I was so nutty that I ran my first 2 Victors (9B and 9Soops9K) with standard engines and single heat sinks for a while. I didn't upgrade my 9B dakka-troll to DHS until I'd bought and completely outfitted both the 9K and 9S.

The 9S is my brawler, built like this, with the attached results just a couple nights ago:

9B dakka troll is UAC5, AC5, AC2, STD320, JJ or two, and ammo. Plenty of ammo. I would take the thing into CW with 3 Panthers and spam for dayzzzzz. I got plenty of mileage out of it, and still run it on maps that love firing line strats.

The 9K is the only one I run with an XL, because it's a pure sniper. However, I ran it with 2ERLLs and a Gauss, a STD320, and SHS for a while because I wanted to start using it right away. It's limited by something, regardless of loadout, be it XL-squishiness, or being short one laser because of the weight of the STD engine. Pretty conventional, for the most part. I meta this one more than the others.

9S is my go-to. I've run it for relevant KMDD categories in every event within recent memory, and it doesn't fail to come through. It's a fixture in my FP deck too. Standard engines are fine, and you can even bring "enough" ammo

Edit: I like to lol too, at the guy who thinks he'll get an easy kill with an XL check on my standard-engined Victor!

(*) funny that you americans call those things "stein" which is also a german word but just means stone in german. "Bierkrug" or just "Krug" would be the german wording^^ (or "Mass" in bavarian)

p.s.: i threw the cbills that i gathered with the misused assaultmechs into the unitcoffer

That is an interesting linguistic move, isn't it?

From Merriam-Webster.com: "a large mug (as of earthenware) used especially for beer"

So, I'm thinking it's the "earthenware" and "stone" link, at least for English-speakers.

Conscientious and generous of you regarding your Stalker money. To be fair though, we hadn't yet defined what we were going to do for weight class challenges (if anything). I'll own that I'd wondered, but hadn't spoken up. I ask a lot of questions, and get worried sometimes that I'm wearing folks out.

I'm hoping that Ed's reinforcement plans cover this scenario, so we can make the most of challenges like these (edit: while being clear what the challenge parameters allow/don't). Amaranth's going to have all the daily plays, light and assault KMDDs, and 6 heavy KMDDs from after I decided to commit to the Dragons for the stock challenge.

To have the opportunity to take part in all kind of class-based events i think i have to go with assault mechs for our Stockchallenge. But looking at the Atlas and Battlemasater give me headaches^^

Each one has its "challenges," for sure. I'd like to make a suggestion: wait for Ed to post his "Reinforcements" plan, before deciding on your stock mech. I don't know that it will include solutions that will help the weight class thing. But if it does, you'll be able to choose your stock mech without worrying about other stuff.

I chose mine based on which one I thought gave me the best to achieving the stock goals. It just so happened that it filled a weight class need. People don't normally think of Dragons that way, but they also don't think about stock loadouts

If you're honestly stuck between 2 chassis, may I recommend that you consider whether you're going to get the 2nd and 3rd variants for levelling? If so, and you're honestly stuck between the stock mechs, consider the other variants you'll be playing. It might help getting unstuck.

Atlas and Battlemaster would be a tough call for me too. I think I'd lean Battlemaster for the stock mech, myself.

* warhorn for total of 6 days with a play on New Terra Therma through 1 Nov, and
* mechbays in the loot bags (starts next week, not this week)(edit, note: seems to have daily cap)

Unfortunately things came up this weekend and I was not able to get the update done. I will probably not have time for the update for a while, so just roll with my preview update (for 3025 Stock Mech) for now.

3 Victors mastered for Bonus Challenge #1, and 3 Jenner IICs mastered for Bonus Challenge #2.



Those Jenners will run a dozen builds or more. They're squishy, but more versatile than I expected. I have much more spare equipment on hand for swapping out builds for them than I ever did for the Panthers and Victors, which got their builds and kept them.

Next up: Dragons for the Stock Mech 3025 Challenge. I'll probably finish up my mechbay tour while working them, and start saving cash for modules and/or whatever chicanery Ed allows us to get into next

Im in the mastery sectin with my Ach prime and ach-c. Bought the b variant yesterday and won the first match, which was on the new TT Redux map. Had a overheatduell with a kingcrab ^^

Regarding the new map:

I think Nova Terra Therma feels hotter to me than it actually is, because of how actively angry the volcanism is. The old map felt sedate and relaxed by comparison.

This one feels actively hostile. As in "Seriously, what are we doing here, and who thought this was a good idea or even an acceptable risk? We're risking our lives just by being here! What could possibly be worth this?!"

All I can say is I hope our negotiating team got us a sweet deal for sticking our nose into that mess. Sure, war is hell, but this? This is like I'm not even trying to stay alive to start, and I'm piling combat on top of that. It's not hell because of the fight: it's going to hell first, then picking a fight.

For bonus #2, I picked the Adder, and the loyalty reward bay and challenge cash were right on cue to start working on the first of 'em.

Got my "Philanthropist" last night.

I ran my dakka troll Victor, and got a match on HPG.

It was an extra very peek-a-boo match. I shot anybody I saw, like whack-a-mole. I went down, and decided I'd rather monkey with dekkles in the mechlab than hang around. The match didn't feel all that noteworthy.

So I'm monkeying around in the mechlab when the excited blue box pops up with "Achievement Unlocked: Philanthropist." Apparently we'd won

I thought back, and considered that I could only account for about 8 or 9 mechs that I recalled shooting. Apparently my hail of bullets caught a few not-so-innocent bystanders as well

I'll totally take it. I got Philanthropist on my main account on HPG too, though in my MLX-C sniper. I think there's just something about the way it can fragment the fighting sometimes, leading to everyone mixing it up with each other in some matches.

Anyhow, yay! \o/ New title!

The bad thing was, that i got too greedy. the guy in his CTF-3L(L) killed me with a deep red CT (well played!)

Alright Challengers, the promised update is finally here!

I have added some notes for the 3025 Stock Mech challenge in order to clear up some possible confusion. Also, I have added two additional Bonus Challenges for Clan and Inner Sphere Faction Warfare reinforcements. Oh, I updated the contacts for prospective challengers who want invites and I removed the roster, since I will never be able to keep it up to date.
