i guess that is the cross the Victor has to carry. so many of us ran Victors before the great JJ nerf (insert sad bagpipe music here for the Highlander) were a JJ Assault was a force to be reckoned with. Now that a few of us are revisiting (1st time for me as i was playing highlanders) the Victor, we are finding that it is not a bad mech, not a great assault kind of a heavy heavy, but in need of different tactics. with the state of the game were it is the Victor will probably never be top shelf, with a good pilot, that is willing to play with it's weaknesses, it can be a solid 2nd tier mech.

mid to late game a mobile gun platform with an AC20 and SRMs coming in from the side is devastating. patience is key. stick with other assaults. while the reds focus on that atlas/whale/Kodiak hit them with everything you got were the armor is thinnest then move. knife fight tactics, stick and move.

also right now the Victor is under rated so you tend to get ignored while other priority targets get hit.

enough on that

for now

lol

Sorry I have been MIA for so long guys. Thanks for keeping things going ih8tevictors! My life has been a little over the top busy the last couple of months and doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon, but I will try not to disappear for such a long time again ;)

I started off with the VTR-9K as my first variant. It comes stock with a STD 320 engine, a gauss rifle, an SRM 4, and 2 MPLas. I didn't want to get rid of the gauss and the STD engine is pretty expensive to replace so I upgraded to DHS and Endo and used the extra weight to replace the SRMs and MPLas with 2 ERLL and max jump jets. It took a while to get used to try lower/wider mounts, but I have to say I love this mech. I've come to find that a lot of "lower tier" mechs are some of the best to play as support mechs, especially at long range.

Now I can't wait to see how the AC20 variants do...

Definitely donating when I can.... but my WMC acct is perpetually tapped... the nice part about playing the stock mech part is aside from the base mech... no exp'ense...but a stock RFL-3N ain't a major money maker either!

On a separate note:

Who all in the unit are backers for HBS Battletech game? (The thing that kind of kicked off the WMC after all)

Have you seen the fantastic Super-Pre-Alpha demo video?
https://www.youtube....1&v=FjEeDz51pHE

Miss the Kickstarter? Guess what, good news!

2nd Chance Late Backer kits, allowing early access, etc, are now available!
https://battletech.b...osted_preorders

Obviously, this is a different game than MWO, and appeals to a different play type, but for fans of the IP this is already looking like it's going to be fantastic.

Hoping to see as many of you over there too, as possible. See ya dirtside!

I think you will find most Victors run very well stock and Super Stock (Double Heats Sinks, Endo Steel)
the 9K is a bit different then the other 2, which make very good in your face brawlers. with the Guass and a couple of ERLLs the 9K was one of the best FW mechs in my small stable. in a defensive game on all the maps the max JJs and long range weapons let me change position and hammer the reds with ease that most assaults could not.
Victors are not the easiest of mechs to get through to Master. Once elited they really shine.
Welcome to the Victor club. any questions you may have feel free to post. there a bunch of us here running Victors in this Post JJ nerf world.

Yep i am a backer also. on the forums over there I am loopala, same as my primary account here. although i have not spent much time over there as RL takes so much of my life LOL.

Battletech Fan since I first saw Battledroids, but being a poor HS student i did not buy till Battletech box set was out. more of a fan of the older 3005 universe but am ok with were it has gone.

I'm still just testing the waters on their forums...not real fond of the layout, functionality, overall, though seeing Devs constantly interact with us? Pretty nice. Seriously, Jordan and Mitch act like giddy schoolgirls about this game which is such a refreshing change form being told we are idiots.

I'm in finally.

Alts name is Pete Townsend, no, not the lead guitarist from The Who, but the Battle of Britain fighter ace Peter Townsend, or in this case Victor pilot, in a few days or so, once the cadet bonus is out the way, though perhaps with how Victors perform these days I should do it more in the style of an A.A meeting.

Hello *embarrassed shuffle* my name is Pete Townsend and I...I pilot Victors..

Yeah, I backed Battletech on day one of the Kickstarter. I am so excited for it!!!! I haven't really gotten involved much in the forums over there though. I started into the BT universe with MW2 so I have a longer background in the Mechwarrior universe than the broader Battletech universe. All that to say, I find I don't have a lot to contribute over there since my TT skills and knowledge of lore are rather scant.

But, I agree, the enthusiasm of the HBS devs is contagious and makes me all the more anxious for he game to be released!

the Who guitarist is Pete Townshend, anyhow, not Townsend. (a common misconception amongst those who are not Who-ophiles)

I tried to send an invite to "Pete Townsend" and was told that pilot does not exist. If that is the proper spelling I will try again later. Or maybe it will work for ih8tevictors.

I tried earlier but got the same. Will try Monday. I think the server has a couple of things that need a wack or 2 on Mondays. Had a similar thing happen last week. Cleared up during normal business hours.
