My mech happens to be Panthers, and I had to do the first few matches with the stock engine while getting enough for the XL. Biggest issue was, surprisingly, not survivability, but actually getting to the fight before things were more or less over.

I'm in panthers as well right now. Survivablilty would be a bit lower in stock, panther's have decent enough armor even if the distrubution isn't optimal for MWO. Twist speed might be an issue, and of course running at less than 70kph makes you more of a target than 120kph. But yeah the painful part would be how slow you get to fights against optimized mechs. Not as bad in stock, though I'd imagine other fast lights would still be running you down as normal.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm done with the Raven too!
Posted Image

It's been hard, even with main account I suck with raven. But I had fun!

The main issue is been this: only one engine, 275xl. I bought it for the 3 centurion, and I didn't have c-biils to buy 3 raven and also new engines....
So, all the variants have been crafted starting from the 275xl.

RVN-4X
Of course RVN-4X is the better variant, thanks to quirks. Put 2LPL, and you are fine.
dmg/match= 346,84

RVN-2X
Man, this made me crazy because going with 4mpl+smr4 look fine, but nope, too much fragile to go close.
So I ended with 2LL+2ml. Still not happy, but I finished it too.
dmg/match= 294

RVN-3L
Well, having only the 275XL, the only loadout I could think has been 1LPL+2ml/ECM
It works fairly well. Maybe because in low tier territory ECM is still OP :D
dmg/match= 317

Been playing in the camo lab, and on default pattern and the few colours we've won from the last events. found a pretty cool setup.
If we want unit colours, I propose this

Quick questions:

We only have 4 mechbays.
We can get some from CW drops using trial mechs (I suppose this isn't against the rules of the challenge).
But even so, what happens when we elite all 3 mechs we get?
Are we supposed to get another 3 to elite? If so, how - mechbay wise? Especially if we'd like to keep our first 3 mechs...
Are we supposed to share the stats on the mechs, weapons, maps?

PS - My alt account (still has no posts and can't post here) only has stats for the 4P and 4J (I believe, the one with LRM quirks).

A few things I've taken out of this challenge so far:
1 - Never had Hunchbacks but I do love mediums! If I ever had a doubt about purchasing them, I don't now Posted Image
2 - Playing the game in lower tiers makes it easier for people to get their first mechs to elite (I'm too close for comfort to T3 now on the alt... scary though while only having 1 mech still with basic to be fully unlocked)
3 - I rarely build mechs around the quirks. But my alt is going to be the "quirk junky" type of account. This will help me see the difference between using a mech how PGI decided it should be used, or using it the way I think it should be (like I do on this acc).
4 - I hate to use LRMs especially when we are teamed up with people with little to no concept of locking targets. But even so, I'm having a blast with the LRM Hunchy. I might even get that one for my main instead of any others. It's actually fun. (not too much damage per match, but a great suppressor and intimidating mech!

Edit - Sorry if these questions above have already been answered, but I couldn't read through all the 28 pages right now...

That's exactly what I have on my Atlas now, except with Basic Green instead of the Cobra Light Green, since I don't have MC for the extra color.

We will be switching factions periodically so that you will have the opportunity to earn extra mechbays. Also there are challenges in which you can earn mc or extra mechbays. The challenge runs until HBS' Battletech is released in May 2017 so there is no rush to get through it. When BT is released we will all share our stats to see how we have done in "our" mech. The bonus challenge is for something extra to work on once the first chassis is mastered.

So I have one vote in favor of 14 day or 28 (or is it 30) day contracts. Any more opinions one way or the other?

i would vote for shorter timeperiods, so that we can get mechbays faster ;) 14 days is ok.

p.s.: i had the honor to play a match with cabusha2 in his Atlas. Very nice comander :) o7

p.s.s: colours: im running my mechs with lightblue, white, orange (from the last event).

My intention was always to use 7 day contracts, then we have the most flexibility.

Also, since this challenge is about personal achievement, I think that we should not have an "official" camo and that Challengers should be able to use whatever Camo patterns or Colors that they earn during MWO events, or can buy with CBills.

I agree on the camo and colors. I have a pretty limited play time and I usually prefer to grind out challenges on my main so I don't generally end up getting the free colors for my WMC. The contracts don't mean much to me I rarely CW. But if 7 day contracts are Ed's original intent then I think we should stick with that.

No, my intent was never to make the Challenge your permanent account, If you read the OP, it says at least once a month! Some of you got really into it and started to grind like crazy, which is really cool! I, on the other hand was distracted by my new shinies and am levelling my Marauders first. I invented this Challenge and I will at least master my Challenge mechs before BATTLETECH is released, but the Bonus Challenges are just for you guys who are so into completing things.

Read the OP, CHALLENGE #2 has been posted! Also, 3x has been my strongest supporter (and maybe Bishop), so he is now nearly as much of the leader of the Challenge as I am! 3x Can do anything except change the rules of the Challenge.

7 day contracts should be fine. like the wolf dragoons we should bounce thru all the inter sphere and see what's what. as we have till 2017 or so there is plenty of time to pick up the goodys you missed on the last contract with the next contract.

as for camo, i have never been a huge team player, well till this group, so paint em what you got boys.

now that my MW has finished the personal challenge i have to jet off and play my shiny new IIC mechs. some how i don't think i will get 10 games per in, but would like to get the personal bit done and maybe basic the hgn IICs.

BTW i still need a conquest win on WM act. and about 1mil cbills for the VTR 9B to be fully SS.

Honestly, I am surprised that so many of you like this challenge that I thought up during my break at work! I have switched factions and units many times and it seems that the only thing that we all can agree on is respecting players who can master mechs that they have not chosen themselves and who grind the CBills and XP themselves, without spending any money to make it easier.
