Founders) is quite something. For others, sadly, it is just another "excuse" to complain and bash the game that apparently has taken so long to get to where it is at, without the realization provided above. If only those Armchair Developers would make those Games they so vehemently state would be so much better and made so much faster.
Keep after it PGI. MWO is a solid and Fun title worthy of HDD space on my Gaming rig.

Now PGI, can we get a Ballistics Meta for 6 months please...

So not only is the game's matchmaking awful, the organized comp leagues match making and rules are a joke.
I got more than my money's worth playing this game. Got to know a lot of friendly folks. But a lot has to improve. In the game and the 'organizers' mentality.

If PGI can define their vision for the game, lay out their plan, implement it, and stick to it, then I think it can be great.
Not even going into balance issues, I'm talking a core vision for where they would take their game with unlimited money and resources.
And if they haven't been able to hire a programmer for this long, who can code new changes into the game, PROTIP to PGI HR, You're not offering a high enough salary to get the person you want. Maybe bump up what you're willing to pay a programmer and we can move this forward eh?
This programmer would be the rock star who adds all these wonderful features that the community has been asking for that PGI has been stuck on. They deserve to be compensated for it.

I think this is the position of more players that the number who care to admit...
Clearly there's a segment that are genuinely disappointed in MWO for a multitude of reasons. That said, I think many enjoy the core game but really long for a deeper game mechanic than we presently have.

Deeper game mechanic, deeper immersion into the genre.
I truly wish this could have been Star Citizen in Battletech.....

Careful what you wish for, Star Citizen hasn't exactly been a great example for game development. Despite all the money that game has risen, I have a feeling it might be stuck in development hell with how picky Chris Roberts is. Could Star Citizen be Chris Robert's own Daikatana?

This year PGI have shown me after the split of IGP that they're in-capeable and it became painfully clear that they're inexperienced to deliver this game off in a good state with top notch quality AAA+ rating as advertised.
I find our current management disgusting. But that's my opinion. They're inexperienced.
I had good hopes after the split, but i do not have them anymore.
I have promised myself to give PGI till the end of this year. I gave them a one full year of development time after the split hoping they would improve.
They still have to the end of December. But by the looks of it i am going to ditch this game around christmas.

Perhaps. Maybe I should have said the "dream" of Star Citizen.
You know, you the pilot, walking around your mechbay with all your mechs standing in position much like the ships are in SC.... Load up your dropship, travel to a jumpship and head for the stars. You cannot tell me that wouldn't be EPIC.

CR and SC are building their stuff from scratch too, in Battletech/Mechwarrior, the lore on how things are is already developed, the universe is set. Plus SC uses cryengine as well. Not saying we need to get to the level of detail they are, but I imagine the assets would all be reusable (since now in the academy we know the people scale versus the mech scale.

Still, PGI is in over it's head. I think they were too ambitious with their claims up front and didn't have the experience and knowledge to realize they bit off way more than they could chew. They are just too small and possibly too inexperienced to pull off the original grand vision.
In hindsight, they may have been better off claiming they will be making a Solaris game with arena style battles. A game with teams fighting against teams to the death for money and fame. This idea wouldn't have gained quite as much interest, but since it is essentially what we have now, it would have been within their capabilities.
This ever changing battle lines, taking control and defending planets, changing destiny of houses and clans, huge info warfare, etc... was just too much for them to tackle.
Anyway, PGI is still plugging away and who knows what they will release in the future, but I'm just not holding my breath. I'm fine with whatever happens, but I can't help think about how things could have been different.

I think PGI made a terrible misstep with hardpoint inflation. we have reached mech over-saturation, where there really isn't anything new and differnt. It is just a new skin and maybe advantageous hit boxes and hardpoint locations. The irony is PGI isn't even leveraging this "Power Creep" as a selling point, which means there is little incentive for the "TryHards" to buy them, and the "DieHards" like me can't enjoy them.
I know it is an unpopular opinion, but I think PGI needs to pull back on hardpoints, and take a long look at either "fixed harpoints" (like some clam mechs have. not every hardpoint, but a few help balance chassis), and/or hardpoint restrictions (even less popular).

My answer is yes BTW, I still hate the current wait time for a match, I still hate ghost heat and heat implementation, but the game is fun overall.

I think me and most of our current vets have given them enough time to shine. 1 year of development time is in my opinion alot of time to make viable changes and good decisions. Sure most of them will still stick around because of their friends, love of their units but otherwise they would have been long gone already.
In my opinion i don't understand why some people still put enormous sums of money in this game (100 dollars for example for packages) because of a certain hope or faith which i don't see it happening soon.
