You probably would've experienced the same with the Highlander. While I haven't played the IIC, the IS Highlanders were my first assault mech on my primary account, and I always felt they were the center of the enemy's attention. Plus they have a huge CT .

Depending on how you play it, you may be able to "economize" by swapping your favorite loadout (pods and weapons) between the mechs while leveling them. Granted, it's not usually how I do it on my primary because I like different loadouts, but it's an option nonetheless

Agreed on the difference in it's "priority target" feel. Unless there's something scarier out there, it's the biggest, juiciest target available.

This ride will play best after elites. Hang in there!

Build ideas:
*Lots of SPLs+2Streak6 (it repositions reeeeeeeeeally well)
*8MPLs (trolololololololololol)
*2LPL+5ERML (might wait for elites on this, it's hot)
*6ERML+2LRM10 (lean on the lasers, pile on with missiles, missiles for free dmg while moving)
*6ERML+UAC10 or LB10X (UAC version feels hot paired with ERMLs, LB10X feels ... less ideal at ERML ranges, but it was fun for variety)
*10ERSL+UAC20 (more facetime than the streakpulse build, but it feels fun)
*Either Gauss or double UAC5 with lasers feel a bit mediocre to me, YMMV
*4cERLL looks weak on paper, and is frequently mediocre, but is better than a lot of alternatives and definitively unkind when the situation allows for sniper harassment at the ClanTech ERLL's ideal range. Lasers in torsos and 1 in LA. It repositions and finds sniping positions like a 95-tonner shouldn't be able to (which is the point of an EXE). At a minimum, it's fun for variety

the only thing about Highlander IIC is i could of bought 2 for about 1.5mil more Cbills then 1 EXE lol

i liked the EXE C(L) over on my primary and it was a fixture of my FW drop deck. i was running an UAC20 LPL and SRM6 very much a sneaky come behind and "Hello" mech. the B is similar. i just got used to running the C(L) fully mastered with full Mods. a brand new unelited EXE is a bit to get used to. still being able to sprint to 84kph and jump around is nice. now to just find a magic Cbill tree so i can afford 2 more, at full price, only about 38 mil Cbills. i guess i have to conserve the duck tape for awhile...

Got my complimentary mechbay from the Cappellan Confederation. Busy summer meant it took longer than expected to get around to it.

Next up: House Marik.

Now that I've got an open mechbay, and nothing in particular planned for it currently, I need to settle on my ClanTech light chassis. It's less obvious than it seems.

Oh well, I've got 3 more IS Houses to go before I consider scouting like a madman for the Clans to pick up 4 mechbays there too.

Currently unlocking weapon modules. LPL Cooldown's at level 5, MPL and LPL range are at level 2. The other mods for my Panther's weapon sets are all unlocked and sitting at level 1.

Got about 4 mil in the bank for that ClanTech light chassis or some modules.

thanks for the invite, i will pay it all back but it may take a little while yet. i figure if i do 100k here and there it will be much more manageable and less painful at this point. i really like the idea of this but i haven't really seen many people on yet. having a good crew to stomp around in is far more fulfilling than any event imho.

we kind of don't expect you to pay back your invite till you master your first set of mechs. everybody here understands the drain that leveling a batch of new mechs take. but feel free to donate what you can. i know i am tapped for a while. need 36mil for 2 more EXEs... what have i done lol

I have a question, though. It's not mentioned in the OP, but can I use Modules with the 2H, like Radar Derp and AC/5 Cooldown and Consumables?

P.S.: BTW, just donated a mil to the Unit.

I took a contract with Liao since they are still paying the most, but I would like some opinions on taking some lesser paying contracts to pick up the faction rewards from the other factions. I think we have added quite a few players who could probably benefit from the extra mechbays.

Don't we have to be loyalist, to pick them up once the merc line is exhausted ?

Think I've covered my alts joining fee now, so I'll save a bit more for the mech buying bonus stage, but keep donating as and when I can

My re-roll on the test said "Thunderbolt", which I'm not unhappy about - should eventually give me an Invasion drop-deck to play with.

The weekend event was kind to my wallet so I'll throw in some more c-bills directly (I'm blocked on mechbays until the loyalty reward / a bunch more CW scouting grind anyway.)
